Previously in Pokemon Chaos and Order...

Our heroes have met up with the Mistralton City Gym Leader, Skyla, and her less than conventional battling methods.

Nate has demanded a Battle against the Gym Leader and even though he put on an amazing battle, he eventually lost.

Not wanting to leave without teaching Skyla a lesson, Ash has challenged her to a Gym Battle exactly one day later.

"Alright then!" Exclaimed Miles, who was standing on the referee stand. "The Gym Battle between the Mistralton City Gym Leader, Skyla, and Ash the challenger is about to get underway!"

"This is a two-on-two battle. The Battle will be over as soon as both Pokemon of either side are unable to continue. Only the challenger will be allowed to substitute!"

Skyla and Ash walked up to either side of the battlefield and both grabbed a Pokeball. "SWOOBAT! BLAST OFF!" Skyla exclaimed before hurling her Pokeball high up in the air, releasing her first Pokemon.

"Swoobat!" It cried out. 'She's using Swoobat. Just like she did with Nate...' Ash thought before taking a look at his Pokedex.

Swoobat, the Courting Pokemon.

Swoobat produces multi-frequency sound waves which come from its nose.

'I gotta watch out for Swoobat's Assurance...' Ash reminded himself. 'The more I attack it, the more damage it will do...' Ash then grabbed his Pokeball. "FLETCHINDER! I CHOOSE YOU!" He exclaimed before hurling the Pokeball forward, releasing his Fire/Flying type Pokemon.

"FLETCHINDEEEEEEEEER!" It skwaked with power and determination. "I sure hope Ash can keep up with Skyla's battling style..." Nate murmured. "That's right..." Dawn agreed. "She's definitely unpredictable, so who knows what other trick she'll pull out of her sleeve. Especially since we don't know Swanna's forth move..."

"ASH IS GOING TO WIN!" Serena exclaimed, startling them both. "I know he will..." she put her hand on her heart after that last statement.

"Alright then! LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!" Miles exclaimed before bringing both his arms down, allowing the battle to officially begin.

"ALRIGHT FLETCHINDER, LET'S START THINGS OFF WITH ACROBATICS!" Ash gave the first command. Fletchinder's body glowed light blue, before gliding and zipping around the battlefield at top speed before diving down at Swoobat.

"ASSURANCE!" Skyla commanded. Swoobat's eyes glowed purple, then its whole body became surrounded by a purple, shadowy aura. Swoobat then charged at Fletchinder.

"OH NO!" Ash gasped while struggling to think of a strategy to counter the closing in Swoobat. Suddenly something in Ash's mind clicked, and he remembered the training he had earlier that day.

Earlier that day...

Ash is doing some last-minute Training with his Pokemon before his Gym Battle against Skyla. "FLETCHINDER! USE ACROBATICS! AND PIKACHU VOLT TACKLE!" He commanded. Both Pokemon readied their attacks and charged at each other.

"NOW FLETCHINDER! MOVE ASIDE AND AND THEN ATTACK!" Ash commanded. Fletchinder then swiftly avoided Pikachu's Volt Tackle before charging at it and hitting it from the side.

"FLETCHINDER REMEMBER OUR TRAINING!" Ash cried out. "MOVE TO THE SIDE AND THEN ATTACK!" He commanded. At the very last moment, Fletchinder managed to dodge Swoobat's Assurance before striking it from the side.

Skyla gasped, not expecting Fletchinder's speed. "I see you didn't see that coming!" Ash said in a confident yet teasing tone. Skyla pouted and crossed her arms. "No way! I'm just worried about Swoobat's well-being!"

'Sure...' Ash thought sarcastically. "Then maybe you'll be surprised by this!" Ash said. "USE RAZOR WIND!" Fletchinder flew back and began to flap its wings, causing its wings to glow white. Fletchinder then slashes the air in front of it, causing two powerful crescent-shaped blades of wind to blast forward and hit Swoobat directly.

"NOW! USE FLAME CHARGE!" Ash commanded. Fletchinder's eyes then lit up like fire before being surrounded by rings of fire. Fletchinder then flares up with red-orange-yellow flames before blasting forward like a meteor, moving faster by the second.

"Use Attract!" Skyla commanded nonchalantly. Swoobat then winks and blows a kiss at Fletchinder, causing multiple pink hearts to fly and surround it. "OH NO!" Ash cried out in worry. "Fletchinder is moving too fast for it to dodge that Attract!" Nate exclaimed worried.

Fletchinder looked confused as the hearts surrounded it. In just a few moments the hearts sank into Fletchinder, causing its body to flash pink.

However, instead of being infatuated by Swoobat, Fletchinder's eyes turned into broken hearts for a split second, before diving in even faster and colliding with Swoobat head on.

"WHY WASN'T IT INFATUATED?!" Skyla asked in a surprised and annoyed tone. "Well... my guess is that Skyla's Swoobat is a female, just like Ash's Fletchinder..." Nate said.

"Were you surprised?" Ash asked in a teasing tone. "No way! There was no way I could know that your Fletchinder was a female!" Skyla pouted, still trying to claim she can predict everything in a battle.

"But even so, we don't need Attract to win!" Skyla said. "We just need your Pokemon to be the same Type as mine! SWOOBAT! SYNCHRO-NOISE LET'S GO!" She commanded.

Swoobat's whole body became surrounded by a yellow, cyan and pink aura with purple sparks. Swoobat then spreads its wings causing the aura to transform into shockwaves of the same color. The shockwaves then hit Fletchinder, causing it to be surrounded by sparks and fall to the ground.

"OH NO FLETCHINDER!" Ash cries out in worry. "NOW USE ASSURANCE!" Skyla commanded once more, causing Swoobat to charge at Fletchinder and strike it with its talons.

After Swoobat stroke Fletchinder, Fletchinder's body started to glow red and orange. Suddenly, Swoobat looked at its talon, which had a red-hot glowing mark on it, causing Swoobat immense pain. Swoobat's whole body then became to release vapor and glow with a red hue.

"Wait! What just happened?!" Skyla asked. "Alright!" Ash exclaimed. "That's Fletchinder's Special Ability, Flame Body! It burns your Pokemon if it makes direct contact!"

"I wouldn't sound so cocky if I were you!" Skyla said with a confident tone, pointing at the fact that Fletchinder was really weak. Ash gasped, realising that if Fletchindet gets hit one more time, it's all over for it. "Kay Fletchinder, return for now!" He said before returning Fletchinder to its Pokeball.

Ash then kneels next to Pikachu. "What do you say Pikachu? Wanna battle?" He asks his partner. "PIKA!" Pikachu replies while giving Ash an enthusiastic arm pump.

"ALRIGHT THEN! PIKACHU I CHOOSE YOU!" Ash said while pointing his finger towards the Battlefield, causing Pikachu to run over towards the Battlefield, ready to battle.

"Electric-type Pokemon have the advantage over Flying-types right?" Serena asked her brother. Nate nodded. "So that means Ash has the advantage now right?" Dawn asked. "I can't say for sure..." Nate replied. "She does have a lot of tricks up her sleeve..."

"Judging by your Pikachu's tail I'm assuming it's a male..." Skyla said. Before Ash could even answer Skyla, she commanded. "USE ATTRACT!"

Swoobat then used Attract once more. Since Swoobat and Pikachu are of opposite genders, Swoobat's Attract would get Pikachu infatuated, so you'd think Ash would be at least a little worried. However, Ash was smirking his signature smirk.

"Pikachu, you know what to do!" Ash said. "PIKA!" Pikachu quickly replied as the pink hearts were rushing towards it. Before the hearts began to surround Pikachu, it transformed its tail into metal and slapped the hearts, causing them to dissipate.

Skyla gasped. "HOW DOES THAT EVEN WORK?!" She asked frantically. Ash smirked again. "Pikachu's Iron Tail is made of metal after all..." he explained. "As such it's reflective and can redirect attacks... AND Attracts!"

"NOW PIKACHU! USE ELECTRO BALL!" Ash commanded. Pikachu's body became outlined in electrical sparks and it then forms a gold and blue ball of electricity at the edge of its tail. Pikachu then jumps high in the air and hurled the electrical ball at a stunned Swoobat, causing a direct hit.

"SWOOBAT!" Skyla called out in worry. "WAY TO GO PIKACHU! NOW FINISH IT OFF WITH THUNDERBOLT!" Ash commanded. Pikachu then blasted a yellow and blue lightning bolt, surrounded by purple rings of electricity, at Swoobat.

Pikachu's Thunderbolt hit Swoobat, causing a huge electrical explosion. When the dust settled, Swoobat was knocked out cold on the ground, unable to continue. "Swoobat is unable to battle!" Miles exclaimed. "Pikachu is the winner!"

"You flew too close to the sun Swoobat..." Skyla said while returning Swoobat to its Pokeball. "Now rest up..."

"So Skyla, are you surprised now?" Ash asked in a teasing tone. "Swoobat was tired from the battle against your Fletchinder!" Skyla wined. "Besides, I totally predicted that you'd only stand a chance against we with your Pikachu now didn't I?"

Ash facepalmed. 'She's really in denial...' he thought. Skyla then grabbed her second Pokeball. "SWANNA! BLAST OFF!" She exclaimed while hurling her Pokeball forward, releasing her second Pokemon.

"SWANNA!" Swanna let out its cry as it sore high in the air. "Swanna is both a Water AND Flying-type Pokemon!" Dawn exclaimed. "So Ash has double the advantage!" "We can't be too confident..." Nate said with a sad tone. "We can just hope so..."

"ALRIGHT PIKACHU! USE VOLT TACKLE!" Ash commanded. Pikachu's body then became surrounded by an electrical aura, making it appear black and white. Pikachu then began to charge at Swanna, ready to attack.

"HURRICANE LET'S GO!" Skyla commanded. Swanna's wings glow light blue and it flaps them, releasing a powerful tornado-shaped gust of wind. The powerful winds of Swanna's Hurricane attack were strong enough to make Pikachu stop in its tracks and actually blow away the electrical aura.

Ash gasped. "Pikachu are you okay?!" Ash asked his partner worried. "Pika Pi!" Pikachu replied with a confident tone. "GREAT JOB BUDDY!" Ash replied. "NOW USE ELECTRO BALL!" He commanded.

Pikachu then hurled a ball of electricity at Swanna. "HURRICANE AGAIN!" Skyla commanded. Swanna then blew away a second powerful gust of wind at the Electro Ball, causing it to stop in its tracks and be blasted back at Pikachu, hitting it square in the face.

"ALRIGHT SWANNA NOW USE BUBBLE BEAM!" Skyla commanded before Ash could even process what happened to Pikachu. The inside of Swanna's beak glows light blue and it takes in a deep breath. It then releases multiple light blue and orange bubbles from its beak at Pikachu.

"PIKACHU!" Ash cries out in worry. "Please buddy you gotta get up!" He tried to tell his partner, who was struggling to get up. "I'm sorry, but this whole battle's as good as over for you!" Skyla said in a cocky tone. "FINISH PIKACHU OFF WITH BRAVE BIRD, SWANNA!" She commanded.

Swanna then flew high up into the sky with incredible speed. It then did a flip and began to nose (or in this case beak) dive back to the earth like a missile. The speed in which Swanna was going was enough to create enough air-friction to envelop Swanna in red-yellow flames.

Swanna the presumably crashed to the ground, creating a cloud of smoke. But almost immediately from said cloud of smoke, Swanna emerged, now flying at top speed towards Pikachu, surrounded by a pixelated aura of blue and white flames (which made its body appear black and blue).

"DODGE IT!" Ash tried to command his partner but it was too late, by the time Ash finished his sentence, Swanna's Brave Bird had already stroken Pikachu in the stomach. Pikachu was then sent flying backwards with incredible speed, creating a crater in the Gym's wall.

After a few moments, Pikachu came plummeting down towards the ground. After it hit the ground, Pikachu' energy was completely drained out of it and it was knocked out cold.

"Pikachu is unable to battle!" Exclaimed Miles. "Swanna wins!"

"PIKACHU!" Ash calls out to his injured partner while running towards it. Ash then picks Pikachu up with both of its arms, causing it to wake up.

Ash breathed out a sigh of relief. "You battled amazingly Pikachu. You deserve a good rest..."

Ash then walked over to his friends who were sitting at the audience stand. He then handed Pikachu over to Serena. "Hey Serena, can you keep Pikachu safe for me?" He asked her. "Of course Ash! You can count on me!" She replied with a warm and soothing tone.

Ash smiled at her before heading back to the battlefield. 'Don't give up 'till it's over...' Ash reminded himself before grabbing his Pokeball. "It's all up to you now... FLETCHINDER! I CHOOSE YOU!" He exclaimed while hurling his Pokeball forward, bringing Fletchinder back to the battle.

"Your Fletchinder obviously has a lot of spirit, considering that it already battled Swoobat and is still willing to go on..." Skyla said. "But it took a ton of damage and has a Type-disadvantage against Swanna. You still can't win!"

"Your Swanna is living-breathing proof to the fact that type-advantages don't matter in a Pokemon Battle!" Ash exclaimed. "And I believe in Fletchinder! Together, we have guts and spirit! That's how I know we're gonna win!"

"Your choice..." Skyla said. "USE LIQUIDATION!" She commanded. Swanna's body then became surrounded by blue rings of water. It then flew straight for Fletchinder, leaving a streak of sparkling water droplets behind it.

"ALRIGHT FLETCHINDER, COUNTER IT WITH YOUR SMOKIN' HOT FLAME CHARGE!" Ash commanded. Fletchinder became surrounded once more by red-yellow-orange flames, before charging at Swanna with top speed.

Swanna's Liquidation collided with Fletchinder's Flame Charge, causing a huge explosion in the middle of the battlefield, sending both Pokemon tumbling backwards.

"NOW USE ACROBATICS!" Ash commanded. Fletchinder then zipped around the Battlefield, glowing cyan, before beak-diving at Swanna. "BUBBLE BEAM!" Skyla commanded. The inside of Swanna's beak glows light blue and it takes in a deep breath. It then releases multiple light blue and orange bubbles from its beak at Fletchinder.

The barrage of bubbles threw Fletchinder out of balance, and sent it tumbling backwards, neutralizing its Acrobatics attack. "NOW FINISH WITH HURRICANE!" Skyla commanded.

Swanna's wings glowed light blue/white and once again it flapped them, releasing the same powerful gust of wind as before. The winds then hit Fletchinder, causing it to get whipped up by the Hurricane.

"FLETCHINDER NO!" Ash cried out in worry. Swanna's Hurricane attack also caused a cluster of dust to surround the battlefield, orbiting around the spinning windstorm and making it impossible to see what was going on inside.

Despite that fact, those with Keen Eyes would be able to notice a slight orange glow coming from inside the windstorm. After a couple of seconds a mighty skwak erupted from inside the windstorm, causing a shockwave to spread around the battlefield and stop Swanna's Hurricane.

The source of the skwak was a Pokemon. It was an avian Pokemon that closely resembled a falcon. Its plumage is predominantly red-orange, with gray underparts and black tips on its long, pointed wings. Ovular orange spots dot its underside, and flame patterns mark the boundaries between colors on its body. Large yellow talons extend from the shaggy feathers on its legs. It had a pointed crest atop its head and a black and yellow mask-like pattern around its eyes. Its black beak is hooked with a yellow cere. It also has long black tail-feathers marked with three yellow "v"-shapes. The tail ends in two points and has another feather sticking out of the base on each side.

"TALOOOOONFLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME!" It let out a mighty skwak. 'No way... Fletchinder Evolved?' Ash thought to himself before checking the Pokedex.

Talonflame, the Scorching Pokemon and the evolved form of Fletchinder.

During an intense battle, Talonflame expels embers from gaps between its feathers. It reaches speeds of more than three-hundred miles per hourchasing prey.

Ash's worried frown quickly turned upside down after this revelation. Skyla however, was feeling a bit worried. "No matter!" Skyla exclaimed. "We can still beat it! SWANNA! USE LIQUIDATION!" She commanded.

Swanna then charged at the newly-evolved Talonflame, surrounded by the same rings of water from before. "FLAME CHARGE!" Ash commanded. Talonflame then charged at Swanna, surrounded by the same red-yellow-orange flames from before.

Just like before, Swanna and Talonflame collided, creating an explosion and sending the two flying back. "LET'S NOT WASTE A SECOND TALONFLAME!" Ash exclaimed. "RAZOR WIND!" He commanded.

Talonflame flew back and began to flap its wings, causing its wings to glow white. Talonflame then slashes the air in front of it, causing two powerful crescent-shaped blades of wind to blast forward.

"BUBBLE BEAM!" Skyla commanded. Swanna then blasted another barrage of light-blue and orange bubbles. Some of the bubbles countered Talonflames's Razor Wind and some kept going and stroke Talonflame with force.

"TALONFLAME!" Ash called out in worry. 'I gotta find a way to deal with that Bubble Beam...' he thought. 'But how?!'

Ash then remembered that looking at Serena, for some reason, made him think straight and come up with new strategies so that's exactly what he did. As he glanced at Serena he immediately noticed both her worried expression, and Dawn's Piplup.

Ash's eyes widened, something in his mind having clicked, and he turned his attention back towards the Battlefield. "Kay Talonflame, I've got a plan!" Ash exclaimed. "USE STEEL WING!" He commanded.

Talonflame spread its wings, causing them to flash white before transforming into metal. Talonflame then began to charge at Swanna at top speed. "When will he learn?" Skyla murmured sarcastically. "SWANNA, FINISH IT OFF WITH BUBBLE BEAM!" She commanded.

Swanna then released one last barrage of bubbles at Talonflame. Ash then smirked. "NOW TALONFLAME! SPIN!" He commanded. Talinflame appeared confused for a moment but it quickly realised what its Trainer meant, and it began to spin around its own axis, popping any bubble that came near it.

Skyla gasped, but before she could give Swanna another command, Ash interrupted her. "FINISH IT OFF TALONFLAME! BRAVE BIRD!" He commanded.

Talonflame then flew high up into the sky with incredible speed. It then did a flip and began to nose (or in this case beak) dive back to the earth like a missile. The speed in which Talonflame was going was enough to create enough air-friction to envelop it in red-yellow flames.

Talonflame collided with Swanna before Skyla could even blink, its speed was unbelievable. When the dust settled and the smoke cleared, Talonflame flew back towards Ash, panting uncontrollably. Swanna however, was knocked out cold.

"Swanna is unable to battle!" Miles exclaimed. "Talonflame wins! Which means the match goes to Ash the challenger!" "ALRIGHT!" Ash exclaimed excitingly as he tackled Talonflame into a hug.

"Very well Ash..." Skyla said. "You did something nobody was able to do before. You proved me wrong! I now see that you can't always account for everything that happens in a battle, and as proof that you beat me... here!"

She handed Ash a Badge. It was shaped like a stylized feather, with a soaring bird at the bottom.

Ash took a moment to marvel at his new achievement, before thanking Skyla and placing his Jet Badge in his Badge Case, right next to the Quake Badge.

As our heroes walked out of the Gym to Arceus-knows-where, Serena approached Ash. "Hey Ash!" She said, catching his attention. "Oh hey Serena!" He said. "What's up?"

"I just wanted to ask how did you come up with that strategy of making Talonflame spin?" She asked him. Ash smirked. "From you!" He answered, to her delight and surprised.

"I remembered how your Piplup used Drill Peck to deflect Piloswine's Ice Shard and I thought I could incorporate something similar here!" Serena blushed. "Well... happy to help!" She stuttered before the two regrouped with Dawn and Nate.

On their way to Iciruss City, sight of Ash's 7th Unova Gym Battle Challenge, our heroes are offered a spot on Professor Juniper's Pokemon Summer Camp, which takes place in Lentimas Town.

Seeing it as an opportunity, our heroes agree, and once there they go on all sorts of adventures, meeting old friends and making new ones.

How will this affect our heroes? Will this bring them closer together or further apart?
