Dawn breaks
and with it, the Crow
Left to ponder as he watches
The sleek of the Raven
Far too large, far too aged
Far too marred with gore.

For when the Raven flies
The Crow is dwarfed.
And thus the Raven cries
And croaks, and shrills
While the Crow follows with its own call
Of contempt, of pique.
Alluring, far more than the Raven's croak
But strident all the same

For when the Raven's feathers become bloodied
The Crow follows
And with him, he leads a trail
Of seed, of red--
The trail of ends.

For when the seed is unearthed
From the puddled dirt
The whisp of feathers flies
Bloodied, dry
Liberated.

Piercing cries
With regret of scorn
For when the last Raven dies,
The Crow is left to mourn
