Christmas is an 'Institution'

celebrated far and wide.

And all the excitement of it

is extremely hard to hide.

Grandad wants a pair of slippers,

Uncle Jim, a brand new car.

Grandma wants a box of chocolates

She's still got her own teeth (so far!).

So we hunt for all our bargains

going from shop, to shop, to shop.

Oh, our poor feet they are aching.

All this and now we're fit to drop.

Mum's forgotten to order a turkey,

so now she has begun to fret.

And still we have to wrap our presents,

That's something we must not forget.

We must try to budget wisely, so

as not to pile on any more debt.

As Christmas is so very expensive

We haven't paid for last year's yet!

Running, running, round in circles

Faster, faster, watch us spin.

Oh, Christmas, it is such a headache,

when does the common sense kick in?

Christmas can cause lots of friction

And that fact is truth, not fiction,

But, despite the stress and strain

Next year, we'll do it all again!
