It was a new beginning

A new start,

for most it was happy

a love filled occasion

but for others it was a reminder 

that people never change.

That people who hurt you

once

twice

and too many times to count

will not stop.

But maybe they don't realise

just how much they are breaking

and tearing you apart.

And so you forgive. 

But an illusion of love

will not mend the pieces

of your soul together.
