Justine McCain was that hope he longed for. Plus, one of the few people who believed his origin story. Her father, Officer Dan McCain, did not. He 'knows' every word Noel spits out is nothing but lies to make people pity him.

Another hits Dan quickly as his own wife, Trisha, believed the boy's story. She could see clearly he wasn't lying about his life as his body is perfectly shows damage that he cannot fix himself. Dan's hatred reaches it's peck once Trisha and Justine proved Noelan with a home on their land.
