'Okay Mum! I will.'

His mother pulled him into a hug. 'I'm sorry, I can't help missing my son when he goes off on adventures all over the world.'

A loud speaker interupted Ash, who was about to say something. 'Dragonite Airlines, flight 446 to Kanto, please start boarding.'

'That's my flight.' Delia said. 'Goodbye Ash! I love you so much.' She patted Pikachu. 'Goodbye Pikachu, look after my boy for me.'

'Bye Mum, have a safe trip.'

She walked to the terminal, suitcases in hand, and gave her ticket to a woman at a desk. She pointed to the entrance to the plane. Delia waved back to him, and he and Pikachu waved back. She entered the plane.

Ash watched as the plane took off, and flew into the sapphire blue sky. He waved again, just in case his mother could see him.

'Hey Pikachu,' Ash said, 'Why don't we go to Professor Kukui's lab?' Pikachu nodded, and the pair of them walked out of the airport, and travelled to the Professor's lab.

It was surrounded by tall grass, and it faced the glittering blue ocean. It looked a little battered, the roof had pieces of wood holding it together, the railing had been broken, and wood had been burned at some point.

There was a girl in front of the lab. She was pale, with light blonde hair, and light blue clothing with a white floppy hat. She was also puffing slightly, like she had run a long way. Walking up to the door, she knocked on it, and Professor Kukui opened the door. 'Hey cou- are you okay? Long journey? Come in cousin.'

The girl bowed deeply. 'Tha – thank you sir. I'm Lillie.'

'Well come on in cousin! My home is your home.' Kukui said.

Lillie bowed deeply again. 'I'm eternally grateful for your help sir.' She entered, and Kukui noticed Ash coming around the corner.

'Ash! Welcome to my lab!' Kukui said. 'So your mum left yeah?' Ash nodded. 'Come in. I have two guests today! How lucky are we, Rockruff?

Ash ran through the door. 'Rockruff? Is that a pokémon?' He saw a brown dog-like creature, with big blue eyes. It had rock spikes around its neck. 'Whoa, a Rockruff!'

'Well that Rockruff there has been a regular at my lab,' said Kukui. 'It just doesn't seem to trust any trainer.'

The blonde girl from earlier spoke up. 'Are you a trainer?'

Ash nodded. 'Yeah, I'm Ash, and this is my partner Pikachu.'

'I'm Lillie.' she said.

Ash knelt down to pat the Rockruff, who looked a little wary. As he started to pet it, it started to relax under his touch.

'Well I never.' Kukui said. 'Rockruff seems to trust you.'

Ash looked at Rockruff, who was rubbing his rocks around his neck against Ash.

'Would you like to stay here Ash? Well at least until you get your Island Challenge amulet?' Kukui asked. Ash grinned and nodded. 'That's great cousin! You hear that Rockruff? We have some guests. Woo!'

QOTD: What is your favourite ice type pokémon? Mine's Weavile, I got one in a wonder trade and it almost knocked out a Mega Rayquaza with one hit.
