 She stared in awe at the well made village. She noticed one small hut on the village ground. I wonder what that is. She thought. Maybe a shed of supplies or something. It was the only house on the ground.

"Eek!" She heard a shout from above her. "What is that!? Why doesn't it have fur!?" A daer above her yelled. Other Daers turned to stare, and the kids hid in the treetops, almost as if it was protocol. A bunch of male Daers with sharper horns stood in a line in front of them.

"What is that, Owl? Why is it in our village?" One of them asked. Skya didnt like being called an 'it' She turned to Owl nervously. He was perfectly calm.

"This is Skya. She is a human, and is harmless. If you find another human by following my trails, take her back here as well." Owl said to the guards. They looked at one another and nodded.

"Fine. But don't try anything, human." He growled at her. Owl led her through the village, taking her up a well-made ramp to the treetops. He led her to a huge tree-house that had intricately carved details.

"This is the village chief's house." He explained. She marveled at its beautiful carvings.

"Did you make some of those?" She asked. Owl shook his head.

"No, but one day, I will add to it like all the carvers before me. Every carver has one master carving to do in their lifetime, after their apprentice is trained" He said, eyes shining. The same goes for the trees in the village. Each was grown by a Daer with Treemagic." he explained.

Skya remembered he had said something earlier about treemagic, something about a Brokenhorn?

"So isn't that the magic of the Brokenhorn?" She asked. Owl nodded. "What is a Brokenhorn anyway?" She said. Owl looked down at the wooden floor. He looked sad, but he shook his head, as if he was shaking out an annoying thought, and replied;

"That's what we call a Daer that has broken their horns. They get shunned from the village, and ignored before the leave. If a Daer breaks their horns, they lose magic, and it is the lowest shame for us." He explained. "Let's go see the chief." He changed the subject.

Skya guessed he didn't like that topic or tradition too well. They knocked on the thick wooden doors of the tree-mansion. The knock echoed hollowly throughout the house, and the heard footsteps before the door opened. Standing in the doorway was a tall, muscled, Daer. He had a silver-wooded crown, and a red stone sat in the middle of it as a gem. He had gold shoulder-plates, and a flower necklace around his neck. Owl bowed.

"Hello father. As you can see, I have discovered a new type of.. creature! This is a human. Her name is Skya. She walks and talks like us, but she is not us." Owl introduced her. Skya cleared her throat, clearly intimidated

"Y-yes. Hello. Uh. M-my friend Oceana Should show up soon. She looks like me, except she has short blue hair and has goggles, and might be in the forest studying your plants." Skya explained, trying to be respectful. The chief nodded, looking thoughtful.

"Are these 'humans' as you call them, dangerous, Owl? did you bring us a destroyer of villages?" The chief rumbled, looking at Owl accusingly. Skya shook her head.

"We came out of curiosity, and I didn't mean to be here, because Oceana took me to the portal without me knowing. We come from Earth." She said, gaining confidence.

"Is Earth another dimension?" The Chief asked. "Are there more of you coming?" He narrowed his eyes. "I think this place is full enough." He commented. "Did you leave a Hoovetrail for her to follow?" he asked Owl. Owl nodded. "Fine then, Skya, go meet the village." He gestured at the door.

Skya followed Owl outside into the now setting sunlight. The sky was pink with swirls of red bursting out from behind the orange-ish looking clouds. She smiled. She wanted to stay here forever.
