Today's the day! Finally!, Voidkit thought, after a quarter moon had finally passed. As hard as Darknight tried, he couldn't find a single reason to delay his son's apprentice ceremony longer and begrudgingly set the date to today. I'm gonna make so many friends.. and I can't wait to see Glisteningpaw again!

He sighed happily, impatiently waving his tail. Hearing a stomping outside, the black tom quickly sat up straightly as his father walked in. 

"Son," the older tom said, "It is time."

With that, he whirred around again, leaving Voidkit to scamper after him. 

The sun is so bright today, maybe thats a good sign, Voidkit thought, blinking at the sudden change of lighting. The large dark tom was already seated on the meeting rock. 

"All cats who are old enough to catch their own prey, please go to the center of camp for a meeting!"

Voitkit looked around eagerly for Glisteningpaw and the other apprentices. She was one of the first to exit a den, and she waved excitedly at the tom. Six other cats followed her, and they seemed to be the other apprentices. 

After everyone settled, Darknight stood up and all whispers were quieted. "Voidkit," he said, "you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Voidpaw. I will be your mentor."

The black tom didn't feel shocked, but he was a little disappointed. He stepped up to the rock and pressed noses to his father. 

"I will teach you all that I know," Darknight said, "This meeting is over. Clan dismissed."
