Chapter 2

●●●

After Jimin had quickly slipped into something presentable, a white t-shirt and jeans as well as some silver earrings, and had fixed his hair, he grabbed the keys for his car, a black Honda Civic. Not the best car, but Jimin was proud of it. He had worked for it himself and after saving some money from his Saturday job for three years he had finally been able to afford it. His mother had offered getting him a better one, but it felt good to buy something with his own money so he had declined.

Even so he did feel somewhat embarrassed when he knocked on the door of Taehyung's apartment at the thought of Taehyung seeing his poor excuse of a car, but those worries were quickly forgotten when the door swung open and the person opening it was not Taehyung.

The first thing Jimin saw was, well, a muscular upper body, with tattoos winding all the way from his chest and arms down to where they disappeared in the seam of wide gray sweatpants that hung way too low for it not to be absolutely sexual. They revealed a strong v-line and a small trail of hair that lead down to... Jimin forced himself to look up and his heart almost stopped in his chest when he came face to face with Jungkook again.

The boy was leaning onto the door frame, not giving a fuck that he was half naked, mustering Jimin up and down, his eyes devoid of any emotions. The only way Jimin could have described it was that Jungkook looked mean. Scary even. And bored. Also like he was annoyed that Jimin was here, but instead of going all scary and saying something to Jimin, Jungkook simply turned around.

"Tae, that kid is here!"

"Coming!" Came back from inside and Jimin didn't know whether to feel offended for being called a kid or not, but he didn't have long to think about it because Jungkook stepped through the door, towering over Jimin, and for a second Jimin expected him to hit him or something like that, but then Jungkook simply slipped outside, grabbing a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and walking down the hallway of the dorm, still half naked. Jimin wasn't going to be the one to point that out.

Instead he turned around again, relieve washing over him when Taehyung's face appeared in the doorway. "Jiminie, you're early."

Jimin blushed at the nickname. "Sorry. If you want me to I could..." He pointed at the hallway, indicating that he could simply leave, but Taehyung simply laughed and shook his head. "No no. Don't. I'm done already anyways."

Just then Jimin noticed his outfit. Taehyung was wearing a plain black shirt with long sleeves and white jeans, but in addition with his raven black hair that was a bit too long already and almost covered his eyes he looked ridiculously attractive. Manly, but not in a forced way due to his rather broad build, and overall just comfortable.

"You look good." Jimin was glad that his voice didn't show any signs of how fucking nervous he actually was.

"Thanks." Taehyung grinned, grabbing his jacket. "Let's go."

Not long after they were sitting in a small café Taehyung had suggested because Starbucks was quite expensive for broke college students. It was a family run business and Jimin had to admit that he really liked it there. He would have to write down the name of it later, just to make sure he'd find this place again.

"So Jimin, what do you do?" Taehyung asked. It was just small talk but Jimin was glad for the opportunity of telling Taehyung about himself and hearing about Taehyung too.

"Right now I'm majoring business. My interests are actually more in an entertainment industry direction, but that is somewhat unrealistic, so I want to make sure to have a backup plan."

"Entertainment industry? What exactly?"

"I enjoy dancing a lot... and I sing. Never really took lessons for singing but I spend a lot of time at home singing along my favorite songs..." Jimin explained a bit embarrassed and sipping on his hot chocolate.

Taehyung watched him with attentive eyes.

"What do you do?" Jimin asked.

"Majoring in business and photography. I'm already doing some smallish jobs on the side but nothing big. My goal is being a professional photographer someday." He explained, running his hand through his hair and god Jimin was so into him. Even the way Taehyung blinked was sexy.

"That's pretty cool." Jimin stated, his eyes watching the way Taehyung's adam's apple moved when he swallowed some tea. He forced himself to look up at Taehyung's face again. Taehyung was paying attention to him. He couldn't just drool over him like he usually did in class.

"I think so too. Did you move here recently? I never really noticed you in class before and I usually know everyone."

Taehyung had noticed him... again Jimin felt giddy at that piece of information. "Yeah, I did." Jimin smiled brightly at him. "I was in Busan before."

"That has to be harsh. Did you have to leave anyone behind? Maybe a boyfriend? Dramatic love story?" Taehyung chuckled, making a circular motion with the glass in his hand, watching as the tea started spinning.

"I wish. Never had one." If Taehyung was surprised, he didn't let it show. "And friends I had to leave behind a lot, which is pretty sad, but I hope I'll make some new ones here soon."

Taehyung nodded, taking another sip of his tea. "I'm sure you will. You seem easy to talk to."

Jimin beamed on the compliment. "Thanks. It's pretty easy to have a conversation with you though. You're super nice and great to talk to."

Taehyung laughed. "I'm glad you think so."

They spent a good hour talking about school and life and told some stories about things that had happened to them. Overall the atmosphere was great, but Jimin couldn't help but feel like Taehyung wasn't really opening up. Of course he wouldn't on their first time talking, but he was being oddly distant.

Jimin didn't spend too much time thinking about it though, instead just enjoying Taehyung's presence.

"Jimin?"

He had gotten lost in his thoughts. He quickly averted his gaze from the now empty cup in front of him and instead looked up at Taehyung. "Hm?"

"Why did you ask me out? I mean, yeah, I know that's an awkward question to ask, but you can be honest with me. I'd just like to hear it."

Jimin hesitated. "I just... I don't know. You always stand out next to everyone. Like you're beautiful and amazing and so nice to everyone. You're always doing things for others instead of for yourself. And you even said yes when I asked you out... You're just seriously so cool."

Unlike Jimin had expected Taehyung pressed his lip into a thin line, leaning backwards in his seat.

"Jimin... just some advice for the future. Don't idolize people. Like, I know you have a crush on me..." Jimin stopped breathing. "...and you see everything through rose colored glasses but I'm not that great and I really don't think anyone is that great."

Jimin frowned. But Taehyung seriously was that amazing. He was just about to interject but Taehyung kept going. "Wanna know why I came here with you? The absolutely nice and totally for you reason?"

Not knowing what Taehyung was about to tell him he nodded. He really wanted to know.

"Because you have a nice ass. And face. Just a good body I could get off to."

Jimin froze, not knowing what to say.

"I'm not saying that to be mean, but just because I want to be honest with you. I'm in no way looking for a relationship. Maybe a date and then fucking, but that's about as romantic as it gets. I know that from what you told me about yourself, you've never been in a relationship. You've never had sex. Honestly I'm not annoyed, because talking to you was fun, but I just want you to know where I stand."

Jimin could feel adrenaline wash through him. He was being rejected. And he really didn't know how exactly to feel about it. Because Taehyung was right. What he was saying really did clash with the picture Jimin had drawn himself of Taehyung. The whole nothing romantic concept didn't seem to quite fit. "I..." He had no idea what to say. What the hell was he supposed to reply to something like that? "You're not interested in a relationship?" Jimin heard himself ask, before realizing that it sounded different from how he meant it. "Like, I'm not talking about you not being interested in a relationship with me... just nothing at all?"

Taehyung shook his head, leaning back in his seat. "You know Jungkookie? My roommate?"

Jimin nodded slowly. The nickname Jungkookie sounded weird, but he knew who Taehyung meant. A certain black haired boy with scary eyes and a mean mouth.

"We are dating. Somewhat. Open relationship and sometimes we break up, but then we're together again. It's a bit complicated." Taehyung stated and for the first time Jimin felt like he was receiving a bit of openness from Taehyung.

"You know him?" Jimin asked. Of course Taehyung knew him, but Jimin hoped to get an answer on how. More out of curiosity than anything else. The fact that he was being rejected over a existing relationship softened the blow somehow, but there was a heavy feeling in Jimin's stomach he would have to deal with later, nevertheless.

"Yeah. We grew up together." Taehyung stated, grabbing his tea glass just to realize it was empty already. Sighing he put it down again. "And we're roommates."

Jimin nodded. "He's kind of scary if I'm being honest."

Taehyung looked at him for a couple of seconds before his eyes crinkled up. "Jungkookie's not scary."

Jimin could tell simply by the look in Taehyung's eyes when he mentioned Jungkook that he had absolutely no chance against him. Not like he even would have tried, but for some reason that made him feel a bit better. Taehyung just had someone he cared about already... and of course Jimin was being a bit too... shallow, but he was going to work on that.

He was sure whoever he would end up being interested in next he would make sure to talk to properly before, not assuming he already knew them. Getting to know the type of person they were.

"I'm glad that you're happy with him." Jimin stated and he really meant it. It always made him happy to see others happy... and he was sure that the two of them would probably work through whatever was complicated and start dating properly.

"You know... Wanna hang out again? I mean, we could just hang out as friends." Taehyung suggested and Jimin smiled, getting over his 'heartbreak' rather quickly. Of course he was. For it to be actually painful he would have had to be in love for real and the longer Jimin thought about it the more he realized that Taehyung had really just been a crush.

"I'd love that."
