(We open up on the Kanto region on route 21. On one of the islands, a fisherman and his son were sitting together on one of the islands on the route. Soft waves rolled on the sand as the dad plunged his bait into the ocean.)

Son: *dips his feet into the ocean* ....Hey pa? Why do you have a full team of 6 magikarp?

Dad: Why not? You don't like magikarp?

Son: No, its just that....well....magikarp are weak....

Dad: *laughs* Oh Phil....they're weak rn, but with the proper care and training, they'll get stronger as time goes....you just can't give up on them! I mean, I didn't give up on you when you were just a weak lil baby! *pats the sons head*

Son: Hey! >~<

Dad: Hehehe...One day Phil, I'm gonna take you to Johto for your first pokemon....

Son: When will that be?

Dad: When I earn enough battle money of course, hehehe ^^"

(A few years later....Philip is now 11 years old and living with his dad in Johto.)

Dad: *walking with Philip to Ecruteak city for his first pokemon* Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile.....ah, can't you imagine it?

Philip: Nope! I can't wait!

(They soon came to a gathering in the city, where Professor Elm was giving a speech about starter pokemon. Philip and his Dad stood near a small but deep river that ran through the city.)

Elm: *going on about starter pokemon and what not*

(Suddenly, in the river next to Philip, uprised some bubbles...something was drowning and said river, and Philip just can't ignore it.)

Philip: *tries to pay attention and not look at the river*.......Ah!!! *jumps into the river*

Dad: PHILIP?!

(Philip swam to the depths of the river. Down there, he found a wild Wooper choking on a piece of trash and struggling to get away.)

Philip: *tears off the piece of trash, holding his breathe*

Wooper: *swims into him*

Philip: *holds the Wooper close to his chest and swims upwards*

(Philip gasped for air once his face reached the surface. He trudged out of the water, holding the rescued Wooper. Everyone stared at him.)

Philip: *pant*....*pant*.....Dad?

Dad: ?!

Philip: *looks at Woopers relieved face* I think I know which pokemon I want first.... *smiles*

Dad: But...its so weak....

Philip: ....*smiles* Not if I train it and care for it properly! *looks down at Wooper*

Wooper: *gives Philip a small smile*.

Philip: *smiles his first hardy smile*

(We then cut to a montage of Philip capturing and befriending various water types throughout the pokemon seas, before we end on a shot of Philip looking over at the Fulcre region while riding on a Gyrados.)
