Medkit sighed to himself, sitting at the bar alone. He had been dragged here by Sword and Rocket who had left him to go dance together, both of them already shitface drunk. They'd been there for about an hour now, Medkit just aimlessly sipping on his second drink, thinking and taking in other people's stupidity around him. Mindlessly staring at his drink, he noticed the ice had already melted. Good, he was a lightweight drinker anyways. Just as Medkit took out his phone to text Sword that he'd be leaving shortly due to his work in the morning, he heard an all too familiar voice.

"M'ddy...! Is th't youuu?" Subspace appeared behind the deer-like demon, wrapping his arms around his shoulders, hanging on him. "Subspace? Get off of me." Medkit growled, pushing the pink demon away, causing him to whine. Medkit noticed he was completely wasted, hardly being able to stand. 'I haven't seen him this drunk since we snuck out that one time.' Medkit recalled to himself, remembering the time he and Subspace had snuck out underage to a bar.

"Why y'ure.. 'lone?" Subspace asked, rewrapping his arms around the man's shoulders. Medkit stiffled a sigh of annoyance, quickly texting Sword that he was leaving. Rocket should be sober enough to get them home without dying. "I'm leaving." Medkit growled, pushing Subspace's arms off again, standing up from his stool. Walking towards the door to leave, he felt a hand grab his, drunkly intertwining their fingers and holding onto his arm. "I w'nna.. w'th!" Subspace announces, hardly being able to speak a cohearant sentence.

"Absolutely not." Medkit shook off Subspace's grasp, leaving the bar. To his dismay, Suspace followed him out, rambling about some incohearant nonsense as he followed. Ignoring the pink demon, Medkit just kept walking, hoping Subspace's drunken mind would sober up even in the slightest and leave him alone. They were sworn enemies after what had happened between them, no way that's changing just because of some alcohol.

Eventually leaving Crossroads and entering the land of Lost Temple, Subspace continued to follow closly behind Medkit, his speech getting worse. All of a sudden he tripped, completely eating shit. Medkit looked back at the thump made as Subspace's face hit the ground, stiffling a laugh. He quickly took out his phone to take a picture, making sure to get all the right angles. Subspace would never forgive him if these got leaked, giving Medkit an idea. He'd let Subspace continue following him in return for all the blackmail of embarrassing photos.

Subspace looked up from his fall, staring at Medkit. "..p'shh'd me!" He shouted, struggling to his feet. Pointing accusingly at Medkit, he repeated himself, "p'sh'd me!" Medkit smirked at the sight in front of him. "Right, yeah, I totally pushed you from 6ft away." He turned away and continued the walk as Subspace trailed behind him, angrily mumbling accusations and insults at the doctor.

Looking back at the scientist, Medkit sighed. "Why are you following me, Subspace?" He had stopped in his tracks. Subspace caught up to stand beside Medkit, grabbing his arm once again. He didn't give a fast, snarky reply as he normally would, instead he seemed to be thinking of an answer. "..I.. " Subspace trails off for a moment, "I d'nno..! I m'ssed you!" He concludes, his grip stronger than before on Medkit's arm. The doctor sighed, "right. Even when shitfaced you still keep up that 'I'm sorry' act, it's embarrassing." Medkit growled, looking into the eye of his enemy. 'How can he keep up with manipulating even when completely wasted? It's kind of impressive.' Medkit loathed his ex-partner's presence, but he couldn't help but feel impressed at his ability to keep up the act. "No." Subspace replied simply, now hugging the doctor's arm. "No? Y'know what, I don't care." Medkit sighed, continuing the walk with Subspace latched onto his arm.

Eventually they made it to Medkit's house, Subspace only falling on his face another 2 times. Taking out his keys and unlocking the door, he looked back to see the scientist staring at him. "You're not coming in." Medkit stepped inside, shutting the door behind him, only for Subspace's foot to be in the way. Sighing in annoyance, Medkit opened it again. He was honestly too tired to deal with the whining Subspace. Stepping aside to let the scientist stumble in, he cursed himself under his breath. What was he doing?

Right as Subspace stepped in the house, he started gagging. "Oh god." Medkit mumbled to himself, quickly grabbing his enemy's arm and basically shoving him into the bathtub of the nearest bathroom, quickly taking Subspace's mask off. He watched in disgust as Subspace vomitted, getting it all over his clothes and hair. Not missing a beat, Medkit snapped a picture of the embarrassing scene infront of him. "These are going to everyone in Crossroads." He smirked to himself, pulling Subspace up whenever he was done.

"What am I going to do with you?" Medkit spoke to no one in particular, the pink demon being far too drunk to understand anything that was happening in the current moment. Looking at the man drenched in sweat and vomit, he left him in the bathroom and went to get a change of clothes for him. Medkit and Subspace were always around the same size, Subspace only being an inch taller. They had always shared clothes whenever they were still lab-partners, seeing no reason for them to not whenever it was convenient. Grabbing a simple black t-shirt and gray sweatpants, Medkit makes his way back to the bathroom.

No way he was going to let Subspace anywhere around anything of his covered in vomit. Pulling the scientist out of the bathtub, he took Subspace's shirt off, fighting against the pink demon to do it. Eventually the taller demon gave in, just letting Medkit strip his shirt. Medkit took a moment to look at the rot taking over Subspace's body. Subspace stared absently, watching as Medkit turned to the tub, turning on the water to rinse the vomit out. Feeling a hand grab his horn, Subspace was basically pushed onto the floor, his head dangling into the bathtub.

"Work with me here, Sub." Medkit growled as the scientist squirmed. "You have vomit in your hair, I'm not letting you walk around like that, it's disgusting." Kneeling beside Subspace, he forcefully rinsed the fresh vomit out of the demon's hair, getting himself and the floor soaking wet. Growling in annoyance, Medkit regrets not leaving Subspace outside in the dark. "You always knew how to piss me off, huh?" The doctor stares at the scientist in hatred, turning the water off, watching the scientist look around like he was just free from being waterboarded. "..ggg..huh..?" Subspace is confused as of what just happened.

"You're going to be a pain in the ass tomorrow." Medkit concluded, grabbing the clean shirt he had brought, struggling against the scientist to dress him. Once the shirt was on, Medkit turned to Subspace's pants, still soaked in vomit. He took no time to strip those off the drunk as well, deeming it not-weird from their history of comfort around each other's bodies. They had shared the same bed in nothing but boxers numerous times before their fallout, why would it be weird now to be met with a more decent situation than that?

After a few minutes of struggling with Subspace, trying to dress him in pants, Medkit gives up. "Fine, you'll just sleep without them." He rolls his eyes, grabbing Subspace's wrist and leading him to a guest bedroom. He basically tossed Subspace on the bed, "sleep," was his only command before leaving the room to go wash the vomit-soaked clothes left in his bathroom.

Subspace sat there confused before deciding he didn't want to go to sleep yet, stumbling out of the room to follow Medkit. Medkit was acutely aware of this, ignoring the scientist's presence. "M'ddy.." Subspace whined, wrapping his arms around Medkit's waist as he threw the clothes into the washer. Medkit continued to ignore him, simply removing his arms and walking to his own room. Of course, Subspace followed, watching silently as Medkit changed out his shirt and pants into something more comfortable. He wouldn't remember this anyways when he woke up.

Feeling the tiredness of his stressful day of 3 back-to-back phights, Medkit crawled into his bed with a sigh. It was already 2:45am and he had to be up by 6. Watching the doctor get into bed, Subspace followed, laying right beside him. "..missed you." Subspace mumbles, wrapping his arms around Medkit once again in a cuddle. Too tired to care, Medkit ignored the quiet mumbles coming from the man who was once the only joy in his life, switching the light beside his bed off. Engulfed in darkness, Medkit was faintly comforted by the soft murmers and disgusting smell of rot coming from the man beside him. Realization that he's currently in bed with his sworn enemy, the man who ruined his life, the one who so desperately wants him dead slowly set in, but yet, Medkit couldn't help but wrap his arm around Subspace, turning on his side to tuck the scientist's head into his chest. Even if this will cause hell tomorrow, Medkit had felt comforted and contempt to stay in this position forever.

Slowly coming to his senses, Subspace woke. His head was pounding due to last night's amount of alcohol, a sharp ring splitting open his ears. Opening his eye, Subspace was met with his enemy in bed next to him who was sitting up, awake and reading a book. Startled, Subspace yelled and jumped back, falling out the bed. "Careful, don't want to hurt yourself anymore than you already are." Medkit chimed. "HUH??" Forgetting the pain in his head, Subspace shouted in confusion, instantly regretting it as the pouding increased. Grabbing his head in his hands, he groaned. "Why am I here? What the hell did you do? And where are my clothes!" Subspace questioned, quieter this time.

"Well, you insisted on following me home last night and proceeded to vomit all over my bathroom." Medkit replied, not looking up from his book. "Be glad I didn't leave you on the streets, you probably would have fallen off the bridge back to Crossroads." Looking up from his book, Medkit eyed the scientist who was just sitting there confused, head in his hands.

"Why am I here?" Subspace repeated himself, looking up accusingly at the doctor. "Did you do something to me?" He growled. "No, in fact you made it your personal goal to follow me, basically crying every time I tried to stop you." Medkit put his book down, standing up. He walked over to Subspace and pulled him up. "I'll get you some water, lay back down." He instructed, leaving the room.

Confused and in pain, Subspace didn't feel like fighting. He sat down on the bed, rubbing his eye. Medkit soon came back in with a glass of water and some medicine. "Here," he handed them to Subspace who downed both quickly. "Did you put poison in that?" He asked after the fact he took them. "If I wanted to hurt you, don't you think I would have last night?" Medkit rolled his eye, pushing Subspace into a laying position. "Stay, I made something while you were asleep." He left the room again.

Subspace looked over to see a clock on Medkit's nightstand. 2:56pm. He must of overdone it at the bar, regretting his actions severely. The doctor soon came back in, lifting Subspace's shirt, startling him. "What are you doing?!" The scientist shouted, pulling his shirt back down. "Fixing that rot problem of yours. It's disgusting and obviously spreading." Medkit growled. Subspace noticed he was holding a jar of some unknown substance. Deciding that he honestly didn't care if Medkit killed him, Subspace gave in, letting Medkit remove his shirt. Flinching as the cold substance met his skin, he growled, "that's cold!"

"You complain a lot, don't you?" Medkit continued to put the ointment on the rot down Subspace's jaw and torso, holding the squirming man down. "Stay still!" He gorwled, trying to rub the soliton in. "It's cold!!" Subspace repeated, trying to get away from the doctor. "There, done." Medkit released his grasp on the demon, letting him squirm away. "I washed your clothes, they're on the nightstand if you haven't seen." Medkit nodded to the nightstand on the side of the bed Subspace slept on. "How long was I asleep? And what all happened exactly?" Subspace asked, grabbing his clothes and dressing himself. The two shouldn't have been as comfortable as they were with each other considering they were enemies, but their intertwined past together made them skip that small detail.

"Well, I went out to the bar with some of my friends and then you came up and started clinging on me, so I left and you followed, whining about how you missed me. I fell asleep before you, it was around 2:50am last time I checked the time, so you slept around 12 hours." Medkit answered, going through the simple version of what happened. "Also you ate shit." Medkit smirked, taking out his phone to show Subspace the pictures he took. Subspace stiffened, looking in horror. "Delete those! DELETE THEM!" He shouted, reaching for Medkit's phone, his claws gripping Medkit's wrist as he held the phone away.

"Not a chance! You made me clean up your vomit and dirtied my sheets, I'm keeping these!" Medkit rejected, holding his phone away from the desperate demon. "Just delete them! I'm sorry! I won't bother you again- ever!" He pleaded, still reaching for the phone. "I already told you, not happening!" Medkit quickly turns off his phone, it now being safe with the password. "Now you can't get in." He smirked at Subspace, triumph over his victory.

Subspace stared at Medkit in dismay. The doctor could swear he seen tears in the demon's eyes. "I won't share them with anyone, I promise. Well, not unless this happens again." Medkit tosses his phone on his bed. "You're so mean, Meddy!" Subspace whined, having visibly relaxed at Medkit's promise. "Maybe I'd be nicer if you weren't such a pain in the ass." Medkit scoffs. "Your head feelin' better?" "Yeah, a bit." The pounding was still there, but it had lifted a bit. "I don't remember anything from last night." He sighed, rubbing the bride of his nose between his eyes.

"Why do you take such little care of yourself?" Medkit asks suddenly, causing Subspace to look at him in cofusion. "Where did that come from? And why do YOU of all people care?" The scientist's eyes narrowed. "And why would you of all people come chasing after me, whining about how you missed me, and then cuddled with me in my bed after rejecting the guest bedroom?" Medkit countered, crossing his arms. "Because I was in a vulnerable state? You know I'll say anything to get easy access to what I want." Subspace lied, although it was seamless. He really did miss Medkit, the alchohol must of made his guard drop. Medkit seen the slighest flicker of Subspace's crystal between his horns. "Now answer my question." Subspace prompted. "I asked mine first." Medkit retorted.

Sighing, Subspace gave in. He wasn't in the state to be his usual annoying self with this headache. "Fine! I never have the time to, y'know, busy being Blackrock's greatest!" His ego lifted at the self-made title. "Right, but you have the time to drink, get shitfaced, eat shit, and sleep with your so called enemy?" Medkit's gaze was sharp. "From the sheer lack of fat and msucle on your body, you're obviously severely underweight, I could overpower you at any given minute due to your lack. I hope you don't actually think I'll believe you've skipped less than the past 3 meals."

"So what if I skip meals sometimes! It's not your place to care, traitor! Maybe if you actually stayed like me like you promised, I'd be more willing to listen to your so-called advice!" Subspace growled, defensively. His voice was picking up volume, obviously about to lose his inside voice and go back to his average loud self. "You know I HAD to leave! You act as if it was my goal to leave you specifically!" Medkit growled in return, "I never wanted to leave YOU, you were the only reason I stayed in that damned place so long." Medkit defends himself, not realizing the words he just said.

"I kept you there?" Subspace asked, his voice lowering once again. "What do you mean I was the reason you stayed there?" He stares at Medkit, something flickering in his eyes. Medkit turns away. "N- Nothing..." Medkit stammers, refusing to meet the gaze of Subspace. "No, tell me." Subspace steps closer to Medkit, grabbing his arm, claws pressing desperately at bare skin. "Tell me!" Desperation grows in his voice.

Medkit pulls his arm away. "It was years ago, why does it matter?" Medkit meets Subspace's desperate gaze. "If what you said is true, then why were you so against my ideas?!" The pink demon grabs the doctor's arm again, this time having a tighter grasp. "Because-..!" Medkit growls. "I'm not talking about this." He decides, closing the conversation. "When are you leaving, Tripmine?"

"Whenever you give me answers." Subspace decides, his free hand grabbing Medkit's other arm. "Tell me what I want to know. It's been years, right? So why won't you just tell me and give me closure?" Subspace desperately searches Medkit's gaze, aware of the longing in his own. "We're enemies, Subspace. You shouldn't be here." The deer-like demon turns his head away, trying to break free from Subspace's grasp without casuing him to dig his claws into his skin. "You should be working or something by now."

"I don't care, Medkit. Just tell me, please!" Subspace is beginning to plead, ready to set his pride and ego away and beg if he has to. "Don't you owe me that much?" Medkit sighs, "another time, Subspace. You know we both have time to do right now, it's already past 3:30." The doctor's eyes look dull. "What time then! I can come back tomorrow." Subspace is openly desperate to know, not caring if he currently seems weak. "Please! I need to know, Medkit. You can't keep this from me. Please."

Medkit is silent for several moments before answering with a sigh. "Just.. I'll tell you when." Medkit responds. Subspace's grasp leaves Medkit's arms. "Fine. You know where to find me." Subspace's voice had dropped to monotone, rare for him. Turning away from Medkit, he leaves the room, finding his items on the table by the door, he slips his shoes on and leaves the medic's house silently.

Staring at where he seen the scientist leave, Medkit can't help but feel a pang in his heart. He wishes he never let Subspace follow him. Grabbing his phone, he sat on the bed, opening up his messages with Sword.

>Hey, Sword? You got a min?

A minute went with no reply before it turned to read.

>>yeah whats up ^_^
>I don't know, really. It's embarrassing.
>>im open ears med!! u dont have to be embarrassed over anything with me u know i dont judge

Medkit silently hated on the fact Sword typed with no grammar indications at all.

>It's not much, just felt a little down about something that just happened with an..
>Old friend.
>>old friend? who? u dont have to answer that but i can listen to ur problems if u want
>Not much happened, but..
>I'm not sure. I have to.. admit something?
>I have to come clean about past.. feelings.
>>past feelings? did u like this old friend or something
>Yeah, I guess you could say that.
>>just be honest abt it and stuff u just gotta do it and get it over with
>>no use to stall
>>but why does old feeling matters? i thought u said u had no friends outside of me and rocket and zuka did u and ur old friend fall out

Medkit sighed. He decided to come clean about the whole story. He trusted Sword.

>You won't tell anyone of this conversation, right?
>>ofc not
>Well, you know the "Old friend."
>>i do?
>Yeah, although I don't really think you're fond of him. No one is.
>>who is it?
>Subspace. We used to be really close-- and I mean REALLY close. Closer than you and Rocket are.
>>subspace?? hes such a prick! how could u stand him..
>I know. But, back then we were something closely related to that of.. more than friends.
>>i didnt know u had a love life!! thats so good for u med ^w^ but what happened between u
>Well, we were lab partners when I still worked at Blackrock, that's how we met really when we were kids.
>I didn't always.. agree.. with his ideas since they almost always lead to him hurting himself, and when I left Blackrock, he thought it was because I was trying to abandon him.
>A fight broke out between us, and long story short, that's how we both lost an eye and became sworn enemies.
>>oh.. and then what
>Well, last night at the bar, we kind of ran into eachother. He was drunk and followed me home when I left.
>I let him stay over since he could barely stand on his own. When he woke up this morning, everything was going pretty well considering we haven't seen each other except during phights, not to mention havent talked to each other.
>Well, I let my tongue slip a bit and now he's like.. desperate for the full half of my story.
>I don't really know how to talk about it either.
>>u just have to be honest with him
>>let him know all the things uve kept locked up
>>dont hold anything back

Medkit stared at Sword's advice. He wasn't very pleased with it, but he trusted the younger demon's advice.

>I'll try. Thank you, Sword.
>>im always here if u need me med :3

Setting his phone down, Medkit rubbed his temples. "Gods, what am I gonna do." He mumbled to himself.
