AN: This is really short I'm sorry :/

As Katherine was lifted back out of the freezing water, she hoped for a moment to catch her breath, but of course, that was too much to wish for. The Man hoisted her over his shoulder again, limbs still bound, and began walking. Only this time, Katherine noticed, they were going a different way than they normally did. That was odd.

"Where are we going?" She let her curiosity get the better of her, and thankfully, she wasn't punished for it.

"Our location was compromised. I can't let you leave without getting that money."

Money? That confused Katherine, and then it dawned on her. The Man must be holding her for ransom. The thought was so ridiculous she almost wanted to laugh. Whoever these people were, they thought she was worth enough to be held hostage for money. She said nothing, and instead thought about everything else he'd said. Their location was compromised. By who? Her father? Jack? Her heart sank. If they were leaving, they'd probably never find her now.

Suddenly, a door flung open and there was a force that knocked both Katherine and The Man onto the floor. She let out a cry of pain as she landed flat on her back, where open wounds from the belt had yet to heal.

The rest happened in somewhat of a blur. The police where there, putting The Man in handcuffs, and carefully removing the the ropes from her wrists and ankles. And her father was there, giving her a look of longing as the police told him something about needing him for questioning.

And Jack, her Jack was there, agreeing to take her to the hospital, and lifting her into his arms. A shooting pain went through her body at the physical contact, but she didn't care. She wrapped her arms tightly around him, and buried her face into his neck. She was crying. She vaguely registered the fact that Jack was walking, but all she cared about was the fact that he was here, and she was getting out.

"Jack..." She managed to say through her tears, so softly she wasn't even sure if he heard her, but he made it clear that he did, momentarily pausing to gently kiss her forehead, before resuming their walk to the hospital.

"Hey, Ace." He said, almost as softly as she had spoken. "S'okay. You're safe. It's okay."

And all Katherine could do was cry.

AN: BUT IT'S NOT OVER YET
