Annika reached home at noon.She had informed about her surprise for shivaay to pinky ,so pinky also decided to accompany annika .But since her mother's health condition demanded her ,she had gone to visit her mother.So now annika was all alone in OM.

Never ever since her childhood ,she had to face a situation like this on her birthday. Literally the whole day would turn out to be the best day of her life even though the next year would surely be even more better ,not having her idiot along was itself the biggest dissipation of the day.

She haven't switched on her mobile still.But somewhere her heart wanted to check if atleast he had texted her.With tons of hope she flashed on the screen and as soon as she pushed the mobile data ,there were too many notifications from WhatsApp specifying to be received at 12.17 am ,the next one at 12.18 am and it continued with 56 voice messages and 63 calls from him.Soon she grabbed a pinch of relief .

But she immediately went offline,indeed she was hurt.

Seeing the double tick but still not receiving any response from her didn't go easy with him.He knew she would be angry ,and it would be sorted out only if he meets her . Unfortunately,his damn work wasn't leaving his back .But shivaay couldn't hold back more ,so...

Early Night

On the other side ,annika received a call from her office mentioning that there was some emergency work to be completed. Though she was in no mood to work for today,she couldn't deny.

She was baffled to find her office to be dark with power off.And suddenly out of nowhere ,the power came on along with the howling sound of birthday wishes from her colleagues.And parchments of colours strands falling through the centre of the roof on her from the balloons tied up tracely throughout the place .

A- ohh !!! Thank you so much guys ,I wasn't expecting this .Thank you !!

Everyone wished her and ,there was a small celebration .While talking with her batch mate she came to know that it was Madhav ,her photography companion who had grouped up the people and prepared all this for her.

A - maddy ,the surprise was too good man ,thank you.

Ma- always ,and yes I've a present for you.

A- what's this?

Ma- you have to open to know what's inside.

A- oookaaay..

The box consisted of a cute candid pic of annika taken when she was totally engrossed with her notes.

A- wow ,It's amazing maddy.

Ma- I know...Hey annika ,would you join me for dinner today?

Annika was actually reluctant to go .Whatever it is ,she was still yearning for her shivaay's wish , so she wasn't really interested in hanging out with her friend but at the same time she couldn't deny him even, as he had actually brought something to the day which she thought would end up to be the worst.So she agreed .

(Madhav is a good friend of annika,he also knew about shivika being the bff's forever.He has some feelings for annika,so obviously he doesn't like shivaay)

Her mobile was constantly ringing flashing "THE IDIOT " on it and she didn't bother to pick it up.

Ma- Is it your bff ,shivaay?

A- yeah .

Ma- I remember you taking leave and spending the whole day with your friend on your birthday. Why?what happened this time?

Again there was a call from him ,being fed up in a trance she attended the call instead of rejecting mistakenly and kept the phone aside.

Shivaay- hell...hello ,hello annika ?

A- uhh, I'm sorry what were you asking maddy?

S- maddy?

Ma- I was asking that ....(the same question)

Shivaay was quietly listening .

A- he is stuck up with some important work .

Ma- now I get the reason behind you being upset.

A- no ,it's nothing like that.

Ma- common annika,I know you very well.Why should you spoil your day for the sake of the man who's least interested in you.

Shivaay was heated up with anger now.

A- what do you mean ?

Ma- I'm saying ,that your friend shivaay is a selfish man .He is (interrupted)

A- You don't seem to be my friend maddy,why do I feel like I'm talking to a middle aged big fat aunty who would be damn good in gossiping?(she asked with a stern face)

Shivaay who was listening to this chuckeld saying "he deserves this".

Ma- Look annika, I was just ...

A- I'm sorry maddy,I think it's time to leave.Before leaving , I would want you to plaster one thing on your mind .Only I have the rights to tell anything about him. This time he couldn't be with me here ,I know there must be a reason behind it .But I didn't give you any permission to speak ill about him ,and don't you dare say anything against him next time .I'm really sorry if I was rude ,but I couldn't stop myself .By the way thank you for today,I really felt good.... Shivaay clicked the red button with a quite well satisfied smile on his face.Her immediate reaction to madhav made him feel special.

She left the place .

Ma- it's ok, I was expecting this anyway.(he thought)

She halted a cab ,but the driver specified that he had a customer already but agreed when he heard "it's fine ,she can get in too" from the person behind.

A- Thank you sir ,so kind of you .

She closed the door and turned to look at him ,but the next second her face stiffened when she saw shivaay beside her , smiling at her brightly .Without speaking anything she stuck her eyes through the window.

(They both where wearing their birthday dress , bought by the other which was colour coordinated with white.)

He gently poked his index finger into her forearm trying to get her attention and it actually worked out ,she looked at him.

S- Happy birthday paanika .

He said making continuous funny weird faces to pacify her .But she was too hard to convince today.Her eyes were actually fixed on him,if it was anyone else they would have bursted out in laughter but no ,it was annika here. It is indeed that even shivaay wasn't a very smooth guy.He didn't give up ,literally no .He was continuing his act making more and more stupid faces in each further second.

You know what friends are like , too insane to handle.

Her lips were lengthened a centimetre wide.

S - hey you're smiling,you're smiling ....you're

A- shut up you dumb idiot, stupid moron, have you any sense ? You are an idiotic cat you know .

Her scoldings continued while her hands were bombarding on his chest .He didn't actually try to defend himself as he knew he deserved this from his paanika .This was totally witnessed by the person seated in front ,the driver was wondering ,how could two people who just now met behave like this?

After a constant session of beating ,she stopped and looked at him angrily .

S - you haven't wished me yet(catching his breath )

A- (pinching his thigh harshly) Haaaaaapppppyyyyyy Biiiiirrrrthhhhdaaaay Idiot.

She didn't show any mercy on him.

S- ahhhh annika , ahhhh

A - what did I tell you haan ,I told you that you should be the first to wish me right?(she still strengthened her hold)

S - ahhhh, nahi vo.... ahhh annika .

At one time ,he realized she has released him .And when he looked at her ,he found her to be sitting quietly with tear brimmed orbs.He felt worse seeing the sight in front of him and he felt even more terrible realizing that he is the reason for it.

Feeling his silence she looked at him and he was already looking at her.

S - I'm sorry .(he muttered in a low voice )

A- it's ok .(she said rubbing the place where she had been pinching him all this time )

S- thank God!! (He pulled her into a hug )I got to tell you a lot of things .

A- not now plss.(busy contributing the hug)

S- You didn't see my gift I guess ?

A- I don't remember any gift.

S- arey nahi paanika ,I kept it in your handbag before leaving .(still hugging)

Instantly she pulled out from the hug and looked at him with a 400 volts brightened face .

S- what?

A- even I kept a gift in your bag ,I'm sure you would have missed it .(pushing his head slightly )

S - is it ,wait .

Both of them traced their respective bags and found a parcel wrapped with coloured sheets labelled with"To my paanika " on her's and "To my Idiot "on his's .

A- common open it soon.

S - no ,lady's first .

A- stop , let's do it simultaneously ok .

S- super .

Both opened their presents at the same time and the only word which escaped from their mouth was.

S/A- seriously paanika /Seriously shivaay???

A- what ?You are "the craziest fan of Spiderman series right"(justifying her act)

S- annika,I was only this much that time(indicating a minute thing with his fingers )

A- and what do you want to say about this (showing her's)

S- atleast I brought you something useful for your written work Ms.Reporter.

A- even you can wear this at home(pointing the little suit) ,what did you expect from me haan wrist watch? Or wallets?Annika is totally out of the box you know.(smirking)

S- ok fine, let me conclude that I am insane here.( he said sarcastically)

A- why?

S- because ,you want me to wear this when it's just in the size of the gloves .

A- little small isn't it.

S - yeah .(he nodded in disbelief)

A- by the way , I love the smell yaar (inhaling one of the eracer)

S - I'm glad you liked my gift .

A- and what about you ?(suspecting)

S- yeah ,it's great .I'm loving it(saying this he tried to inserted the head piece which got fixed up on his head like a cap)

And the next second silence prevailed for a moment after which  suddenly both bursted out in laughter .

A- hey ,how did you know that I was at the restaurant?

S- with this.

He showed madhav's latest post on intsa , a pic with annika and the caption stating "With the birthday baby❤" (location was mentioned in that post)

S- He and his baby,you know what ?I don't kind of ...like him.(rolling his eyes)

Annika just chuckled for that.

A- tho ,where are we going?

S- hamara hospital.

She nodded excitedly.

And finally their day which felt very hollow for both seemed to be completed perfectly .It was indeed that ,there was some sort of displeasure for annika ,but at the end he is her friend right...so that's what friends are like ,no  expectations...no big big fights .Annika was hurt...she was angry ....but all her anger just vanished after giving him a good punishment of silence the whole day and not to forget a deadly collection of punches. This is their life ,this is their practice . Their relationship had always been like this, whatever happens they just end up together finally .But little did they know that there is something still more to their relationship.How they are going to REALIZE it?
