Negi was a bit amused with how the things ran in this household. Now that she recently found out that her father is a world-renowned surgeon. Which speaks for his mob of grey hair from the years of tense operation. Her mother, on the other hand, is an herbalist. She got a doctorate on botany. That's a bit surprising for Negi since back in her previous life, she believed that herbalist is more of a traditional practice considering the fact that plants are the basis of medicines.

She was quite enthusiastic that she came from a family of doctors, although she was also curious about her coward brother. Not that she cared if he tried to shower Negi with love and praise (and only to be hit by a stray slipper). Negi thought Shiso might be around sixteen or seventeen years old.

Definitely, the time to be critical in choosing their career path. She always saw him cope up in his room every weekend and only come out to eat and then go back. At times, his bedroom lights are also on at midnight. Negi could reminisce back to her university days. Which she should've graduated beforehand. If it wasn't for the motherfucking driver.

(She still holds a grudge about it).

Negi, while being a perfectly normal toddler, tried to sneak behind her mother to get out of the room.

"Where do you think you're going, young lady?"

Negi felt the cold sweat sliding down her forehead. "Nowhere, mama." She pursed her lips hoping that she wouldn't find out.

Fumiko looked at her daughter in disapproval, "You're not allowed to go to the balcony." Negi jaw dropped.

"Mama-!" Negi tried to fumble her words

"-and that's the end of the conversation." Fumiko silenced her, then picked her up. "You make me wonder where did you get that mischievousness from." Sighed Fumiko. She carried Negi to the living room and set her on the sitting pillow. She turned on the television with the remote controller and changed the channel to news anchors. "I don't really know why you keep insisting on watching the news, Negi-chan." Fumiko looked at Negi uncertainly. "But if you really wanted to watch it, then it might be fine." Fumiko turned her back at Negi preparing to walk out of the room.

But before she went out. She grabbed something from her apron and rubbed it at the back of Negi. "Don't try to mask the aroma, Negi. You'll just waste your time. And don't even try to get away with it." Fumiko warned before she left the room.

Negi grabbed a patch of her onesie and sniffed at it.

Damn.

It's mint. She got nowhere else to go now. She cursed at her fate.

"Everyone, look!" The news lady shouted into the mic, snapping Negi out from her despair. The whole television screen was covered with smoke but she can still see the news lady holding on the helicopter door with her dear life.

"He's here!" The news lady shouted gleefully. Then the scene was cut to a hypermasculine man clad in seemingly bright color landing onto the already destroyed area. The dust was blown away, showing the person who fell from the sky. His iconic two strands of hair stood tall and glistening from the flame. His body gave off an immense aura, that even Negi can feel with the television screen separating her from the live stream.

"I am-" Then he slowly rose from his crouch position.

"-Here!" He stood there proud and tall, he did not even flinch when the flames licking him. The villains backed off slightly, fearing that they will be defeated single handly by the hero.

"IT'S ALL MIGHT! THE SYMBOL OF PEACE!" The news lady continued, while the All Might is preparing to fight the villains.

"Surrender now!" All Might said as he lowered himself, "It's the best course of action for all of you." The villain, the leader, gritted his teeth.

"Shut up! You think your so high and mighty, while we lowlife villains are meant to squash under your feet. I'll show you what's like to be rejected by the so-called society!" The villain leader launched himself at All Might. His hand suddenly shifted into a broad sword, he swung hard towards his opponent. His underlings followed right behind him, with their quirks on.

All Might leaped forward and somersaulted. "CALIFORNIA SMASH!!!" The villains were blown away. However, one of them slithered behind him, snakes erupted from his arms.

"HEBI TORNADO!" The snakes wrapped themselves around the muscular arms of All Might and bit him. The snake villain smirked, "You won't even last for a minute with the venom injected- arghh!" All Might grabbed the snakes and spun, causing the snake villain to spin alongside with him.

"OKLAHOMA-" With the snakes released their fangs from All Might's arm, he was able to throw the snake villain towards his comrades. "-SMAASHH!!" With the final blow, All Might knocked all the villains out of consciousness.

"And once again, All Might saves the day!" The distance cheer can be heard, All Might faced the camera lenses and lifted his right arm with his hand tightly in a fist.

"I AM HERE!!!" He shouted.

Negi had never been so awestruck in both current and previous life. She had watched several heroes saving people and other kinds of stuff. Like a guy who's always on fire and whatnot. But the most memorable to Negi was the real-life personification of the American flag. He was so cool and different from the other heroes. Whenever she sees him on the television, she felt the warmth and security enveloped her. It was like sitting in a kotatsu.

"So cool..." Negi whispered.

"Oh, my. It's a relief that All Might was there to stop them." Fumiko stepped into the living room while wiping her hands on her apron, "I hope Gito comes home safe." Fumiko sighed before she took a seat beside Negi.

"All Might, there!" Negi said enthusiastically, which is very unlikely of her, Fumiko thought to herself.

"Yes, yes. All Might's there, fighting crimes left and right. To let us live a peaceful life. He's a hero, Negi-chan." Fumiko smiled at Negi.

Negi pushed herself off the tatami mat and pointed at herself. "Negi too can be a hero!" She announced loudly, "Negi can do that! Negi will do it!" Fumiko looked at Negi with a surprised expression before a smile broke it.

"Negi-chan, you want to be a hero? To be a hero, one must have a quirk-"

"Negi will have a quirk!" She cut her mother's sentence off.

"Negi will have it!" With such a determination on Negi's face, Fumiko bit her tongue to fight the urge to squeeze Negi in a hug.

"Alright, Negi-chan. Let's have dinner, why don't go call your brother?" Negi pouted. She knew that there's no way to get out of that request, so she went to her brother's room. Despite the hallway was a bit dim, Negi can still see the light from her brother's bedroom. She twisted the doorknob open and tiptoed into his room without him noticing her.

She has never been into his room before. It looks more like a library that a room. Actually, more of a biology lab. There are two bookshelves on two side of the room, multiple human body system models, and even some sort of weird things kept inside the jars.

Are those human hearts?

Shiso's bed was tidy, much not seen from a typical male teen. Although there are stacks of books beside the foot of the bed. Not to mention, most of the books are thick and heavy. So, her brother's a book nerd? That's unusual.

Negi took a closer look at her brother's current position. He sat in front of his desk, books, and pencils scattered across the surface. There are some flashcards here and there. Negi tilted her head to look at her brother. His hair is disheveled, sticking out on all places. His face was pale and dull, making his eyebags more visible. He toyed his pencil around his left finger while turning pages with his right. (Oh man, her university days).

Nevertheless, he looks quite charming.

Damn you, genetics. When will she get something good out of it?

"Eat, dinner." Negi blurted, scaring Shiso out of his chair.

"Don't do that, Negi-chan!" Shiso whined, "You're scaring me!" Negi glared at him. She suddenly saw the title of the book he was reading. "This is going to hurt" by Adam Kay. Strange, why is he reading an English book?

"Book?" Negi asked. Shiso raised his eyebrow. He gave the book to Negi and grinned.

"You interested? Haha, I was reading this book. Although, it's in English. I had a hard time trying to understand some of the words." Then he reached behind Negi to grab a small but thick book, "I had to use a dictionary to translate the words." Shiso laughed.

Negi flipped to a random page and read a paragraph. Indeed, it was informative and entertaining. She liked it very much.

"You might don't understand the words, Negi-chan." You are dead wrong, you dunce. Negi thought.

Shiso gently held Negi's hand, he put the dictionary on her palm. "Negi-chan, I might not come for a long time..." Shiso had a solemn smile on his face.

"Why?" curious, Negi asked.

"Your brother is going to America to study." Shiso said, "I'm going to Havard. It's on the other side of the world, very far from Japan. Nii-chan is busy studying, so he won't have much time to be here with you." With tears in his eyes, Shiso continued.

"I'm going to become a doctor. When I come back, I will spend all my time with you, alright? So, hold on to this dictionary. I might forget my Japanese when I come back."

With that, Negi knew that it'll be a long time before she will have contact with him.

"Okay."
