Chapter Nineteen
Primadonna

THE FAIR AT Valley Fest was always something Sydney looked forward to.  Splurging out on junk food,  spending her money on games and winning prizes,  and riding rides till she felt sick.  The sun was starting to settle and Sydney had already ate four corn dogs and two funnel cakes.  "Sydney,  you're going to make yourself sick."  Sam laughed at her.  The two friends were walking through the busy event.

Sydney was currently holding a stuffed dog she had won at one of the games in her arms and eating a thing of nachos.  "Sam,  I haven't had this much junk food in years.  Let me be."  She said and ate another nacho.

Sam chuckled and shook her head.

Sydney followed her to where Robby was and the two of them began practicing for the demo they were presenting tonight.  Sydney felt slightly guilty that she knew Cobra Kai was going to show up but she didn't say anything and only encouraged them.

The sky grew dark and everyone gathered around the stage.  "Alright alright,  coming up next,  do I have a treat for you.  Please direct your attention to the Larusso Auto Booth for a presentation from Miyagi-Do Karate."

Sydney stood with Demetri and Moon and they walked over to Daniel's booth to watch. Moon smiled at the plush dog on her hands. "Aww, who's he for?"

Sydney grinned. "Miguel."

"that's so cute." moon swooned.

Demetri rolled his eyes. "Gag."

The lights dimmed and everyone paid attention to the performance.  Three silhouettes appeared on stage with a bonsai tree symbol in the background.  They began their perform while soft music played over them.  Sydney smiled at them,  feeling proud.  Their movements were beautiful.

"Is there going to be any fighting?"  Moon whispered.

"I think so."  Demetri replied,  unsure.

Sydney frowned.

They then began the bo staffing routine.  The crowd awed in amazement.  When they were finished,  Sydney clapped in excitement.

"Now time for the grand finale."  Daniel announced.

He rolled out the table with blocks of ice standing in it.  Before anything could happen,  the music and lights were cut off.  Sydney's heart dropped slightly.  "Oh no."

"Cobra Kai!"

Sydney squeezed her eyes shut at their voices.

"Cobra Kai!  Cobra Kai!  Cobra Kai!  Cobra Kai!"  The Cobra Kai dojo charged as they jogged through the crowd.  They were sporting their black gi's.  The crowd watched them jog to the stage on the other side of Daniel's and they followed them.

Moon and Demetri started to follow them.  "Syd,  are you coming?"  Moon asked her.

Sydney looked between her,  Sam and her dad,  and Cobra Kai.  She felt her body tugging all over the place not being able to decide.  She glanced at Sam and frowned before following Moon and Demetri to the Cobra Kai stage.  The large Cobra Kai symbol was plastered in the back and smoke and lights went off around them.  The students came jogging onto the stage and Sydney smiled when she saw Miguel.  She clutched the stuffed animal in her arms.

They showed off their kicks and punches along with the spins they had been learning.  The crowd was cheering like crazy.  Sparks started to shoot out from the sides of the stage.  Sydney's eyes widened.

They watched Miguel and Hawk start to spar with Charlie and some other boys on the team.  "Go Mig!"  Sydney shouted into her hands.

Miguel smiled at the cheering crowd and his eyes caught her's in the middle of everyone.  He blew her a kiss.

Aisha performed her trick of smashing wooden board while blind folded.  Sydney watched in interested as she went down the line of boards.  She cheered loudly.  "This is so badass!"

Hawk walked to the front of the stage and picked Demetri up by the back of his flannel,  dragging him onto the stage.  Sydney leaned closer to moon.  "Let's hope he doesn't break him."

Moon giggled.

Hawk handed Demetri a board and he held it away from his body,  shutting his eyes.  Charlie stood on the side and cupped his hands together.  Hawk ran forward and stepped into his hands,  spinning and throwing his foot clean through the board,  breaking it cleanly.

Moon and Sydney gripped each other's hands and hollered loudly.

Finally,  Johnny was performing his concrete blocks trick.  The students stacked the cinder blocks on each other.  Johnny had two of the boys light them on fire.  Sydney bit her nails in interest.  When the flames were high enough,  Johnny got in a stance and smashed his first through the cinder blocks.  That was a show stopped because the crowd of people went crazy.  "Cobra Kai!  Cobra Kai!  Cobra Kai!"  They began chanting.  Sydney found herself chanting with them.

When they exited the stage,  Sydney pushed through the crowd and went backstage where they all stood.  Sydney found Miguel and squealed,  throwing her arms around his shoulders.  "Babe,  that was awesome."

Miguel smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist,  picking her up slightly.  "I told you it would be badass."

He sat her down and leaned down,  capturing her lips with his.  He pulled away and looked down at the animal in her hands.  "Aww,  who's he for?"

Her cheeks went red and she held the stuffed dog in front of her face.  "Um. . . I got him for you."

His face lit up and he took the stuffed animal.  "Aww,  thanks baby."

They shared another long,  sweet kiss.

By the time she finished her dance,  Sydney was covered in sweat.  Her long hair that was wrapped in a bun surrounded her head and stuck the side of her cheeks and back of her neck. She bent down and rested her hands on her knees in exhaustion.

"Very good, Sydney. I think you're ready for next weekend." Rosemary complimented from the back of the room.

Sydney had been rehearsing the past week for a dance competition they were going to in San Diego. It was a lyrical dance called Say Something, Say Anything. It was beautiful and showed off her long legs and technique.

Sydney smiled tiredly. "Thank you. I'm really excited."

"Go get a drink and we'll run through it again." The teacher said.

Sydney walked out of the rehearsal room to where her bag was at. She sat on the bench and took out her water bottle, chugging it. Sailor entered the room and smirked at the tired girl. "Feeling the burn?"

"You could say that." Sydney breathed and then chuckled.

"Are you excited for the competition?" Sailor asked and sat beside her on the bench.

"I am," Sydney nodded. "I haven't competed in ages. I feel like I'll probably be rusty, though."

"From what I've heard, Rosemary adores you. I think you'll be fine." The curly haired girl assured.

Sydney grinned.  "Thanks.  How's your dance coming along?"

"It's great.  Its jazz contemporary which is what I do best in."  Sailor boasted.

Sydney smiled.  "Can't wait to watch."

After a few more hours of practice,  the girls were good to go for the day.  Sydney slid into her car and drove to the dojo to pick Miguel up.  She pulled into the parking lot to see him leaning on one of the pole's outside,  waiting for her.

He walked up after seeing her car and sliding in the passenger seat.  "Hey babe."  He greeted.

"Hey love."  She replied and leaned to the side,  kissing him quickly.

He grinned at her sweaty appearance.  "You look cute."

She rolled her eyes.  "Thanks.  I smell like a pig."

"A very cute pig."

She rolled her eyes and grinned.  "How was training."

He gave a small shrug.  "Uh,  it was okay."

She glanced at him to see his expression fall and furrowed her brows. "Is every okay?"

"Yeah, it's just. . ."  he started. "I'm a little worried about kreese."

"The man that used to train Johnny?"

Miguel nodded. "Yeah, I don't know there just something off about him."

"Have you said anything to Johnny?" Sydney asked while keeping her eyes on the road.

"I did before you showed up. He said there's nothing to worry about but I still have a weird feeling."

"Always trust your gut, mig. Oif there's something off, there's something off." She confirmed.

He thought about it for a second but shook his head. "I'm probably just being paranoid."

She pursed her lips and grabbed his hand, kissing the front of his palm.

He smiled at her. "Got any plans for tomorrow?"

"Aisha wants me to go to the beach club with her cause her parents are making her go," she informed. "Do you want to go?"

He shook his head. "Nah, I'll probably just stay here and hang out with Hawk. Let you have a girls day."

Sydney smiled at him lovingly and looked back at the road, squeezing his hand.
