Plagg searches the area near the middle school but cannot find her. He looks elsewhere and still has no ideas where his beloved Tikki can be right now. He is about to lose hope. He checks the junkyards, the used car lots, and the ships at dock. He believes Tikki must be somewhere in France. He is sure that she has not left town.

Tikki tries to get a signal through to Plagg but finds the glass blocks it. She moves into another section of the ship as someone carries her. She stops when they set her down on a small table next to a bed.

The lady in the bed turns on the lamp and frowns when she sees Tikki. She wonders what the bug is in her room for anyway. It is not like she knows what to do with it.

"Mom, you are awake?" The girl says.

"Yes, sweetie, but why did you bring me this?" Her mother asks.

"Mom, it is a special creature that can heal you," The girl replies.

"Heal me, my daughter, the doctor says that is impossible," Her mother says.

"Mom, you have to, believe me, the animal can fix things," The young child protest.

The woman shakes her head to show her daughter that she thinks the creature deserves to be set free. She always did hate to see animals in captivity.

Tikki looks at the two people deep in conversation, and wonders about her fate aboard the vessel.  It is not something she likes to think about, but what else is she to do. She does not know how close Plagg came to her location.

Master Fu sees Plagg return with a sad expression on his face.  He feels sorry for the black cat kwami.  He knows how much he loves the ladybug kwami with all his heart.

The other kwami's come up empty-handed too.

The story continues in Chapter  5   Protect the Earrings at all costs!
