You groaned as you looked up at the board. The word "DELAYED" mocked you as it flashed over and over again in red letters. "Great," you muttered to yourself. Of course this would be the week it stormed like crazy. It was the first time you were going to see your family in years and your flight was delayed. And after you rushed to get to the airport on time too. It just wasn't your day.

Sighing deeply, you made your way to the airport cafe. At least you could get a warm cup of coffee or tea and a pastry while you waited. After a few moments, someone cleared their throat. You glanced up to see one of the most beautiful men you'd ever laid eyes on. He had black hair and green eyes that sparkled with mischief. He wore an all black suit and a green scarf that complemented his pale skin nicely. In other words, he was gorgeous.

"Do you mind if I join you? I don't fancy being alone at the moment." You cursed in your head. He had a beautiful accent too. "Uh, sure," you replied and he flashed you a smile. "Thank you. I take it your flight was delayed as well?" You nodded and sighed again. The man sat down in the chair opposite yours and reached his hand over.

"Loki," he introduced himself. You took his hand to shake, but to your surprise, he took your hand and kiss the back of it. You felt your face heat up about ten degrees and you muttered your name. "Y/N. Nice to meet you." He grinned and answered, "Likewise."

"We sat and talked for hours in that cafe. To be honest, it made that horrible day so much better. I had to leave too soon," you told the older gentleman sitting next to you on the plane. You had been gazing sadly out of the window for most of the flight and he had been kind enough to ask you what was wrong. You told him how you'd met Loki and started talking to him. In him you found a charming and debonair man with a mischievous streak that you thought was amusing. He was just about everything you wanted in a man.

"Don't you have a way to contact him, dear?" the old man asked and you shook your head. "No. And I hate myself for not getting his number or at least his email. I doubt I'll ever see him again." The man gave you a smile. "I doubt that. Love has a way of finding its way back to us." You laughed lightly. You really hoped that was true. You could see yourself loving Loki.

"You know, you remind me of my wife and I. We met in similar circumstances, only we met at a train station. I was off to war. I didn't know it at the time, but she was a nurse. We were on separate trains and I didn't think our paths would cross again. Turns out I was wrong. A few weeks later, I was injured and taken to a Army hospital. And wouldn't you know it? There she was. Looking even prettier than the first time I saw her."

You couldn't fight the smile on your face. "We ended up getting married after the war was over and we were married for nearly 45 years before she passed away." He reached over and gave your hand a pat. "So you see, it's possible everything will work out in the end for you and the gentleman." The "fasten your seatbelt" sign flashed on as the plane began its descent toward your destination. You sighed again, only happily this time. Maybe your companion was right. Maybe you would see Loki again.

Once the plane landed, you stood up. The old man turned to you and smiled. "Now, young lady, I expect you to find me and let me how it all works out. Alright?" He handed you a business card. "Why?" He laughed and replied, "Because listening to your story made me feel young again. It brought back a lot of happy memories. Plus, I hate leaving a story unfinished. Don't you?" With that, he walked down the aisle of the plane toward the exit. You followed him, shaking your head fondly.

You made your way inside, your eyes scanning the large crowd for your blond best friend. When you didn't see him, you grew confused. It wasn't like Steve to be late. Ever. You had called him when your slight was delayed and right before you got on the plane so he knew about the time you'd be in. Shrugging, you wandered over to baggage claim to grab your luggage while you waited for Steve to show up.

"There you are," Steve's voice called out just as you saw your suitcase go by. Steve quickly grabbed it with an agility that always amazed you. "Sorry I was late. My roommate is expecting his brother too and his flight came in right after yours." You nodded and smiled. "No big deal. Now get over here and hug me, Stevie." Steve chuckled and hugged you close.

You pulled away and opened your mouth to say something, but stopped when you heard another voice. "I wish I could have least gotten her phone number." Your heart picked up as you recognized the voice. "You are smitten, Brother!" another voice boomed. "Must you be so loud, Thor?" the first voice hissed. As if Thor didn't hear him, he called out again, "There's Steve. My roommate. And that must be his friend. She came to visit as well."

You glanced up at Steve with wide eyes. Then, you slowly turned around. You saw the rather large blond first. He was smiling down at you and opened his arms. "Might I hug you, Y/N? Steven has told me much about you. I feel as if we are old friends." You giggled lightly and nodded. You were instantly enveloped in a tight hug.

"Don't break her, Thor." Thor put you down and you finally saw his brother. It was him. Loki. He was glancing around the airport, not even looking at you. Steve cleared his throat. "You must be Loki." Loki turned his gaze toward Steve, but he saw you instead. His eyes widened in surprise at first, but then he grinned.

"Y/N!" You laughed. "Loki! I thought I'd never see you again!" Loki's smile grew bigger and, without even realizing what you were doing, you launched yourself at him and hugged him. Even though he was surprised and not at all used to this kind of affection, he wrapped his arms around you. You fit perfectly as if you were meant to be there. Loki didn't believe in soulmates or anything like that, but if he did, he'd swear you were his.

"Did I miss something?" Steve asked, a perplexed look on his face, "You two know each other?" Thor crossed his arms over his barrel chest and smiled. "This must be the young woman Loki met at the airport last night. Apparently they hit it off quite well." Steve scoffed playfully. "Clearly. I've never seen Y/N act like that."

"That's young love for you, young man." You and Loki pulled apart as Steve and Thor turned toward the voice. You grinned at your former traveling companion. "Seems like your story has a happy ending after all." You and Loki laughed. "Seems like it does." The old man gave you a wink and walked away.

Youturned back to Loki and realized what you were doing. "I'm sorry,"you whispered and tried to take a step back. Loki wrapped his arms tighteraround you. "Don't go please. If I let you go now, I'm afraid you willdisappear." You smiled sheepishly and hugged him again. "I won'tdisappear, but I'm sure Steve and Thor want to get home...and I'm starving. Iwas too upset to eat on the plane."

Steve chuckled. "That's Y/N. Thinking with her stomach. Come on. Let's go grab something to eat and you two lovebirds can tell me the whole story." Loki let you go, but you grabbed his hand and followed Steve and Thor from the crowded airport. Needless to say, you were extremely grateful your flight had been delayed.
