Your parents lived in the highest part of Montana, where the mountains were blooming pink and the grass was so green even the cows were hesitant to eat it.

You had grown up in the city but after retirement your parents had bought a farm, nit far away from the border of Canada.

The weather was good as you pulled the car into the driveway.

Olli, the new dog that your parents had gotten, immediately noticed and came running while barking his lungs out.

You took a deep breath.

"I never told them about you.", you admitted with a nervous smile. "I mean they don't hate androids. But I don't know if... if they would help us get to Canada."

With an encouraging smile, Connor grabbed your face to kiss you.

"I will try to make a good first impression.", he said and got out of the car first.

You remained sitting for a moment and watched him through the window.

Cheerful, he caught Olli, who immediately switched from barking to excitedly wiggling and cooing. The murderous dog turned into a little lap rat, threw himself on his back and spread all four legs so that Connor could scratch the belly better.

Back at the house, the door opened and a person stepped onto the porch. They walked closer.

And all of a sudden a loud, shrill scream filled the silence.

As if struck by lightning, you jumped out of the car and looked at the person who was screaming like the devil had spawned on their lawn.

"Mom!", you shouted and caught her before she could stumble into the dust.

"Connor!", she screamed and pointed at him. "That's Connor! Oh my god am I dead?!"

Connor gifted her a broad smile.

"Hello, I'm Connor.", he said and waved at her. "I like dogs. You have a nice dog."

Your mother screamed.

"What happened?!", a deep, scratchy voice shouted from across a field.

"Dad!", you screamed in panic, knowing fully well that he would tackle and tear Connor apart as soon as he would lay eyes on him. "Please, everyone calm down!"

The large, chunky figure of your father appeared between golden corn and bean sprouts. His face was red from the sun, as expected from him, while he held a large chunk of wood in his hand.

"Dad!", you threw your hands in the air. "Dad, look at me! Look at me! This is not Connor. This is an android."

Connor pulled a face, both confused and offended.

"But I am Connor.", he protested, still petting the dog. "I'm Connor, the android send by CyberLife."

The screams of your mother died down. Gasping out of breath, she dug her nails into your shoulders and turned to you. Her eyes were trembling with horror.

"What the fuck?", she asked.

Surprised by her unusual expression, you raised your eyebrows and just stared at her.

"Mom?", you asked confused. "Are you alright?"

She shook her head.

"I almost had a heart attack you moron.", she flipped the back of her hand against your forehead. "You come back for killing me, beanie?"

You pulled a face.

"No, mom... I just didn't know where to go."

"Ah, so you coming back to leech off of us once again...", dad threw in from the side.

With a sceptical look and the wood still in his hand he walked a huge circle to avoid Connor and eyed him from all sides.

You knew the way he looked at him. He wasn't just not thrilled about seeing him, he was confused and ready to throw hands.

You freed yourself from your mothers death grip.

"Mom, dad.", you gestured towards Connor. "This is Connor. My new android."

Your mother frowned, a little confused but even more worried.

Dad wrapped his arm around her to keep that pushy temper of her down. He had always been calmer than her and managed to go against the many moods she had.

"Beanie...", she said in a careful tone and gave him a strange look from the side. "Why... why would you make an android that looks like... our... your..."

She sighed and decided not to end the sentence.

You appreciated her effort but knew that it was unavoidable to never talk about it again.

"To be honest, I'm not sure...", you admitted with an unsure smile. "But I realised I need him."

Mom frowned.

"Oh sweetheart, but I thought you went to therapy for that."

You sighed and rolled your eyes.

"I did mom. This is different."

"How?", dad asked, still suspicious. "Looks like a Connor to me. Sounds like a Connor. Couldn't you find a human boyfriend?"

Mom gave him a nudge to the side.

"Don't say that.", she whispered to him. "You know our little beanie isn't good with people."

He snorted.

"People aren't good with beanie.", he replied and couldn't help but laugh. Sorry, sweetie.

You rolled your eyes.

"It's fine...", you said and grabbed Connor by the arm to pull him to his feet. "I know this might be weird but... I really didn't know where to go."

Connor smiled and offered your father a hand to shake.

"Nice to meet you.", he said. "I'm Connor."

With a shrug of his shoulders dad took the hand and gave it a firm squeeze.

"You know, you don't have to say your name all the time, boy.", he said. "I already remember it from the first life I've met you in."

Connor frowned.

"First life?"

Mom shook dad's hand off and greeted Connor properly as well.

"Forget what he said.", she smiled in her usual, hyper friendly way. "We're the parents. Mom and dad is fine."

Dad frowned.

"He didn't get to that base yet.", he said.

"He already was.", mom corrected with a warning gaze.

"When?"

"In his first life.", you said with a grin.

"Oh, you're just like your mom.", he snarled.

"I can see. That's a compliment.", Connor said in his innocent way, trying to put something into the conversation.

He made your parents laugh.

"He's not quite the same.", mom noted. "So... Canada?"
