Chp. 8- Fixed

"I don't know what else to tell you."

"Tell me that things will be alright!"

Apollo stared at the floor. "He's going to be alright. He'll-"

"Don't lie to me!" Annabeth had tears in her eyes.

Apollo sighed. "Look. I don't know that.  I don't know if he'll be okay. He's alive, barely. But this is Percy we're talking about." Apollo gave her shoulder a squeeze before he walked back to his patient.

Annabeth let a few more tears fall as she left. Three days since he came back. He had been under Apollo's care since.

Why had everything turned out so bad?

Everything had always been great before something went wrong. Before his her dad had married Helen. Before Thalia became a tree. Before Luke turned to Kronos. Before the second war. Before the third. And as much as she hated to admit, before Percy came back.

She couldn't stand to see him in so
much pain to see him like this. Dying.

She shook her head and teleported herself to her back yard but her mind was still stuck on Percy. He is the patron of the Fates yet still things were so horrible. But then again Annabeth remembered them saying that Anake had woven his thread long before and they had just taken possession of it. But why was it woven so long ago when Percy is in his twenties?

"You have finally asked the golden question," Clotho's voice said as the Fates appeared.

"So what's the answer then?" Annabeth asked. "Why so long ago?"

"Because his life is a fixed thing. There are many outcomes to many different situations. In each he lives and he dies. Our mother foresaw that," Lachesis says.

"So... He will die?"  Annabeth asked in a small voice.

Atropos nods. "Everything does."

"So I can't do anything?"

"You can wait," Clotho offers dangling a thread in front of Annabeth's eyes. "Move on with life when he dies. That is the only way you will see him again."

Annabeth didn't get to question as an IM appeared Apollo stood in it looking frantic. Annabeth slashes the connection before he can say a word and disappears from her spot.

Slowly Atropos raises her scissors. "You did well champion. But it is time for the next chapter."

Annabeth ran in the room. Percy was awake and stared blankly as Apollo hurried about. Annabeth ran to his side. His eyes focused on her a pained smile broke out on his face.

Annabeth grabbed his face and kissed him. "You're okay," she told him hoping the Fates had been wrong. "you'll be okay."

"I love you," he whispered as she pulled back from their embrace. She smiled and wiped away a tear as his eyes unfocused for the last time.
