Mark and I left game stop shortly after and when we got into the car Mark smiled at me and stared at me for about 2 seconds.

"What?",  I asked looking at him smiling.

"I thought we were gonna have a calming day not filled with tears", Mark said. "You made that fan very happy, thank you",.

"No problem Dad", I said. Mark pulled away from the Game stop and I was able to catch a glimpse of the girl looking at me and waving bye and I waved bye back.

"Mark can I ask you something?", I asked looking at him.

"You can ask me anything", Mark said.

"What was your dad like?", I asked. We pulled up to a red light and you could see Mark grasping the car wheel and looked at me in weary eyes. He ran his hand through his hair which I had picked up the meaning he was stressed as he let out a sigh. The light changed to green and Mark began driving again.

"Maddie...My dad was kind, nice, playful but what mattered was that he was my dad", Mark said. "That means no one else had him except me and your Uncle Thomas and he would have loved to meet you and think about what would happen if he met Jack",.

I smiled at that thought and them Mark asked "What was your dad like?",.

My mind went blank and a tear ran down my face but I knew that I had to be strong for Marks sake.

"I guess normal... he would disappear often but my mom told me that he was sitting in a tower in the middle of the forest looking for fires", I said.

"So your dad was Henry from Firewatch", Mark said grinning.

"You could say that", I said smiling.

"So we have something in common", Mark said. "WE don't have dads",.

"Yep", I said looking out the window. We drove all the way to this lake where we met Ian, Matt, and Ryan where we fished for a few hours and it started to get late but Ryan thought it would be a good idea to sit on the grass with blankets and hot chocolate so that's what we did. I shared a blanket with Mark and I sat in Marks lap and MArk and I looked at the stars until we laid down and looked at the stars and mu phone went off and I looked at it. I was from Mike and it said this.

MIKE: Maddie, I know I hide it and we go on these dates but I never said it. Maddie I love you and ever since I saw you open that door and walked out to see me I have loved you. But I have some bad news, I'm moving for a little bit

I gasped and typed back.

MADDIE; where are you moving to?

MIKE: ohio

MADDIE: that's really far but how long will you be gone?

MIKE: 3 days and I lied about moving just so you would text me (don't kill me)

MADDIE: god mike you are gonna give me a heart attack

MIKE: at least I know you care anyway I seriously am gonna be gone for a few days so see ya then

Maddie: Night MIke love you

MIKE; love you too

I shut off my phone and saw that Mark had fallen asleep so I slowly got up and grabbed a extra blanket out of the car and  climbed the pine tree close to where Mark was sleeping. It was not a high tree but just high enough so I could see the whole lake and the reflection of the full moon on the water .I wrapped a blanket around me and closed my eyes as I leaned against 2 tree branches and said goodnight to the earth
