Ash and Gary were at Professor Oak's lab, playing with the Pokemon to cure their boredom. Gary was enjoying himself playing with Eevee, but it was more enjoyable for him to stare at Ash's cute face and listen to his adorable laugh. He'd look at him and smile every now and then, somehow not getting noticed by the younger teen.

Suddenly, all of the Pokemon scurried to their hiding places, leaving Ash and Gary confused. They turned around to see a large Charizard roaring in their faces. It was clearly distressed, but the cause was a mystery. Gary started to scream, but Ash quickly covered his mouth.

"Quiet"

Gary stood still and muffled screams could be heard from Ash's palms, but he calmed down when the saw the Charizard stabilizing. Ash eyed it carefully.

"Charizards' tempers get quicker when they're sleepy, and they can only sleep in quiet atmospheres"

He removed his hand, allowing a confused Gary to exhale.

"How do you know that?"

"I know a lot of things. We need to stay quiet for a few seconds, because this is actually a really dangerous situation. If Charizard gets too angry, it'll burn the lab down"

They both sat in silence, waiting for the Charizard to close its eyes already. Things were going smoothly until Ash spotted a man on the roof holding a gun.

'It's a shooter! He must be taking the perfect opportunity to fire!'

He looked at Gary, who the shooter was aiming at, then the Charizard.

'If he shoots Gary, not only will Gary get hurt, but he'll scream and Charizard will spiral out of control. I can't scream at him. I guess there's only one solution...although Gary might not like it'

He waited or when the shooter had his finger on the trigger, then rushed over to Gary and swung his arms around him. His head rested on Gary's chest, and it wasn't long before he felt a sharp pain in his back and heard a sharp gasp come from above. The shooter shook for a moment before making his escape. Ash's hands shook as he gritted his teeth. He looked to his back to see three sharp arrow-like bullets piercing into his skin.

"A....Ash....", Gary whimpered as he was too shocked to move.

"Shhh...just a few more seconds"

He could feel the blood dripping down his jacket. He could feel the agony in his body. This bullet must've been some sort of poison.

The Charizard finally closed its eyes and rested his head on the grass, and as soon as Ash was sure he was sleeping, he moaned in pain as he collapsed backwards, Gary catching him by the shoulders and leaning him against a rock. Ash breathed softly but rapidly, pulling the bullets out of his back with his own hands. Gary held him tightly and cried into Ash's hair, laying him down onto his lap and stroking it.

"Ash..."

"It's okay...I'm okay...at least you and everything else is fine"

"You're bleeding so much..."

"I...I'm..."

Gary held Ash's hand to his cheek and watched as Ash fell unconscious in his arms, whispering his last 'I'm fine' before his head fell onto Gary's chest.

"Professor Oak only owns one Charizard...and it's definitely not as angry as this one..."

Soon, Professor Oak arrived to the scene and carried Ash into a room and lay him down on the bed, letting his blood stain the white sheets.

"That bullet was definitely poisoned. I always knew Ash was selfless...but...I didn't think he'd be brave enough to take a bullet for anyone. Even if it is you, the Pokemon, and the lab. That kid really has some guts", Oak praised as he slammed the keys on his computer.

Gary sat close to Ash and held hand, crying into it.

A few minutes later, a trainer arrived to the lab, claiming the Charizard and walking into the room. A trainer with blue eyes and a blue scarf...

I don't even know how any human being would even manage to get into this situation, but it is Ash and Gary after all...
