Chapter 18 : The Unexpected...!!!!

"Oye hoye mera tillu badi badi baatien karne Laga hai... haha acha chalo jaldi se ready hoke neeche aa Jaana...teri sapnon ki rani aa rahi hai..." Shwetha teased him and left the room while Neil's face grinned hearing about his lady love's arrival.

Just then his phone rang... He picked it up so fast as if his life depended on the call hoping it to be his Avni's call. But to his disappointment it was DD's call... He made an annoyed face and slided to answer the call.

"Haan bol DD..."

"Sir, voh Commissioner sahab aur unke family aaye hai shadi mei... Aapse milna chahte the..."

"Oh acha... Unhe welcome drink deke bithao mei bas 10 minute mei..." While Neil was saying this to DD on phone he heard sound of the room's door being latched.

He turned behind casually still holding the phone to his ear... And he is stunned at the sight in front of him.. his eyes fixed at one and only one place without blinking the eye lashes he stood bewildered as a slight smile appeared on his faces moments later... But it was DD on the call who had hard time not knowing  why his sir ji had become mum all of a sudden in the call.

"Sir ji... Kya hua ? Meri aawaz aa rhi hai...?  Hellooo ?" DD kept on blabbering only to get a deaf ear by Mr Stunned Neil Khanna as he involuntarily cut the call and threw the phone on the bed.

"Avni..." He gasped as he walked forward still not shifting his gaze from the gorgeous lady in front of him...wide smile adorned his face while his eyes toured his soul mate top to toe, clad in the exotic bridal attire she looked as ethereal as ever.

Avni was panting as if she ran as fast as she could and reached there... she walked forward too... being shy like never before ! Yes, the supercop's tigress wifey was all smiles and blushing as she neared her Man.

Neil was spell bound, clean bowled, stumped, stunned what not...! All these adjectives would still be insufficient to describe his plight on seeing his dearest lady love in the form of his bride.

With a crimson red hand worked duppatta that flowed down from her head, a royal blue cap sleeved blouse and the lehenga of the same colour that had golden work on it with a mud orange colour Chunni draped around her waist and tucked on her shoulder... Elegant jewellery, red and white bangles along with the "Kaleerien" and subtle make up amplified her beauty exponentially. Neil's breathe was taken away for those moments he witnessed his woman stand in front of him as his Bride.

"Avni..." He called her name like he was breathing for her... He stepped close to her and kissed her forehead while cupping her cheeks in his palms.

Avni shut her eyes as his lips tenderly brushed against her forehead... feeling his touch, feeling his love, she could sense that his eyes were moist. How could she sense ? Well, she's his soul... She'd definitely know his emotions.

"Ssshhh Neil... Pagal ho kya ? Aankhon mei aasun kis liye ?" Avni pulled his hands off her cheek and took them in hers.

"Haan pagal toh hun... Meri Avni ko itni Khushi se Apne shadi ke liye taiyar huye dekh kar.. I always wanted to see this satisfaction and happiness on your face Avni... Issiliye yeh... Yeh Khushi ke aasun " Neil smirked playfully at the end wiping his tears earning a soft hit on his shoulder from Avni.

"Hush... Dramebaaz... Tum sudhroge nai na Neil...hehe waise dekh lo meine challenge pura kar diya !" Avni joyously expressed her achievement.

"Ha Haa Maan Liya lady don ki tumne shadi se pehle, Bina kisi Ko apna chehra dikhaye mujhse Milne aa gayi... Thus, fulfilling my wish of seeing my cute little bride the first among all !" Neil chuckled as he pulled Avni's cheeks on either sides with his fingers making Avni blush and turn red yet again.

"Waise... How did you manage to come here without meeting anyone ? Sach mei kisi ne nai dekha kya yaha tumhe ?" Neil questioned his doubts.

"Ah ha... Voh... Yaha aate waqt... Car mei bahana Bana diya ki mujhe washroom use karna hai jald se jald... Hehe issiliye pahunchte hi room mei bhaag ke aayi... Neela maa ko Shak bhi nai hua " Avni rejoiced that her plan worked.

"Oh ho...!" Neil exclaimed as he wrapped his arms around her waist with a mischievous grin only to earn a gentle punch on his chest from Avni.

"Uff Neil... shadi hai humari abhi..shadi pura hone tak No touching no romancing " Avni moved apart from him as she warned playfully.

"Haye ! Aise zalim baatien mat kiya karo janeman..." Zain averred animatedly touching his heart with his palm while Avni chuckled at his antics.

"Hehe Neil tum bhi na...! Acha abhi mujhe jaana hai...mandap pe milte hai..." Avni said and turned to walk away whereas Neil kept glaring at her back...

Avni walked a few steps ahead but paused for a second as she turned back to run towards him and place a quick kiss on his cheek and ran out of the room with the same speed that she stormed in few minutes before !

And here was Neil, stunned again by his wifey's sudden gesture as always... His fingers involuntarily touched his cheek where she had kissed. It won't be wrong to say that he certainly was intoxicated at that moment by her...!

He ruffled his hair and mumbled... "Meri Ajooba !"

"Avni... Haye meri bahu aaj toh devlok ki Apsara lag Rahi hai...itni khubsurat !" Shwetha delightfully exclaimed while she hugged Avni.

"Thank you mummy ji..." Avni replied hugging her back.

"Avni puttar... Aaj na.. shadi ke baad meine zarur Nazar utarni hai tumhari aur Tillu ki... Shadi ke Baad dono bhaag mat Jaana apne room mei ! Haha.." Bebe teased Avni while she blushed and others had a hearty laugh.

"Shwetha ji.. muhurat ka waqt ho raha hai... Dulha Dulhan Ko mantap pe leke ayiye " the pandit instructed Shwetha amidst their talks.

"Ji pandit ji...abhi tillu ko lekar aati hu..." Shwetha replied and turned behind to see her son already descending the stairs magnificently.

"Haye lo mera tillu aa Gaya...!" Shwetha exclaimed as everybody else's eyes turned up towards the stairs to have a look at the handsome groom.

Avni slightly lifted her eyes up to steal a glance of her man... He was already looking at her with his ever charming smile on his face.

Her inner self shuddered for the first time to see her own husband... It was a brand new feeling that she experienced.. she hadn't observed him while she met him few minutes ago in his room...but now she  traced her eyes on him too to toe as h looked like the most handsome man in the world wearing a royal blue bandh gala sherwani that had golden work on it. His pagdi matching her Chunni's colour.. a mud orange cloth finely wrapped his head with a majestic broach in front upon his forehead.

Her gaze did not shift from him until he walked over and stood next to her as he whispered...

"Meri ghurne ki bimari tumhe bhi lag gayi ha wifey..?" He smirked and that brought Mrs Avni Khanna out of her trance.

" Arre wah... Dono colour co ordinated Hun... Awesome outfits Avni..." Ali praised his bestie's choice of dresses.

" Oh yes Ali... Madam ji ne khud banvaya hai.. yeh dekho... Blue yani mere Naam ko represent karta hai aur yeh mud orange colour Avni ke Naam ka... matlab dharti ka colour !" Neil exorbitantly briefed up on the reason for their attire's colour.

"Gosh ! Itna sab kuch sochke banvaya tu ne Avni..." Ali chuckled.

"Haan... Jinse shadi ho rhi hai unhe mujhme basa ne ki ek choti si koshish !" Avni mumbled audible only to the one standing next to her... And yes his face glowed listening to this, by then his phone rang...

"Hello... Ji... Mein abhi bahar aata hu..." Neil said to the person on the call while others looked confused at why and where was he going when his marriage was supposed to take place in few minutes.

"Avni...mujhe jana hai..." Is all that Neil said and moved towards the door way swiftly leaving every other person present there in a state of shock, despair and utter disbelief !

Avni was taken a back at the sudden instance that happened right in front of her eyes within few minutes... It reminded her of the day Neil had left her abandoned on the aisle during their white wedding... Her eyes brimmed with tears fearing the moments that were to occur next.

She couldn't believe that HER Neil, HER husband could yet again commit the same mistake and hurt her... She collapsed on the chair beside her with a blank expression on her face... No emotions were seen... Neela rushed to her daughter's rescue while the entire Khanna family was left aghast at their son's stupid gesture.. Prakash ran behind Neil calling out his name and disappeared along with him...while DD and Ali were left dumb found without any motion !

"Avni...bacha...meri taraf dekho... please bacha..." Neela kept on blabbering holding her dearest daughter in her arms but Avni paid no heed to her as she looked at the door way with the same blank expression.

None of them present in the hall knew Why ? What ? How ? For whom ? Did Neil do this... Everybody had umpteen questions along with a terrible feeling looking at the beautiful bride sitting like a lifeless doll !

Not able to see her granddaughter in such a pathetic state, Bebe neared her and said
"Avni... Tu ja puttar... Yeh ladka tere pyar ka layak nahi hai... Kitni bar... Kitni bar tujhe aise chod ke jayega..tere pyar ka kadar nahi hai usse...! Aur voh..."

But before she could complete her words, Avni erupted like a volcano...
"Bas Bebe... Please...! Neil aisa nahi hai, voh aayega...aap uske khilaf kuch mat boliye...!"

The intensity in her voice, the tone, the confidence stunned the people around her... And just like she thought, he walked in. Her Neil walked in slowly towards her but not alone... He came along few men who looked unfamiliar to everyone except Ali and Nanno.

"Tillu ! Tu aise kaise..." Shwetha barged towards him but only to be stopped by Avni with a sign of lifting her palm up...and here was the ideal mother in law who abided by her.

"Avni, I'm sorry aise jaane ke liye... I didn't want to put you all through this...bas voh...voh...maulvi sahab kuch baat karna chahte  the urgently, toh mujhe jaana pada... I'm extremely sorry..."  Neil held his ears and apologised with utmost sincerity.

Avni paid a deaf ear to him and looked away...she was happy that her trust was not broken by Neil this time but she had to act stern..

"Avni... please suno... Voh mei... Tumhe... Voh... Matlab..." Neil fumbled fearing his sherni wife's reaction to what he wanted to say...

Avni who was looking away from him until then, stared at him with a frown on her face and that was sufficient to kick the hell out of Neil's mind. He squeezed his eyes and screamed at one go...

"Mei tumse shadi se pehle nikah karna chahta tha !"

There was pin drop silence after he said that... Neil slightly opened one of his eye and saw that Avni's face was no more in an angry state... Her face was red and eyes were moist.

He opened the other eye too and walked near her... He held her palms and said "Avni... Jis wajah se Dayawanti Mehta ne Ayesha maa ko kabhi nai apnaya, jis wajah se tumhe ek najayaz hone ka dhabba jhelna pada, jis wajah se tumhe apni Normal family nahi mil payi... Mazhab ! Usko mei aaj Dil se apna kar, tumhe apne asli wajood ke saath apna kar iss napakh samaaj ke burayiyo ko tokar marna chahtha tha..! Ek rishta mazhab ya naam se judi nai jaati hai na Issiliye... Shadi se pehle, puri shiddat se , Dil se, sari reeti riwaz ke saath tumse nikah karna chahta hu... Kya hum nikah padh sakte hai ? Haan Wifey ?"

Uff... Ok... How was it ? Avni fulfilled her challenge ! Did u like the way she did it ? ;)
