Y/N POV

It's been a few weeks after that incident with Roman. He hasn't called me to any jobs which I'm happy about, but it false hope unfortunately.

All my injuries healed thankfully but Ruby still comes up and checks me. It's not like I mind, but when you hardly ever socialize with other people, I was very hesitant about her wrapping me in new bandages. But Red is stubborn as hell to the point I let her.

Right now everyone is in combat class with Professor Goodwitch, Jaune and that asshat Cardin are having a go at each other. Unfortunately Jaune is at a major disadvantage.

He's lost his shield and he's exhausted from the look of it while Cardin hasn't broken a sweat.

Jaune charges and attacks, but Cardin easily predicts this and blocks him with the hilt of his weapon, leaving them in a clinch.

Cardin: This is the part where you lose.

Jaune: Over my dead-!

Jaune never finishes as Cardin knees him in the stomach. Jaune drops to the floor, Cardin stands over him with his mace ready to finish Jaune. That's when Goodwitch calls the match.

Goodwitch: Students, as you can see, Mr. Arc's Aura has now dropped into the red. In a tournament-styled duel, this would indicate that Jaune is no longer fit for battle, and that the official may call the match.

Jaune stays on the floor defeated and miserable as Goodwitch continues.

Goodwitch: Mr. Arc, it's been weeks now. Please try to refer to your Scroll during combat. Gauging your Aura will help you decide when it's appropriate to attack, or when it is better to move to a more... defensive strategy. We wouldn't want you to be gobbled up by a Beowolf, now, would we?

Cardin mumbles something I couldn't hear but I know it's not polite. I swear people like Cardin are the reason I took my line of work. Cocky, self-centered, egotistic pricks.

Goodwitch: Remember, everyone, the Vytal Festival is only a few months away! It won't be long before students from the other kingdoms start arriving in Vale, so keep practicing! Those who choose to compete in the combat tournament will be representing all of Vale!

This leaves most of team RWBY excited. It's funny that Ruby is actually shaking in anticipation.

The bell rings as everyone, except Jaune, Pyrrha, and me, leave.

I see Pyrrha saddened at Jaune's unfortunate defeat. I can't take seeing someone so defeated, it reminds me of when I was a kid.

I walk down to Jaune as I give Pyrrha a reassuring smile. Jaune still lays on the ground and I crouch down next to him.

Me: Hey man, you alright?

Jaune: I could be better...

Me: Look don't let him get you down. This is only a bump in the road to your path to victory.

Jaune: Really? Certainly doesn't feel like it...

Me: Well you'll learn from this. Learn from your mistakes and improve on them from there.

Jaune finally sits up and looks at me.

Jaune: Do you really think I'll get better?

I put my hand on his shoulder and shook him a bit.

Me: With the right motivation and push, you could definitely achieve it.

I give him a smile and he returns it. I stand up and lift him to his feet.

Me: I'll catch you at lunch Jaune.

I walk away but see Pyrrha with a smile of gratitude pointed my way. I wave to her and continue on.

Time skip

It's now lunchtime and we're all eating while Nora tells us a story about her dream.

Nora: So! There we were, in the middle of the night...

Ren, who is eating next to her, chimes in.

Ren: It was day.

Nora: We were surrounded by Ursai...

Ren interjects again.

Ren: They were beowolves.

Nora: Dozens of them!

Ren: Two of them.

Nora: But in the end, they were no match... And in the end, Ren and I took them down and made a boatload of Lien selling Ursa skin rugs!

As Nora went on, I noticed that Ruby and Pyrrha were watching Jaune with concerned looks.

Ren: She's been having this recurring dream for nearly a month now.

Pyrrha speaks to her leaders after watching him be miserable for so long.

Pyrrha: Jaune? Are you okay?

He jumped slightly, probably startled out of his thoughts.

Jaune: Huh? Oh, yeah! Why?

Ruby: It's just that you seem...

Me: Like you're going though hell.

Ruby: Exactly! But watch your language Y/N!

She playfully hits my arm as Jaune responds.

Jaune: Guys, I'm fine. Seriously! Look!

He weakly holds a thumbs up completely contradicting his last statement.

Nearby I could hear obnoxious laughter. I look back to see Cardin and his team with a timid looking faunas.

Pyrrha: Jaune, Cardin's been picking on you since the first week of school!

Jaune looks at Pyrrha, baffled.

Jaune: Who? Cardin Winchester? Nah... He just likes to mess around! You know, practical jokes!

Ruby: He's a bully Jaune.

Me: No he's way more than that. He's a self-centered douche bag.

Jaune: Oh, please! Name one time he's 'bullied' me.

I can already think of several times he's bullied Jaune.

Pyrrha: Jaune, you know if you ever need help, you can just ask.

Nora: Ooooh! We could break his legs!

Me: I don't entirely oppose that either.

Jaune: Guys, really, it's fine! Besides, it's not like he's only a jerk to me; he's a jerk to everyone.

The laughter from before gets louder. I turn back again to see Cardin tugging on one of the faunas's ears.

Faunas: Ow! That hurts!

Cardin: I told you it was real!

Russel: What a freak!

Oh now that's the last fucking straw for me. That prick is going down. I plan to get up but Pyrrha says something.

Pyrrha: Atrocious. I can't stand people like him.

Me: Yea? Well I'll set him straight.

I angrily take off my uniform jacket and throw it on the table, as well as loosening my tie.

Ruby grabs my arm before I go.

Ruby: Y/N! What are you doing?

I look at her and see the concern in her eyes.

Me: What needs to be done...

I gently shake out of her grip and walk up to CRDL.

They look up in my direction and laugh louder.

Me: Hey assholes! She wants you to stop.

Cardin: And what are you gonna do about it? You think you're so cool and classy with that suit of yours, but I bet you're just a punk!

I give a low chuckle at his attempt at intimidation. He has no training in the true art of such.

Me: The punk thing might not be far from the truth, but at least I have more class than all four of you clowns combined.

This cut off their laughing immediately as they angrily walked up. Cardin gets up in my face.

Cardin: What was that!

I do the same and face him down.

Me: You heard me, unless you're a (disingenuous) dense motherfucker.

He laughs and starts to turn around.

Ah shit here we go again...

He suddenly turns back and tries sucker punching me. I already anticipated that though and block, followed up with a punch to the stomach to counter.

As he's doubled over I throw him into Russel, which sends both into a table.

Dove goes at me with a roundhouse. I duck and kick out his planted foot with him falling on his head.

Sky puts me into a chokehold but I elbow him in the ribs and back him up into Dove knocking him back to the floor and Sky tripping into a table. Effectively knocking them out.

Russel: You'll pay for that!

I hear Russel coming from behind as well as,who I assume as Cardin coming from the left.

With no other option besides taking hits, I activate my semblance and duck Russel and stop Cardin's punch.

I sweep Russel's feet and flip Cardin onto him, ending the fight.

I go over to the faunas to see if she's okay.

Me: You alright?

Faunas: Y-yes. T-thank you...

Me: Hey, I'm Y/N. If they pick on you again come find me.

Faunas: Okay, also I'm Velvet...

After I check on Velvet I turn back to CRDL.

Me: If I hear that you're still doing shit like this, I'll make what I did just now look like child's play.

After I leave my little warning, I tighten up my tie and walk back to my table. The cafeteria is silent, in shock with what just occurred.

I get back to my table to see RWBY and JNPR look at me shocked.

Me: What?

Yang: What do you mean: what?!

Ruby: You just kicked CRDL's butts!

I let a little smirk come onto my face.

Me: Yeah, I mean, someone had to set those numbskulls straight.

Blake: But why?

I look over to her as she looks at me quizzically.

Me: A lot of my old friends were faunas. I saw how bad they had it and I couldn't just let something like that go...

Blake smiles as does the others.

Blake: Well thank you Y/N.

Ruby: Yea! That was awesome!

I chuckle and ruffle Ruby's hair.

Me: I'm glad you think so Red.

A/N: G'day lads and lasses! It's been awhile I know...but come on be honest. We all do this if you are a write and we'll finals were a bitch. Schools out though so I have more free time! I want to thank you all for being so patient with me and putting up with my long absence.
