The year is 2552. Earth still exists but it's overpopulation has forced former residents to colonize on other worlds. Earth's United Government the United Nations Space Command(UNSC) had put there full effort into colonization. These was possible as fast travel through the stars is now a reality. An outstanding accomplishment humanity achieved was a planet called Reach, a colony that serves as an interstellar navel base that makes colonies and warships for the military branch of the UNSC. Reach became the main hub of all of the UNSC's scientific and military activity.

But then it all changed

Thirty two years ago, all contact with the outer colony known as Harvest was lost. A UNSC battle group was dispatched to investigate and was almost completely destroyed. All that remain was one badly damaged battleship that was able to return to Reach and came with a warning. The warning came in the a way of a seemingly unstoppable alien warship that destroyed their forces with ease. It was then the alien threat was identified and came to he known as the Covenant.

The Covenant was a united organization of alien races that came together under a fanatical religious devotion. The Covenant's leaders know as the Prophets declared humanity an affront to their Gods and that is when the Human- Covenant War began. Dozens of colonies had fallen one by one by the power of the Covenant and humanity suffered insurmountable losses and crushing defeats. Soon, Humanity was on the brink of extinction.

And in such dozen of projects were created to come up with the magic bullet to win. One was the Spartan II program created by Doctor Catherine Elizabeth Halsey and leader of the program. Halsey abducted children to create the Spartans as their mission was to create perfect elite super-soliders of war. And Halsey believed that children was more susceptible to indoctrination, which will allow them to become great Spartans.

But that wasn't the only project that was created.

Another project was created and is known as Project Freelancer. And there project was research on aggressive AI and it was lead by Doctor Leonard Church. But in recent activity Project Freelancer was then being questioned on several suspicious activity within the project and questioned the Director himself. And in so the UNSC and the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) has requested a Spartan to go undercover in the Project to investigate the suspicions. And what started out as an investigation turned into an unbelievable journey.

Hargrove: With the Director of Project Freelancer failing to answer our questions we will need another solution to solve this problem. What do you all suggest?

UNSC Sub Member 1: We should sent someone in undercover to investigate the project.

UNSC Sub Member 2: I agree. And it needs to be someone very good and we can fully trust.

The rest of the committee agrees and Hargrove makes a call on the intercom

Hargrove:(intercom) Admiral Hood please report to the Oversight Sub Committee at once.

One Hour later

A man dressed an UNSC's Admiral uniform with lots of medals and ribbons on his uniform sits down with committee

Lord Hood: Chairman Hargrove what do you need?

Hargrove: Thank you for coming Admiral. The reason we called you here is because we need your help.

Lord Hood: And what would that be Chairman?

Hargrove: As you are aware in the wake the Human-Covenant war several projects were created with the Spartan II program being one of them. Another is Project Freelancer who are doing research on aggressive AI and as such we gave them one AI to do research on.

Lord Hood: I see. And this was going to help Humanity win the war?

Hargrove: Yes but there is now a problem.

Lord Hood: What is that?

Hargrove: There has been reports of suspicious activity and rumors going around that Project Freelancer is doing something bad behind their doors. And we have tried to speak with the Director of Project Freelancer but he has been unresponsive as if late. And with him refusing to answer us we have decided that we need someone to be sent into Project Freelancer into investigate this suspicious activity.

Lord Hood: I understand. And you want me to select someone to do it?

Hargrove: Yes but not just anyone. We want a Spartan to be sent in.

Lord Hood: Then I know just the Spartan you need

Hargrove: Who is he?

Lord Hood: Lieutenant Commander Jackson Hunt. Callsign Slayer. An outstanding and incredible Spartan that has defended Humanity with courage honor and distinction. Highly skilled and a true legend in the UNSC and among our troops. Someone who I am friends with and is the one I can count on to get the job done. And very trustworthy and dependable.

Hargrove: He's perfect. Summon him to your office and brief him immediately. And I'll prepare some equipment and armor for this operation.

Lord Hood: Yes sir
