Captain Dipper looked over the edge of the boat and heaved a sigh, "damn these tides, I feel that there's a storm coming in from the East."

"And eastern storm aye?" Dipper turned around to see Gideon leaning  against the railing, "damn your senses must be sharp today, what's on your mind? Rest well?"

Dipper looked back into the cool dark water and Gideon instantly remembered the nightmares that the captain had been having ever since they went out to sea. Which was forever ago. Gideon winced at his own mistake, "well....uh...better than usual?"

Dipper continued to stare into the depths of the sea. "Black Sea...I used to love this area, but now..." He trailed off, because he was captain he could do that, and looked back at Gideon.

"Now what?" Gideon asked, glancing around. He didn't particularly like storms especially when he was on a ship, but that's the life of a pirate.

Dipper didn't answer right away, and Gideon thought that the captain hadn't heard what he had said, "captain?"

"Yes?" Dipper looked exhausted, but he managed to somehow sound like he had a little bit of fire left in him. And Gideon admired him for the strength he had.

"You should get some rest." Gideon said quietly and he almost regretted saying it instantly.

Dipper turned to face him and Gideon gulped. "I'm not tired." Dipper lied.

"You look exhausted." Gideon commented, "and the crew are starting to notice it now."

Dipper looked around slowly and saw that Gideon was indeed right. The crew had been staring and noticing how tired he had been lately and he hated it. Most of the time, they admired him for his courage but ever since he had...an issue, they had begun to see a completely different side of their humanity's strongest pirate.

Dipper sighed quietly and looked back out to sea. How long had he been here? Days? Weeks? Months? He gulped, years? How long had it been since he had seen his sister?

Gideon rolled his eyes and chuckled. He knew that his captain was in his own little world at the moment and wouldn't come out for awhile. "Dipper, as your friend, I'm telling you to get some sleep."

Dipper was surprised, most people called him captain or captain Dipper, but no one ever used his name freely like that. He looked over at Gideon and saw his old friend there. "Fine, but only because I trust your judgement." He draped one arm over his shoulder to hold the cape-that was resting on his shoulders-as he walked towards his cabin.

Dipper woke up in a cold sweat and looked around wildly. When he saw that he wasn't drowning, he let out a sigh of relief. He wiped the sweat off his forehead and got out of his cot.

No one else was awake. He silently cursed for falling asleep, because now nobody was watching or guarding the ship. He walked over to the steering wheel and slowly put the ship back into course. Keeping one hand on the wheel, he dropped one hand to his side and yawned. He knew he was exhausted, he overworked himself every day, and then barely slept at all. He yawned again and turned his cold gaze to the sea and that's when he heard it.

"Come down to the Black Sea, swim with me."

Dipper's eyes widened as he frantically looked around. He figured that he was still asleep and that he needed to wake himself up. He pinched his arm and closed his eyes, before opening them again. He was still in front of the wheel. "Damnit." He cursed and pulled a dagger out of his pocket and traced the tip of it on his arm. He breathed through his teeth and looked around. He was still in front of the wheel.

"Go down with me, fall with me."

Dipper looked around for the source of the voice but he couldn't find anyone. "Oh shit." He whispered, he let go of the wheel and walked over to the side of the ship and looked over the edge. "What the hell.....?" Dipper didn't see anything over the edge. He sighed and looked back at the wheel.

"Love, war, pain, life....everything's the same to me."

That was the voice! Dipper turned back and looked down at the water. He saw a girl, with long blonde hair swimming in the middle of the Black Sea. "What the hell am I on?" Dipper asked as he stared at the girl. "Tell me that you're real."

The girl looked up and her eyes widened. "....." She didn't say anything.

"Did I frighten you?" Dipper asked, then he muttered to himself, "because you sure as hell scared me."

"You speak English?" The girl asked.

"Well yes," Dipper felt a smile tug on the corners of his lips. "Not many people you've met, speak English?"

The girl shook her head, "I actually haven't spoken to anyone but you."

Dipper chuckled, "difficult parents?" He asked as he repositioned himself against the railing.

She sighed and swam closer to the boat, "not just that. It's mostly the fact that my kind aren't....liked in these parts."

Dipper raised a brow, "your kind?"

The girl blushed furiously, "oops." She turned to leave, but Dipper was now curious.

"Wait, don't go!" He called.

"Dipper wake up!"

Dipper panted and sat up, the dream was so vivid, he thought that it couldn't be a dream. He looked up and saw Gideon standing by his side, "......" Dipper looked up at him and he realized that he was sweating. "Sorry." He murmured.

"That's quite alright, but sir, we've caught something that we think you ought to see!" Gideon exclaimed and this gained a little bit of Dipper's attention.

Dipper sat up and tried to get out of bed as fast as he could, but the previous night's drowsiness had really taken a toll on him. He threw on his cape and quickly put on a pair of shoes. He walked out of the room with Gideon not that far behind him. He looked over to where the crew members stood in a circle. Dipper rolled his icy eyes at them and pushed past them. He almost fainted...because it was the girl he had seen the night before.

And that's when he actually fainted.

* * *

Cold water soaked him from head to toe and he gasped, sitting up as fast as he could. He looked around and saw that his crew members were surrounding him with concerned looks on their faces.

Great, now they have affection. Dipper frowned but he wiped some of the water off of his face. "What happened?" He turned to Gideon in hopes that the albino would give him an answer.

"You passed out." Gideon said with an amused smile on his face.

Dipper groaned and stood up slowly, feeling dizzy, "who saw it happen?"

"Only everyone." Gideon grinned slyly.

"Great," Dipper frowned deeper, "now the whole crew thinks that I am not-"

"No one cares," Gideon interrupted. "They still see you as humanity's strongest sailor or pirate."

Dipper looked at Gideon, "seriously?"

Gideon nodded, "so do you want to see what we found or not?"

Dipper had forgotten what his crew had captured and forced him to see, and it was the thing from his dream, or not dream. "I already have seen it." Dipper said wryly. "Where did you find it?"

"We found it in the Black Sea." Gideon explained quickly as the two of them walked across the deck.

"Well put it back in the sea," Dipper waved them off and Gideon gave him a weird look. "What?"

"This thing tried to destroy our ship." Gideon sighed.

"It did what?!" Dipper exclaimed.

Gideon nodded and walked off leaving Dipper alone on the deck. "So where is it?" He called and Gideon pointed to Dipper's room.

Dipper walked into his room and saw it in a pool of water. "How did you-"

"Let me explain!" She interrupted before Dipper could finish.

"Explain what?" Dipper asked, "how did you....you make me think that last night was a dream." He was pacing the floor and then he stopped before her, "did you drug me?" He whispered.

The mermaid laughed. "No, it's called being a Siren."

Dipper closed his eyes and sighed, "that explains a lot."

She laughed again, "you're weird, but I like you."

Dipper was caught off guard and a light blush spread across his face. He wasn't used to anything like that at all, he felt all weird and his throat felt dry. He needed to at least drink something.

The mermaid Siren raised an eyebrow. "Flustered already?"

Dipper took a deep breath, "of course not!" He snapped.

"What's your name?" She asked.

"None of your concern." He replied.

"Can I call you NOYC for short?" The blonde asked, batting her eyelashes. "The name's Pacifica."

"Mhm." Dipper murmured. "Well you can't call me NOYC, because my name is Dipper."

"Interesting name." Pacifica nodded.

"......yes." He said slowly, wondering why he was still talking to her. "How'd you get caught?"

"I was trying to drown you." Pacifica said it as if it was no big deal.

"Well there are quite a few people on the waiting list for that, so you'll have to be patient and maybe I can squeeze you in sometime in the next year or two." Dipper loved his wit.

"You're still weird." Pacifica commented. "But I still like you."
