Oh, cousin of mine!
Do you remember languid Summer days?
Spent in blistering heat when we were freshly nine?
Whispering stories under unforgiving rays
As the too-high sun marked our time
We made castles out of the barn
To chase the boredom away
Under the sun, we swayed
Do you remember the summer days?

Oh, cousin of mine!
Do you remember crisp Autumn days?
As we rushed the kitchen, stifling hungry whines?
Chocolate-eyes dancing as you held your tray
Grin stretching wide, the beam a glaring shine
We stuffed ourselves with turkey and jam
As snow-heavy clouds weighed
Do you remember the Autumn days?

Oh, cousin of mine!
Do you remember blooming Spring days?
Spent clutching Easter twine?
Loose hair chasing eggs you made your prey
As we ran into the pine
We got caught in the knots of burr
And had to pick at the graze
Do you remember the Spring days?

A/N: Another one written for school. This was my AP Lang assignment, where we had to write an Ode to a woman who was important in our life for women's history month. I chose my cousin, who is one month older than me and my best friend, I only see her about three times a year. But due to the pandemic I haven't seen her since January, a meeting which was unfortunately for my grandpa's funeral.
