Byakuya Togami X [Shy] Reader

Y/N's POV

My friends were all crowded around a single poster which was splattered various shades of neon orange and purple. I've seen that many times while I was walking around the school, and I already knew what it was.

'A masquerade dance...'

Halloween was just around the corner, and obviously, my school decided to hold one of these annual 'proms'.

"Hey, Y/N!" Maizono chirped happily, linking her arms with mine as we walked to our next class. "Who are you going to the dance with?"

"Who said I was going?" I asked, my eyes wandering to look around the hall. "I'm probably just going to stay home like always."

Suddenly, Sayaka let go of my arm, placing both of her hands on her hips sassily. "You, miss, are going to that dance no matter what! Don't make me kidnap you like last time!"

I let out a soft laugh, remembering the time Maizono climbed through my window and tried to pull me out of my blanket. Clearly, that didn't work since I was wrapped up like a burrito in those sheets.

"Okay, fine. I'll save you some arm strength." I smiled. "Anyways, who are you going with, Mai?"

"Huh?" She once again linked our arms. "I thought you'd know. Leon asked me just this morning."

"Right..." I muttered, slowing my pace. "Uh, you can go to class. I still have to get some stuff from my locker..."

"Mm... Okay!" With that, she caught up with Asahina and Sakura.

I sighed heavily, slowly heading back towards my locker which was next to Leon's.

'Locker 11036... where are you?'

My phone then dinged, signaling I got a notification or a text. Cautiously, I pulled it out of my pocket, making sure that it wasn't visible to the cameras.

'Oh, it's just a message for my game. 707 can wait...'

Before I could look up to put my phone away, I collided face-first into the row of lockers.

"Oof!" I huffed out, falling on my butt. My phone flew across the hall and landed in front of someone's feet.

While I was holding my nose, my eyes traveled up their legs and body to meet a face. Instantly, my face flushed, realizing that it was a boy who I bumped into.

'Shit... it's Togami, the richest kid in the school...'

I inhaled deeply, holding my breath for what was about to come. The two of us had a bit of history together since middle school, but one day, he just flat out ignored me.

I never found out what was wrong. He was my childhood crush, but I eventually got over it... right?

What a great situation: two childhood friends, one knowing the other while the other is seemingly a total stranger... alone.

"I-I'm sorry..." I apologized, my eyes looking back down at my phone next to his feet to avoid his sharp gaze.

He leaned forwards, his slender fingers gripping my phone loosely. "I am guessing that this device is yours then?"

"Y-Y-Yeah..." I mumbled shyly, still rubbing my nose to help with the pain,

His shoes clicked against the tile, echoing down the empty hall. He outstretched his hand so that it was in front of me. I stared at it blankly, still in shock.

"Are you going to take it or not?"

Snapped out of my thoughts, I nodded awkwardly and hesitantly took ahold of his hand. It was rough with callouses, yet it maintained a warm feeling. He set my phone in my hands nonchalantly.

"Th-Thank you..." I murmured, trying to avoid looking straight at his eyes.

He nodded coldly, immediately letting go of me as soon as I stood on my own two feet. "If you excuse me, I must get going to class. You should, too. You don't want to be tardy, do you?"

Before I could reply, he turned around and walked in the direction that I was heading opposite to. I clutched my phone tightly before yelling out.

"D-Do you remember me?" I tilted my head downwards, realizing what I had just done.

'Of course he wouldn't remember you, idiot...'

Just as I was about to dismiss my own question, he turned around, a slight grin on his face.

My heart raced. Since when was the last time I saw him smile? Actually, since when did Byakuya Togami ever smile? A rare sight indeed.

"Y/N L/N, right? I've known you since middle school. Well, I'd love to stay and chat, but I must get going. Excuse me."

With that, he turned straight around and walked away.

My hand rose to touch my cheek, and I noticed that it was burning like it was back in middle school. I let out a shaky sigh, realizing that I hadn't fully gotten over him.

'Why do you have to be so cold now..?'

Quietly, I gathered my notebooks and textbook from my locker. However, as I was about to close it, I noticed a parchment of paper stuck in between the slits. Curiously, I opened and read it.

'Prom?'

Instantly, my face flushed. There was no signature on the bottom to signify who had asked. It was just that single word.

'Maybe this is just a troll...' I thought as I slammed my locker shut.

-Masquerade Dance Night-

Y/N's POV

Adorned in a black knee-length dress, I gently placed the mask over my face. It covered two thirds of my face, making me nearly unrecognizable. The only thing visible were my light red lips.

Why I agreed to go to this dance? I don't know.

Sayaka was always great at persuading people which is why she's taking business as an elective. For heaven's sake, I didn't even have a partner. My friend has a date, so I'll probably just hang around the food table like a loser.

'Fine by me.'

Grabbing my clutch, I headed out the door. My dad sat in the driver's seat, his forehead lined with a bit of sweat.

"Are you sure you're going to be okay with this, honey?" He asked as I climbed into the passenger seat.

"Yeah." I said curtly, slamming the door shut and buckling my seat belt. "It's not like I have a date."

Confused, my dad glanced over at me, starting the car. "Then why are you going?"

"Food."

He nodded in understanding, letting out a hearty laugh. "Ah, you are definitely my daughter."

I smiled back, but this one was filled with self-pity. Just saying that really brought down my mood.

"Well, if you do find a nice, handsome man, bring him home and show me. I need a new shooting target!"

"Dad!" I laughed, finally feeling my muscles relax from the pre-anxiety. "Haha, but thanks."

He nodded before applying pressure on the pedal. As the scenery passed by, I couldn't help but stare outside. The sky was darkening into a navy blue shade, but there was still a tint of magenta and orange. The trees and leaves created a beautiful silhouette against the sky. If only I had brought my photography camera.

Before I knew it, the car came to a complete stop, and the only thing in my line of vision was the school building. Letting out a sigh, I smiled at my dad one last time before opening the door.

"Be out by eleven, okay?"

I nodded, closing the door and heading inside.

There were black and gold balloons strewn across the floor, and the room was illuminated with a single chandelier. Somehow, they managed to hang it on the ceiling. It really gave the vibe that this was a gala instead of an amateur prom night.

Well, my hair was sprayed a different color to avoid being recognized. All the other girls had to do it too, but the ones with dates had told their guy what they looked like to avoid being taken by someone else.

If only I could relate...

My eyes then rested on the table near the wall. A large punch bowl was placed in the center, and all assortments of entrées and snacks were surrounding it. My mouth practically watered.

"Thank the Lord that this isn't a dream..." I mumbled happily, grabbing a plate and picking up the tongs. Food never disappoints.

As soon as I finished, I got a cup of punch.

There were some tables pushed off to the side, but no one was really there. Most of them were dancing the night away. Sighing for the second time tonight, I slid in the chair and started to pick at my food.

Just watching everyone else having a fun time while I sat by myself really made me feel that my old friend had once returned: loneliness.

I downed the punch, though it tasted a bit weird. It was as if someone had dipped their feet in the liquid. It burned its way down my throat.

Before I could throw my plate and cup away, a hand was placed gently on my shoulder, keeping me in my place.

My eyes looked up to see red ones staring back at me.

'Who was this?'

"Hey." He said stiffly, sitting down in front of me. "So what are you doing here all alone?"

"Ah... I'm not alone..." I lied while gritting my teeth. "M-My date's using the bathroom right now."

"Oh..." He mumbled, seeming a bit disappointed. "You really look beautiful tonight though. Even though I don't know who you are, I regret not talking to you at school."

Shyly, I nodded, feeling my face light up. All of the words that was about to pour out of my mouth disappeared. They all got caught up in my throat.

"Well, I guess I'll be leaving." He stood straight up and started walking away. "If you're up to it, I'll be patrolling the hallway for a bit."

'Ah, Kiyotaka Ishimaru...'

I finally stood up and threw away my plate and cup. There was really nothing else to do here. My head started to feel a bit fuzzy too.

Before I could call my dad to pick me up early, the DJ stopped the music and picked up the microphone.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" He said cheerfully, one hand resting on his headphones. "We're about to prepare for the slow dancing. Ladies, please go onto the right side of the gym, and gents, please go onto the left side."

I watched as the two groups started to separate onto their respective sides. Some didn't participate and went to get food.

'Might as well...'

Dragging my feet, I made my way to the right side to join with the girls. Some were squealing, claiming that they'd find their true soulmates. Others were boasting about how their dates would find them without a moment's hesitation.

I, on the other hand, had no hope for this. It was pointless anyways. No one really knew me since I was quiet most of the time. Well, in middle school, I was a loud child, never being able to shut up.

I wonder what happened to that?

"Gentlemen!" The DJ spoke once again. "Pick a lady, any lady!"

The girls started to smile widely, some still squealing like pigs. I just stood there, numb to everything. I watched as Kiyotaka headed over to a girl with her hair temporarily dyed orange.

Everyone soon found a match until four girls, including myself, and a single male were left. He glanced over at all of us. The three other girls twitched with anxiety, trying their best to flaunt their good points.

"H-Hey, mystery man~" One cooed. "I'll show you a g-good time, so please pick me!"

Slowly, I cringed inside. Having enough, I expressed my dismissal. "This is pointless. I'll be taking my leave."

Just as I turned around, a hand clasped around my wrist before a low voice whispered. "You."

I turned around to be met with his eyes staring deeply at mine. Their steely cobalt hue seemed to capture me in a trance. However, these eyes... they're vaguely familiar.

The other girls whined but eventually gave up.

Mustering up the last of my courage, I whispered. "Why..?"

He smiled softly, talking my hand and guiding me onto the main dance floor. Slow, classical music was playing, and I felt my palms growing sweaty. Something about this man... made me feel at ease. Nostalgic, even...

However, my mind couldn't think straight as I gazed up at him, my cheeks reddening.

"Who... are you?" I asked, my eyes growing heavier as I leaned on him as support, unable to maintain my balance.

"Y/N... it's you, isn't it?"

My attention suddenly snapped from my woozy head to this person. "How do you..?"

"I remember you from way back. I'm guessing you'll remember me too?"

"H-Huh..?" I muttered, feeling my knees give out.

He caught me before I could fall, letting me rest my head against his shoulder. "My, my... You seem to forget quite often. I'm the one who left that note in your locker."

"What note..?" A light bulb seemed to clear the haze in my mind. "Wait... that note..?"

He let out a light chuckle, caressing my hair and whispering in my ear. "I hope you realize my feelings for you ever since middle school."

Confused, I used that last ounces of my strength to push away and stare at his masked face. "Wh-Who are you..?"

Smiling, his eyes bore into mine, a soft look crossing them.

"Ladies, you may now take off the gentlemen's mask!"

Hesitantly, my hands reached for his face. My fingers felt his skin before curling my fingers behind the mask. My eyes watered once I saw who was underneath.

I recognized everything from those once cold and mean eyes to his seemingly perfect facial structure.

"Byakuya..." I said, embarrassment lingering on my face. "You... had feelings for me..?"

"Have..." He corrected, holding my cheek while using his thumb to wipe away my tears.

Before I completely passed out, I felt his warm lips on mine, finally able to express his feelings. My weak hands wrapped around his neck loosely as I embraced him. Just as he finished the sweet kiss, my body fell limp.

Byakuya's POV

My eyes widened once I saw Y/N limp. My fear washed away once I realized that she was still breathing. Other people around also seemed uncoordinated or just passed out.

Despite the mild severity of the situation, I dialed 911 and called for an ambulance.

As I was about to pick up Y/N, I saw Aoi Asahina laughing her butt off with a small, empty bottle of strong vodka in her hand.

'She spiked the punch.'

-A Few Hours Later-

Y/N's POV

As soon as I opened my eyes, a pounding headache awaited me. I could feel vomit rising and I quickly slapped my hand over my mouth, my body shooting up to find a trashcan. Luckily, there was a bucket near my bed.

After puking my guts out, I noticed someone sitting beside me. Looking around the room, I absorbed the setting: the hospital.

I must've passed out last night...

Next to me with his eyes still closed was Togami. He seemed calm, and his glasses were still on. Gently, I took them off and placed them on the bridge of my nose. Everything looked blurry.

I laughed to myself, waking up the poor boy.

He stretched a bit before looking at me. "Oh, Y/N. You're awake."

Finally, he noticed the glasses and felt his face.

"Give them back."

"Why?" I asked, sticking out my tongue. "What can you possible do to make me give them back?"

A smirk formed on his face. Roughly, he grabbed my face and pulled it close to his. A blush crept up and flooded my face in a nice shade of crimson.

Unconsciously, I found myself leaning in, but his hold on my face stopped me.

He shook his head, that damn smirk still on his face. "Not until you give me back my glasses. Then I can see where to kiss you."

"You can see my lips!" I pouted, grabbing onto his wrist to let go of my face.

"Oh, let me test out that theory then."

Completely missing his initial target, his lips attacked my neck. He wasn't giving any mercy either as he went quite roughly.

"Ah!" I shrieked unintentionally. "Y-You know that's not it..!" My fingers slid to his shoulders, and I dug my nails in the back of his shirt.

He chuckled before letting go. He held out his hand expectantly.

Sighing, I surrendered his glasses. He placed them back in front of his eyes and smiled.

"So... what happened last night..?" I asked.

"Asahina spiked the punch with alcohol." He rolled his eyes, leaning back and crossing his arms.

"Oh..." I muttered, feeling embarrassed that a single cup of punch could make me pass out that quick.

"Anyways," Byakuya got up. "I'm going to inform the doctor that you're awake and do some last check-ups on you."

"A-Alright..."

"Then, when you're free..." He smiled once again, heading over to me and kissing the back of my hand. "We'll go on a proper date, Miss Girlfriend."

Without asking where, he left the room. I stared at the back of my hand where he had just kissed. Shyly, I smiled to myself.

"I guess prom really does make miracles happen..." I sighed happily.

Cliche cliche :)

I tried to improvise with the plot given to me. Hopefully you all liked it! Although I admit, this wasn't as long as my last few chapters haha. Plus, it feels really rushed :/ Anyways, the next request is another Nagito story, so be prepared! Have a great day/night!
