         "Halloween.

         How the hell do I explain this to O?

        She came home looking pretty shaken up; I hadn't left for work yet, but was getting ready to do so. She had the concept of Halloween explained to her by coworkers, but still didn't understand WHY children put on masks and asked strangers for candy. It really isn't a tradition that extends to adults, and it is certainly a weird tradition, but it is all in fun. I tried my best to go over the basic concept, and had to dabble in the history that Romania itself has in the origin of vampires. She stared at me as though I had lost my mind, but in the end we were laughing about it.

        I should tell her about some other holidays before they arrive."
