Spoilers Ahead

So in January I watched 5 anime series and I'll review them in order of when I watched them, then give my Winter anime 2019 first impressions.

Date A Live series 10/10
I don't think I've enjoyed a show as much as I did with DAL since... well, forever. This, Code Geass and Blue Exorcist are the only animes to get a 10/10 out from me, and this one is more so for personal enjoyment. DAL has great characters, especially in the waifu department with a variety of girls that fit all sorts of tastes, such as the cheerful Tohka, shy Yoshino, blunt tease Origami, and my personal favourite, Kurumi. It's a fun story that combines romance, action and comedy really well and actually made me really care really really deeply for a character, which usually doesn't happen. And the dub for this series is amazing! Easily one of my favourites.

No Game No Life 8/10
This show combines elements of comedy and strategy really well together, and Sora and Shiro are really fun protagonists. The story is generally well written and I've got no complaints. So, when's season 2?

Prison School 9/10
It's... just a really funny sex comedy that I binged in two days. I loved laughing at it, and the characters are pretty unique and charming. Dub for this is also amazing.

Chivalry of a Failed Knight 8/10
The score is high mainly for the personal enjoyment. These kind of school battle shows are really prominent in anime, and this one's more unique from the rest. It's got a main ship that sails after 4 episodes, really fun fight scenes and a protagonist you can cheer for. I wasn't too keen on the dub at first, but I warmed up to it and I think it's also pretty good. And again... so, when's season 2?

Medaka Box 7/10
This was... an interesting case. I found myself bouncing between not being interested and being sucked in, and the main thing keeping me around was Medaka and how crazy the plot could be at times. Eventually, we finally got to it's main plot after a very shounen final battle, and honestly that really made me enjoy the show more with its mysterious new characters and what not. The ending was terrible though, it really needs a season 3 since it left us on a cliffhanger.

Okay, with that out of way, we can give my impressions on the winter anime season!

Black Clover 6/10
Not much happened, but it's the start of a new arc. Time is necessary because I can tell it'll be hype af

Yu-gi-oh! VRAINS 4/10
The latest episodes were better, but in general season 2 has been a massive let down.

Cardfight!! Vanguard (2018) 5/10
It's... got a better plot then VRAINS. And that's not saying much.

Sword Art Online: Alicization 8/10
Still really solid, and there's been a lot more well done fights which is nice. Generally the series is being pretty good at its job, giving a cool battle series to achieve the goal. Nothing crazy but it does what it says on the tin.

The gambling is far more interesting then the other elements. Without the gambling, it feels like a 6/10.

Date A Live III 10/10
You already know why. Yeah, the art dropped a little in quality but I'm not gonna let that get rid of the fact there's a S3! Can't wait for the rest of it

Gotoubun no Hanayome 8/10
I won't lie, I watched this cuz it was a harem. But, it's a pretty wholesome harem with a more focus on romance and a MC which doesn't have the personality of a doormat. Btw, Miku > Itsuki > Yotsuba > Ichika > Nino is best girl order, don't @ me

Kaguya-sama: Love is War 7/10
It's a really funny anime, so I don't have much to say then just that. The characters, especially Chika, are really charming and entertaining.

Yakusoku no Neverland 7/10
Tbh I'm only watching this anime since UVERworld is doing the OP for it (NANANANANANANANANA) and what I got is a fun psychological thriller. I don't have much to say except it's a bit of a slow burn but it looks nice and the characters break away from usual tropes so that's a plus.

Welp, there's my like... 3 day late January anime review. Wait until like the 5th of March for what I think of anime in February.
