Ash is battling a Catrepie with his Pikachu. Maestro, Leaf, and Misty look on. Ash is able to catch the Pokemon. He gets super excited!

Ash: Did you guys see that? This is my first step to becoming a Pokemon Master.

Maestro looks at Ash with unimpressed face.

Ash: What's with that look?

Maestro: It's nothing. Just know that you'll be seeing this face a lot.

Ash: You think you're better than me don't you?

Maestro: I know I am.

Ash: Then let's have a battle now!

Misty: Ash, that's a terrible idea! Have you seen how powerful he is? You won't stand a chance!

Ash: He's just a beginner. He's not better than me.

Maestro: I'm giving you one chance to walk away, Ash.

Ash: I'm not backing down.

Leaf: (Sigh) This is going to be a disaster.

Misty: You can say that.

Ash and Maestro prepare to battle.

Maestro: Last chance.

Ash: I'm going to put you in your place! Now show me the best pokemon on your team!

Maestro: Sorry. That's not happening.

Ash: You scared?

Maestro: No. It's just my Pokemon might kill yours. The journey just started. So, who are you sending out?

Ash: Before we begin, you can't do any of those fancy techniques.

Maestro: That's fine. I don't need to anyway.

Ash: Okay, Pikachu, I choose you!

Pikachu gets set to battle.

Maestro: Electric. Okay. This isn't personal, Pikachu. Just blame your trainer. Lucario, I choose you!

[Lucario appears ready to battle]

Maestro: Lucario, your ready?

Lucario looks at Pikachu unimpressed. He then looks at Maestro.

Maestro: I feel you but he challenged us. We don't back down.

Lucario growls in agreement and then prepares to battle Pikachu.

Ash: First move is yours!

Maestro: (Sigh) Lucario, use BONE RUSH!

Lucario goes to attack.

Ash: Pikachu, dodge it!

Maestro: You're too slow, Ash.

Lucario lands a critical hit on Pikachu.

Ash: Pikachu!

Maestro: (Sigh) You done?

Ash: No! I have one more to battle with!

Maestro: It's your Caterpie isn't it?

Ash: Yeah! Caterpie, I choose you!

Maestro: Okay, I'll change my Pokemon. Lucario, return. Charizard, I choose you!

Charizard appears and growls loudly.

Maestro: You ready, buddy?

Charizard sees Caterpie and turns to Maestro with an annoyed look on his face.

Maestro: I feel you but they challenged us. Let's put them in their place.

Ash: I go first.

Maestro: Nope. The stronger Pokemon always goes first. Unless your Pokemon holds a special item or you use a certain move and I'm pretty sure you don't know it.

Ash: Then tell me!

Maestro: You want to a Pokemon master? Learn on your own! Charizard, use FLAMETHROWER!

Charizard fires a fire beam at Caterpie. Caterpie faints.

Maestro: (Sigh) Now you're done!

Ash looks down in disappointment.

Ash: I lost.

Maestro: Learn to pick your opponent better.

Ash: I'll never be a Pokemon master.

Maestro: Keep at it, Ash. You'll get better. I just know it.

Ash: Thanks.

Misty: You're so strong! You could beat the champion!

Maestro: (Thoughts) You have no idea.

The day ends to the group finds a place to rest. They put out the sleeping bags and lie down.

Ash: Night, guys.

Others: Night.

Maestro is the first one to fall asleep. Little did he know that a two pairs of eyes looked at him in determination to sleep next to him.
