AN: This chapter is shorter than I originally planned, but hey, at least you guys should like the ending.

Jack and Pulitzer had been working with the police in Albany all day and they hadn't found any trace of Katherine yet. Everyone kept telling him that it was normal, that they hadn't expected to find them on the first day, but he had no idea how Pulitzer was so calm about this. He came to find Katherine, and he didn't want to rest until he did.

Unfortunately, he didn't have much choice, and he soon found himself sitting in alone in a hotel room, unsure of what to do with himself. He didn't think he could even remember the last time he'd been in a room by himself, but there was no way he was sharing a room with Joseph Pulitzer.

It was too quiet. He sighed and looked around aimlessly before pulling out the sketchpad Pulitzer had given him, flipping to a clean page.

He began to draw, and he quickly realized what he was sketching. It was a wedding. His and Katherine's wedding. Or, what he imagined it would look like, anyway.

He hoped there would still be a wedding.

Within the past few days, one of Mary and Colin's favorite activities to try out (and Katherine's least favorite), had become choking her. Once a day, one of them would come in and just put their hands around her neck until she passed out, and she knew they did things to her while she was unconscious, because she woke up with new bruises on her skin (though it was getting hard for her to tell which wounds were new and which had been there for a while).

She'd thought she would get used the the feeling of her air supply being cut off after a while, but every single time it happened, she felt sure that she was going to die. She craved the unconsciousness.

Jack and Pulitzer had been in Albany for three days with no luck, and Jack was trying not to give up hope. No, he refused to give up.

On the third night, he was about to put up his sketchpad for the night when there was a knock on the door. Confused, he answered the door, and when he saw Joseph Pulitzer, he was even more confused.

"What's going on?"

"They found a lead."

"What do you mean?" Jack knew what he meant, but he had to make sure.

"There are some witnesses who claim to have seen two people, a man and a woman, start to rent a small house in Arbor Hill, about a week ago. Apparently they've been spending an unusually large amount of time in the shed behind the house ever since they've arrived."

"How do they know they aren't just... having fun... in there, y'know?" Jack asked hesitantly. He didn't want to have to bring that up, but it was a valid question. Pulitzer wasn't fazed - or pretended not to.

"The house has a perfectly nice bedroom, they wouldn't be using the shed for that. Besides, a few witnesses have said they heard another female voice yelling from inside the shed."

Jack's heart began to race, and stared at Pulitzer.

"It's her."
