If you ain't scared... you ain't human.

James Dashner, The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1)

I watched Zach's house for three days. Three days he didn't come out for. I pulled up my hood and rode down his street. You could see his window from the street if you knew where to look.

I looked at the window. Blackness was all that I saw. I realized that the window was covered with black paper, it was the only window like that. I stared at the window puzzled. Zach hated to stay in the dark, he hated it. He always felt like it was nothing, just empty. Him blocking all light from entering his room was weird. Really weird. Zach wasn't exactly normal, he was a weird person, but he wasn't that weird. Not Zach.

"Hey you're that girl!"

I snapped around. The girl that kissed Zach at Starbucks was walking towards me, furious. Oh right, he has a girlfriend that he loved.

Why did he come to me then?

Why did he lie to me about that then?

"You're the girl that Zach followed!" The girl yelled as she stomped towards me in tall heels.

Why wasn't Zach here anymore?

Why isn't he with his girlfriend?

"You're the reason that he didn't kiss me back!" She yelled.

What?

"You're the girl he ran after!" She yelled, almost up to me.

At Starbucks?

"You're the reason he hasn't fallen for me!" She yelled at me, her voice raising, only a few steps away from me.

Wait. Aren't they dating?

Doesn't he love her?

Aren't they dating?!

"You're the reason that Zach and I aren't dating! That his heart isn't mine to break! You're the reason he won't even talk to me! You're the reason that I don't have him wrapped around my finger!" She yelled in my face, her face not even a few inches away from me.

"What-" I started. Then she slapped me and ran as fast as she could in heels.

If I didn't have questions before, I sure did now.
