Erin snapped at something in the distance in his broad wolf's form with glowing yellow eyes and big, white, snarling teeth. He seemed cornered by something or an individual, and there was no escape.

A saddened howl in the distance showed defeat. Erin's surroundings caved him in; five thirsty vampires, hungry for wolves' blood, one of them being me, pasty, with snarling fangs protruding from my upper gums, closed in on my best friend. My eyes were the color of the blood coating my lips. We slowly moved closer, circling Erin as our prey.

"Adam. Adam!" Jessica screamed my name, her voice echoing through the dense forest. More bloody thirsty vampires had her, too. Her designer dress was messy; her hair was matted and tangled as she wrestled with two vampires.

"Adam! Adam! ADAM!" she screamed again. Erin searched the dense forest for an escape and a way to save Adam and Jessica.

His eyes narrowed on a gap between the vampire pack, and he sprinted past them, picking up the pace at inhuman speed. He was not fast enough for me, who doubled by his side, fangs bulging from my gums and eyes like a crimson sunset.

Erin morphed back to human to stop me, staring hesitantly into my eyes, begging for mercy. He panted hard, looking for a way out. There was a sudden snap in the distance, followed by an agonizing yelp. Was the king dead? Possibly?

Erin fell to his knees in defeat, and I swooped forward, sinking my fang deep into his neck. From behind a distinctive voice, Blake pleaded for me to stop.

"Adam! ADAM!" Blake chimed in. My head tilted as though I could understand her, but my fangs clamped down onto Erin's neck as he whimpered in pain.

Blake chanted, "Vampire Bloodthirst melius est Mori, ne amandanda sint inferno: sunt enim flammis aeternitatis." (English: Vampire Bloodthirst, it is better to die, not be committed to hell: for they are the flames of eternity.)

A powerful ripple propelled from Blake as her fingers dragged forward. A miracle pulse thumped in my chest. My heart nearly leaped from my chest. A sensation of warmth brushed my cheeks, and a bright light blinded me, and suddenly, there was still darkness.

I woke up in a puddle of sweat. Two sets of glowing yellow eyes stared back at me, and I flipped back against the mattress, glancing at my beeping alarm clock. Jessica stood on the other side, trying to wake the sleeping monster in front of her with her annoying cousin and my best friend, Erin.

"Good morning," Erin greeted me with a grin. "Have a nice sleep, princess?" I rubbed my groggy eyes, and I pushed out of bed.

"Funny. You're a prince." I rolled my eyes as he chuckled. "Did my dad let you in?" I asked him, yawning and stretching; my fangs protruded from my gums. Then, a Converse shoe hit me square in the face.

"Yeah. How else would I get in here?" My eyes maneuvered to the window and back to Erin.

"You use a window once, and it becomes the butt of your best friend's joke." He scoffed. "Every damn time."

"Let me guess. Jessica's a wolf, too?" I pointed to Jessica standing there.

"Wow, you're a rocket scientist," she slammed back at me, shooting me with a death glare.

Erin rolled his eyes, briefly watching her with a raised eyebrow and crossed arms. "Down, girl," He mocked her. She didn't seem amused.

I laid back on my bed, grabbing a stress ball off my bedside cabinet and tossing it up and down against the ceiling. Erin sat at the desk, his eyes never leaving the ball.

"So, I'm a vampire," I stated. Erin nodded, his eyes still glued to the toy in my hand, watching it bounce off my baby blue walls. "And you're a werewolf?"

"Yeah," Erin said.

"How does all of this shit work?" I tossed the ball at Erin, and Erin caught the ball in his fist with no effort.

"Well, they bit you. Vampire bites are an infection, and to complete the transition, the vampire God needs to, well—" Erin held the ball up to eye level and squeezed tight until it deflated. "Essentially, murder you."

I chuckled uncomfortably. "You're joking."

"No," he said, not what I expected him to say. Jessica rolled her eyes and huffed, her arms crossing her chest as she glared at him. "I wish I was joking."

"Have you noticed anyone or anything strange stalking you since a vampire bit you?"

"You."

Erin chuckled this time before his expression turned blank. "We're serious, Adam. Vampires have supernatural Chimeras that follow Vampire fledglings, and when they feel ready to seize you, they won't hesitate." Then, he threw the ball back at me, and I hastily snatched it from the air. Erin's eyes widened in amusement. "That's what you should have been doing in Rugby try-outs. You could have easily kicked Jeremy's ass. Maybe my dad wouldn't have had to bribe Ms. Drake—"

"We made the team?" I asked.

"He thinks he's some God, " Jessica muttered with an eye roll.

"She's not wrong," He said, pointing his finger at Jessica.

"What?" I asked, amused.

Erin sighed. "Incubi. They think they're so entitled."

"Who? Jeremy?" I asked again.

"Yeah. Probably the only reason your sister wants to fuck the son of a bit—"

"Shut up," I growled, not wanting my sister to hear us. She's here, you know."

"Sorry, dude, but it's true," Erin shrugged. Speak of the devil. There was a knock on my bedroom door, and the door screamed open. Hannah stood in the doorway, her arms crossed over her chest, annoyed.

"Your Dad is here, Erin," she said. Hannah huffed, glaring at Erin, and slammed the door. Erin grinned widely, staring at me.

"I will bite you," I growled.

"You have a lot to learn, my young fledgling," Erin said.

"What the fuck?" I said. Jessica groaned, and Erin scoffed at her.

"What he means is. We're immune, fang-boy." She snapped, glaring at her cousin.

"Fang-boy?" I chuckled, with a hint of a grin forming on my lips. That was hot. Wow!

There was a brief silence, and I again chucked the stress ball at Erin. "Get ready, Adam. We have to teach you a lot of shit," Erin said. Then Jessica wandered out of the room, followed by Erin, leaving me alone. I was barely a vampire, and it already sucked.
