1.      Hi, everyone. I am Tran Van Anh and my partner is Bui Minh Trang. Today we are going to introduce an interesting and familiar topic. Now, see a picture on the screen and guess what is it? ..... Ok?  .....Yes, exactly. Thank you for your answer.

2.      To present this topic, there are three major sectors. First we will study about connection between the development of technology and people's needs, and how modern technology has affected our life. Finally, in my conclusion, I will give some solutions to problems that modern technology has caused.

3.      Now, looking at context sector, I will show you the differences between the past and the present that are due to the change in technology.

4.      As you can see, in the past, people lived in houses which were made from natural materials such as trees. They only could travel from place to place either by horses or on foot. Moreover, to keep in touch with other people from far distance, they contact by hand-letter. At that time, postman is trained pigeon and the letter was tied on its leg.

5.      But nowadays, as the world is developing more and more rapidly, along with people's higher demand, technology also gets a great progress in every aspects of life: travel, contact, building and entertainment.

6.      Firstly, traveling between far distance, people can use many types of transports. For example, on the ground, people can use cars or trains, on the water, they can transport by ships and the fastest way is using planes on the air.

7.      Next, contact is also becoming more and more convenient. We can get in touch a lot easier through telephone, mobile phones and emails. You also can usually update more information of your family and friends from facebook. Even if you live far family, you can still see your parents and friends through using chat voice in yahoo messenger or Skype.

8.      Thirdly, modern and well-equipped skyscraper such as hotels, towers, and even many famous architecture structures can be seen in every country. The picture on the left is the house of Bill Gates, who founded Microsoft and used to be the richest man in the world. On the right hand side, this is the tallest building in the world which is built inDubai.

9.      As the growth of technology has helped human's life in many ways, people have more free time and a new aspect has been more and more desired, entertainment, which is our last effect of modern technology. Some examples from entertainment can easily be found are: listening to music, playing either consoles or mobile games, shopping online...has now become a part of our life.

10.  Turning to the second sector of our topic, Effects, we all know that everything has both strengths and weaknesses.  So does the development of technology.

11.  First, let's take a look at the benefits that modern tech has brought to lives. You can see that now we are living in a better world, in comparison with lives in the past. We have higher living standard such as low level of poverty in the world, everyone has chance to be educated, so on and so forth. Moreover, it's obvious that no one can deny the flexibilities of modern technology; we can move between place to place easier, can perform multi-tasking. Also, thanks to MT, in health-care ground, we are now provided with variety of medicine and modern treatment that protect us from a lot of diseases, erase even the deathly things like cancer, HIV/AIDS. It also plays a major role on tourism and services field since you are able to search tourist attractions, book a travelling tour, arrange a suitable hotel, buy train/airline ticket without moving off your seat.

12.  However, we also need to consider the drawbacks of technology. There are still some undeniable problems that we are facing. We are getting lazier everyday because we are so dependent on modern technology. Playing video games too much will easily get teenagers addicted and make them only stay in 1 place, eat fast foods and cause many health problems. Youngster abuse modern technology on chatting or making friends on Internet which results in their losing ability to communicate and they're becoming isolated from real world. Too many transports on the roads cause traffic jams and congestions, a great concern in the world. Furthermore, they usually drive instead of walking or cycling. So, as a result, carbon emissions from cars and motorbikes have greatly increased the level of air pollution. Emissions and wastages from factories during production play a huge role in a high level of water pollution and other type of pollutions. Consequently, all of these damage the ozone layer and cause the greatest problem that is happening on the Earth right now, global warming.

13.  In conclusion, modern technology has a huge impact on changing people's way of living. Mainly they are beneficial and essential to global economics growth; therefore, we should not abandon it. Instead, we should try to solve the problems and cure the Earth, question are, how to improve its advantages and how to deal with those undesirable drawbacks. These following ideas can be seen as some solutions: using public transportation services to reduce the level of using cars and motorbikes, hence, lower pollution level, creating more green-belt so more trees can be plant and create more oxygen, investment on green technology that will make less and less pollution in the future, environment campaign and better education that can increase awareness from people about global warming and saving the Earth.
