"There is that better?" He said. May rubbed her eyes.

"Yes, I can actually see again," May said, satisfied. He narrowed his eyes at her in a slight glare.

"Good night May," he deadpanned and shut off the lights.

"May," she grumbled and rolled over, holding the covers close to her chest.

"May, come on," the voice sounded annoyed. After a moment of silence, she found herself being shaken. She let out a groan of refusal.

"May, get up!" And suddenly with a violent tug, the warm covers were cruelly ripped off of her. She curled into a ball to try and stay warm as she shivered.

"Geez, I didn't realize how hard it was going to be to wake you up," May rolled over and opened her eyes to see Drew, his face in an annoyed expression. She pushed him back as she sat up.

"Get out of my face," she grumbled.

"Good morning Sunshine, now get up," he said sarcastically. May rolled her eyes and sighed before she grabbed her bag and locked herself in the bathroom to take a shower and get ready for the day. She wondered if this was what it was going to be like every day traveling with Drew. Then again, he still hadn't decided if he was going to ditch her or not, but a part of her knew he probably wouldn't do that. Probably.

May could see them getting into a big fight and one of them leaving for a day or two, but they would make up and go back to insulting each other. Still though, he wouldn't leave her by herself to travel through Johto, especially with whatever her mom was so nervous about that would require somebody to travel with her. Gathering her thoughts and things, she left the bathroom to find the beds made and everything looking perfect.

"Thank you for cleaning up, I appreciate it," May said as he stood up, walking towards the door.

"Yeah whatever, come on let's grab some breakfast and be on our way," Drew said, opening the door for her.

"How chivalrous," May commented as she walked past him.

"don't patronize me," Drew grumbled, pulling the door shut behind him. "We'll be camping, and we won't be near a town until Slateport. We need to buy enough food for today and tomorrow," he said.

"Then we can buy some things before we leave, but let's eat breakfast first, I'm starving," May said, right as the smell of breakfast food overwhelmed her senses.

"You're driven by your stomach," he chuckled.

"So what? I'm hungry," May pouted at him.

"Yeah, and you eat a lot!" He told her. She glared at him and stomped on his foot with a decent amount of force.

"OW! What the heck May!" He winced in slight discomfort.

"I don't eat as much as Ash!" May defended herself.

"You eat more than me!" He exclaimed.

"That's because you eat meals the size of a dust particle!" She exaggerated.

"AHEM!" Nurse Joy's head appeared around the doorway into the dining hall.

"There are trainers still asleep and people trying to enjoy their breakfast, please keep it down to not disturb them," she warned them sweetly before disappearing. May and Drew both turned to each other, coming to a mutual agreement.

"Truce for now Grasshead,"

"Truce for now Bandana Brain,"

After eating at a somewhat civil breakfast, and avoiding getting kicked out of the Pokecenter, the two rivals headed into the small shopping district set up in Oldale Town to get the things they needed for the trip.

They got a box of granola bars and a small pack of disposable water bottles. Finally ready to start the trek through route 103, the two headed out of town in that direction. Suddenly, May was taken over with a sudden laughter. Drew looked at her quite confused and a bit scared about what was causing her to spontaneously burst into laughter.

"I-I can't believe we actually made a Nurse Joy yell at us and almost got kicked out of a pokecenter," May wheezed. Drew was quiet for a moment before he started to see the humor in the situation and started laughing as well.

"I didn't know Nurse Joys could yell, I didn't think that was in their program," Drew laughed. May suddenly snapped her head towards him. Her eyes were wide.

"Wait, are the Nurse Joys robots?! I always thought they were human!" May exclaimed. Drew started laughing even harder and couldn't breathe for a minute or two.

"Oh my gosh May! Leave it to you to think the Nurse Joys are robots, you're so silly May," Drew laughed.

"But you said programmed!" She said, confused.

"No, no, no, not an actual program, just in the way that they behave and their general thought process," Drew explained still laughing uncontrollably.

"Oh, yeah, that makes sense," May admitted quietly. Drew still couldn't shake the laughter off.

"Glad my stupidity is so amusing," May deadpanned.

"No, I just haven't had a good laugh in a really long time, I really needed that," he said, finally calming down and taking deep heavy breaths. May was annoyed at him laughing at her, but the look on his face was worth it. He looked so less intense and stern, and she kinda liked that. Also, his laugh was pretty nice too, as expected of her rival who was practically perfect except for his vain personality, but his fangirls really dug that so it didn't really work against him either. She frowned.

"You never laugh because you're so high strung all of the time," May pointed out.

"That is true, I always have a lot of stuff going on in my mind," Drew admitted.

"Wow, he admits it," May teased.

"But you're so carefree you would aimlessly smack into a wall and then apologize to it," He said.

"Well I don't think being carefree makes you clumsy! They aren't connected!" May huffed. Suddenly, she let out a strangled squeak before crashing to the ground, hard. She had tripped on a root. Drew covered his mouth with his hand trying to suppress his uncontrollable laughter as he offered her a hand to get up.

"Ouchie," she said flatly, taking his offered hand and pulling herself up.

"I rest my case," Drew said smugly. All she could do was cross her arms stubbornly at him and glower.

Suddenly, a large rustling in the bushes caught their attention. The moment was lost as Drew stepped in front of May protectively.

"What is it?" May whispered.

Suddenly a zigzagoon jumped out of the bushes, crying out as more followed it. They were running and playing together, a sort of tag as the ran through the trees.

"Aw! They're so cute!" May exclaimed. Drew finally relaxed from his stance. Until he heard the sound of a twig snapping, and he whirled his head around towards it. A small electron beep was heard and that was all he needed. Before May knew it, he had captured her hand and they were running trying to get lost in the woods.

"Where are we going?!" May shouted at him.

"As far away as we can get!" Drew exclaimed. The brush behind them rustled and cracked loudly, they were being pursuited. After a few minutes of running, they came into a clearing.

"I didn't want to do this but I have to, Flygon, come out!" Drew said, throwing the pokeball to let out the dragon pokemon.

"Come on May!" He said reaching his hand out to her as he jumped on the pokemon. She took his proffered hand and settled in behind him, breathless from the running.

"What was that all about?" She demanded as the ascended over the trees.

"They come every once and awhile, they're crazy fans of some sort," Drew explained.

"Why didn't we just fly on Flygon to Slateport in the first place?" May asked.

"Because Flygon is still recovering from when I had to fly a long distance the other day, I didn't want to push him," He explained, affectionately petting Flygon's upper back.

"Is that what made you late to come find me and ask me to travel with you to Jhoto?" May asked.

"Yeah, I had to spend hours trying to lose them. Then I went into the woods again to try and take cover," Drew said.

"Geez, I didn't realize some of your fans were like that, seems pretty hard," May said, tightening her grip around his abdomen.

"I'm used to it by now. That's one of the reasons why I had been considering not traveling with you, so you would be safe from them," Drew explained.

"Oh, I see," May trailed off. She understood his motives now a little more.

"Flygon won't be able to fly too much longer, I give it about 10 minutes, but we will hopefully have a good enough amount of distance between us and them. But at the rate we're going, we actually may be able to make it to Slateport City by late tonight," He told her.

"Well that's good! We can relax for a day, Slateport has some good shops! Oh we can go to the beach too!" May said excitedly. He chuckled at her energy.

"Hey! You know what?" May said suddenly, her tone a little more serious than it was a moment ago.

"What?" He asked curiously.

"It's kinda fitting that we're going to Slateport," May said.

"Really? How so?" Drew prompted her to continue.

"Well, it's where we first met remember?" She said, a reminiscent smile on her face. A smile broke out onto Drew's face.

"Oh yeah. You and you're Beautifly were doing some cheesy act with frisbees," he said with a smirk.

"Ugh, don't remind me! It was really cheesy," she said, her face heating in embarrassment. She leaned her head into his back to hide her face, even though he couldn't see her that well anyway. She felt him vibrate with a chuckle underneath her. His back was strong and warm. May suddenly felt embarrassed at her action and she quickly withdrew from him. She missed his warmth immediately.

"But when you think about it, the first place we met is now the start of our adventure to Jhoto!" May pointed out.

"Yeah true, it is kinda fitting," he agreed. They suddenly began to slowly lose altitude.

"Flygon is getting tired, we'll have to walk the rest of the way," Drew instructed. May nodded at him.

They arrived in Slateport at one in the morning. May sluggishly dragged on as if her legs were a heavy burden to her. The dull buzz of the streetlights blinded her, she was so used to the absolute darkness of the forest.

"Dreeeeeew," she drawled his name out.

"What May?" He said sighing.

"How far until we get to the Pokemon Center?" She asked slowly, yawning.

"About another mile, so around 15-20 minutes away," he said, checking his PokeNav and squinting at the bright light from the screen.

"I'm tirrrrrred," she complained as she swayed from left to right, starting to fall behind.

"Come on May, you can do it," he encouraged her dryly.

"But I caaaaan't," she whined collapsing to her knees on the sidewalk. He turned around with an exasperated sigh.

"Come on May, get up," he said, not amused. His eyes had slight bags under them that had formed through the time they had been walking.

"No, I can't, I'm not moving!" She said stubbornly. She crossed her arms and turned her head away from him angrily.

"But we're almost there, come on," Drew said, starting to get annoyed.

"I'm not taking one more step!" She protested.

"Fine then, if you say so," he said angrily as he began to walk towards her. He then aggressively grabbed her and threw her over his shoulder.

"Hey, what are you doing! Stop!" She said, squirming against him.

"If you're not going to walk, I'm going to carry you to the Pokemon Center," he said with an annoyed tone. May sighed and stopped struggling.

"I'm sorry," She finally let out.

"It's okay, I'm tired too, but I'd much rather sleep in a bed than on the concrete in the middle of a city," He said, his frustration diminishing.

"Yeah you're right," she admitted. After a minute of silence she finally spoke again.

"This is kinda uncomfortable, could you give me a piggyback instead?" She asked quietly.

"Yeah sure," Drew answered as he stopped to gently let her down. She moved behind him and he bent down a bit to make it easier for her. She jumped onto his back and slipped her legs through the gap in between his arms and torso. He held her up as she draped her arms over his shoulders lazily. She put her chin where his neck and shoulder met each other. The night had brought in a cooler front, but she was perfectly warm and comfortable against his back. She could feel how his body moved as he trudged forward, and before barely any time had passed at all, she was lulled to sleep.

-A/N-

So I was right on my previous chapter, you didn't see chapter 4 until 2020 hahaha, I'm so bad. But in my defense, this chapter I feel was a bit longer than the others? Maybe? Anyway, today is 1/11/2020, and recently I have just been taken over by Star Wars XD. I wasn't Reylo until this last movie because I felt it should have ended differently. By the time you see this, I may have more Reylo stuff posted, and I can assure you, that just because I'm writing for two fandoms now does not mean that this story will be dropped. I have a set plan for this story and it's not aimless. I hope to be able to write a little more because I am pretty bad about it, but I actually have quite a bit of ideas in my head, it's just the process of writing it out because I'm a slow writer and get a little lazy. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this!
