We stayed in Rose's Fountain for a few days, just hiding from everything. I didn't realize what kind of personality Pearl had until I talked to her for those three days. She told me everything about her and Pink Diamond, though I kept imagining Steven the entire time, she told me what Pink looked like in the most loving way. Apparently, she looked so much like me, maybe it's because I was made in the same area as her? Pink Diamond's gem looked exactly like mine too, but on her belly and the top of the Diamond was facing down, she told me.

"She was wrong too," then she winced and covered her mouth like she bit her lounge. "I mean- I didn't mean it like that! You aren't wrong... I just meant that she was supposed to be Red too!" then she sighed and lowered her head towards the pool of water we were sitting in. "And Pearl, White Diamond's Pearl, she was... made differently than expected too. She supposed to be Red's Pearl, but since she was also Pink because Pink Diamond and White Pearl were made in the same... it's too hard to explain... but she was pink too, and so she became Pink's Pearl without any hesitation," then Pearl grazed the top of her hand over the water's surface. "Me. I was different. Something happened to White Pearl when she was Pink Pearl, and when that happened the Diamonds gave Pink me, as a gift."

"You don't know what happened to White Pearl? Was she dead like that Peridot we saw a few days ago?" I asked, pointing nowhere.

Pearl's face went a little pale. "I... I don't think so because she would've been dead but-" she crossed her arm over her side and the other resting on the side of her face. "I mean, she did seem something like that. But it wasn't necessarily death. Her gem was there, she was fully functional, she was just... cracked. There was nothing wrong with her gem, there was nothing wrong with it at all, just her body!"

I suddenly remembered the time when Steven told me about how the Diamonds tries to fix the corruptions, how they needed all of them to fix one. "Do you think, like the corruptions here, all the Diamonds get together and give White Pearl another year to live? Fixing her, but of course she must start to get a little... she must start loosing herself again because she's dead?"

Pearl just stared at me with a blank face, as if I had just suddenly disappeared. "I... I have no idea. But Pink wasn't around to fix her. I was going to add that that's probably why White Diamond wants to make Red Diamond but..." she laced her fingers once more. "White Diamond isn't actually a Diamond. She's more like a Goddess, like how here on Earth people believe in God and others."

"But- White Diamond, she's part of the four-"

"Yes, but not everyone knows she's really just a creation of energy," Pearl said, leaning close to me. "At least 15% of Homeworld knew that White 'Diamond' wasn't actually a Diamond, she keeps it a secret. She's really just energy, and given the powerful to make gems with only her mind! I think that's why she chose to have her gem placement on her forehead. Even though there's not really a gem there."

After a long talk about the Diamonds and other theories we had, we decided to talk to Blue and Yellow Pearl. They moved to Watermelon Island after we fixed the warp pad, which took a while, and decided to stay there until their Diamonds came back.

When we warped there we immediately saw them sitting by a fire. There was nothing else, just a decent sized fire on the beach. No shelter, no food, nothing. Just themselves. We approached them, Yellow saw us and walked away mumbling something. Blue just looked at our figures and looked back at the fire again. "She's angry."

"Why?" Pearl asked.

"Because she feels like her Diamond has abandoned her," Blue said, trying to poke the fire, but pulling her arm back. "They've been gone for over a year and they left us? How are they to do a task without us? We seem to do almost everything for them."

I had no answer, Pearl didn't either, we just tried to comfort her by trying to poke the fire too. I wanted to look into her eyes and see what pain she was going through, but like how her Diamond used to cover them, she did too.

"I love my Diamond," Blue suddenly said. "But why did she leave me? She knows I was made for her and need to take orders from her and protect her and make sure things go right for her. But this is how she thanks me? Leaving me with the Crystal Gems?" she faced us, a snarl on her face. "The ones who put my Diamond in agony? The ones that made my Diamond wasted hundreds of tears, just to find out it was all a fucking fake!" she suddenly got up and rubbed the sand off the back of her legs. "She was so different than she used to be. She wanted to die, and when nobody was around she told me. And sometimes she would ask me to freeze her for eternity or shatter her with a blast of energy. But every time I said no, and she would beat me, and most times I died. I would either reform with a crack, her beating me again, or she wasn't there."

"I-I'm sorry Blue-"

"DON'T CALL ME THAT!" Blue snapped, kicking sand at Pearl. "I'M NOT BLUE PEARL I'M WHITE!"

"What?"

Blue looked over at me, I couldn't see most of her face but I could see the agony and pain in her face. She started walking to where Yellow disappeared off to, but I stood up and grabbed her arm. "Bl-White. Please, tell me what you mean."

She wouldn't make eye contact with me, not like she could anyway. "Don't call me Blue... please don't call me Blue."

"Okay, I won't. I'll call you White?"

"NOT THAT EITHER!" she kicked the sand a few more times before returning back to me! "They changed me so many times! I don't even know who I really am anymore!" she moved around too much, and her hair slightly moved away from her eyes, showing shinny black pupils. She took a step back and fixed her hand. "The Diamonds... I have so many personalities."

"I can see that," I said aloud. "I didn't know you were the angry type?"

"I'm not, I mean, I am. But, I mean... it's hard. I'm everything. Every emotion and every feeling. It's like I'm everyone in the world? Like I have multiple gems inside of me, like Alexandrite. But I'm not a fusion!" she said, sitting back down in the sand, her back glowing from the fire. "Blue Diamond- my Diamond wanted me, she didn't want to wait the 6 to 8 years for her Pearl to finished forming, so she just grabbed me and use her powers to make me like her. Every emotion she had I had, I was a clone of her."

I sat down next to her, my back to the fire too. "So, whose Pearl where you in the beginning?"

"I wasn't anyone's!" she said. "I was just a regular Pearl. But, White... oh god White Pearl. She was a mess. She was like me, different..."

I looked over at Pearl, signaling her to come closer, to finally understand which theory was right about her.

"White Pearl and I were just normal Pearls. We formed, and we didn't exactly know where to go, who owned us, who we belonged to? We were just excess Pearls, Pearls that are made for extra reasons, like if a gem needs a Pearl for a little bit or one Pearl dies and we fill their duties until a new one is made. But unlike most Pearls, we weren't... no. Unlike most gems, we weren't made with one personality. One moment, I was happy and laughing with others, the next, I was killing them," she crossed her legs and looked down at her little flat shoes. "I didn't know what was wrong with me. The Diamonds changed me, thinking that making me Yellow and Purple and Red and Orange and... all these different Pearls would chance me and- it never worked. It never worked with White Pearl either. Blue wanted a Pearl, and so she just grabbed me and put me through hell, I felt like I was going to CRACK. But I didn't, I survived and White Pearl just fell to the ground. Blue made me hers, and gave me the power to feel her emotions, unless she's shattered. Ever since then, it's been hell. I didn't see White Pearl until Pink was made, and I saw her... with White Diamond. She wasn't Hazel Pearl anymore, she was White, all the color drained from her. She was dead, or so she acted like it. Gone, everything she was going to and already had accomplished was gone. White Pearl is gone," tears formed in her eyes and she lost it, like Steven did.

I rubbed her back, and waited for her sobs to quiet down. But they didn't, they seemed to only get louder. Suddenly, a bright yellow light hurt my eyes, I pulled my hand away from Blue Pearl and was flung a few feet away, landing on Pearl.

"This is what happens when you feel too many emotions," Yellow Pearl said, electric buzzing around her hand. "I don't care, if Yellow is going to leave me than fine! Nothing matters. It never has mattered. We're just Pearls! NOTHING SPECIAL!" and then, she faced her palm to me, and that was the first time I poofed.
