Once upon a time there was girl named Freya. Freya was born in the kingdom of Arrendale, not as a princess though but as a commoner. She wasn't like the normal little girls though; Freya was what you would call a tomboy. Instead of playing with dolls and having tea parties, Freya would build makeshift swords and practice sword fighting with them, she would roughhouse with her friends, who were all boys by the way, and she would dream of being a warrior like her father.

Who was her father you ask? Well her father was a man named Odin, a powerful man who had become a humble fisherman. He was a large man with short red hair but a large red beard that made up for it, always wearing a horned helmet, leather vest, black pants and black boots.

He had married a beautiful woman with long brown hair and emerald eyes who wore a teal dress and black boots. She was a cook and she owned a little bar that would be known to serve the best fish in all the lands. Her name was Valka.

Freya was their daughter though she had inherited none of her parent's characteristics because she was born with long blonde hair and ocean blue eyes, wearing green dress which was the cheapest dresses her parents could afford.

Yes, Freya's family was not doing so well. While other's had no care in the world when it came to wealth, Freya's family barely had enough to get by. The fisherman business was slow since people would prefer deer, chicken and cow meat instead and this meant Valka's bar would barely have any customers and at most only two or three people would be in the bar.

It wasn't the best life but it was the best they could do.

Close to the outskirts of Arrendale and near the woods, stayed a small cabin. The cabin had a large open space and two rooms, with a small fire place by the wall. Outside of the cabin, sounds of chopping could be heard, this was in fact Odin who was chopping wood nearby. He placed the last log upright and chopped it in half with his axe.

Odin wiped his face with his arm and picked up all the chopped up wood, returning home with it. He kicked open the door and stumbled in, trying to balance all of the wood, barely managing to place it in the corner near the fireplace with the axe next to it.

"I'm home!" Odin exclaimed.

"Odin you don't have to yell, I'm right here!" Valka reprimanded as she moved away from the slab she used for cooking.

She hugged her husband and gave him a quick kiss, immediately going back to the slab.

"What is for breakfast today my beauty!" Odin asked as he looked over her shoulder and smiled "Fish! I love fish!"

"Of course you do," Valka said with a giggle but soon slapped his hand away as he tried to grab one of the fish "Ah! Ah! There's only enough for three today."

Odin hummed "Looks like I need to go catch some more today."

"Before you do that," Valka said as she looked at him "Will you please wake your daughter up? I would but I don't want us to go hungry again."

Odin nodded with a grin "Little beast hasn't woken up yet eh? I wonder why?"

"She stayed up waiting for you to come back home." Valka explained.

"She knows the stream is far though."

"I keep telling her but she's got your stubbornness."

"Okay, I'll see what I can do." Odin said as he walked over to the door nearby and knocked on it.

After receiving no answer, he slowly opened it and saw the curtain open and the bed made. He inwardly laughed as he creeped into the room, knowing what was going to happen. It was a small room with only one bed and few neatly folded clothes at the corner.

"Freya? Freya? Hmm, I wonder where she is? Maybe she's here!" Odin announced as he looked under the bed but there was nothing "No? Then where might she be-"

"Rargh!" Freya shouted as she jumped on Odin's back and started punching him though the blows didn't do a thing.

"Ah! No! The pain!" Odin exclaimed as he fell to the floor, pretending to cry out in pain.

"Die fowl beast!" Freya yelled as she kept punching.

"It hurts! No!!" Odin shouted as he shut his eyes.

Freya eventually stopped punching and jumped off him, looking at her father worriedly.

"Papa?" Freya asked, worried she might've actually killed him.

Odin opened his eyes with a grin and grabbed Freya who screamed, he held her in one of his arms while tickling her in the other.

"I have won hunter!" Odin shouted.

Freya couldn't stop laughing as she tried to breathe out an answer "...Nooo!"

Suddenly the door burst open with a frantic Valka looking around the room, the two paused as they stared at her.

"What is going on here?!" Valka asked.

The two looked at each other then back at Valka with smirks on their faces. Freya jumped up and tackled her mother while Odin came from behind and caught her, they both started tickling her which caused the entire family to go into a laughing fit.

"Ha! Okay, okay, enough you two!" Valka exclaimed after what seemed like hours of laughing though it was only a few minutes "Breakfast is ready, both of you go wash up."

"Breakfast!" Freya shouted as she ran out of the room.

Valka and Odin laughed as they watched her run to the kitchen, she shook her head and smiled lovingly at him.

"You're a goof." Valka said.

"You married this goof." Odin retorted.

"Yes," Valka said as she gave him a brief yet passionate kiss "I did."

"Eww!" the two heard and saw Freya standing at the door, cringing at them with her tongue out in disgust.

"Don't eww us, you'll be doing this with your wife." Valka said as she stood up and dusted herself off.

"What!? Gross! I'm never getting mar-mar..."

"The word is married, little beasty." Odin said as he stood up as well.

"Yeah that!" Freya said as she went into the kitchen and sat down with her father doing the same, while her mother went to dish up.

"But you will and you will love her so much that it will hurt to be away from her." Odin said.

"More than you?" Freya asked.

"More than us." Valka responded as she put the plate of fish in front of her and another in front of her husband, sitting down with her own.

"Fish again!?" Freya complained.

"Now Freya, never be picky with your food." Valka scolded "We should be grateful we have any at all."

"But we eat fish all the time! Why can't we get chicken or the food the King and Queen get to eat?" Freya asked.

"Because chicken is expensive." Odin said as he enjoyed his fish.

"And we're not the King and Queen." Valka finished.

"It's not fair! We're stuck living in this little house while they get a castle and all the food they ever wanted." Freya said as she folded her arms angrily.

"Freya-"

"What makes them so special!?"

"Freya enough!" Odin shouted and immediately Freya shut her mouth "It doesn't matter if you're a king, queen, baker, farmer or fishermen. We are all the same just brought up through different circumstances and complaining about it won't change those circumstances, only you can! Now please, let us eat in peace and be grateful for what you have."

Freya looked down at her food and slowly ate it muttering "It's not fair..."

As they ate in silence, sudden knocking from the front door rang out through the house.

"Visitors?" Valka asked as she was about to stand up but Odin stopped her.

"I'll get it dear, you've barely eaten you fish!" Odin said with a grin as he went to the door.

Valka looked at her plate that had a large cooked fish and Odin's plate that was completely empty and actually licked clean.

"Fantastic." Valka drawled sarcastically, causing Freya to silently giggle.

Odin opened the door and immediately his smile fell upon seeing who it was. A man who wore a rich green and red shirt with puffy edges and brown leather gloves, puffy red pants, red and green pantyhose, brown shoes and a red paramour hat with a white feather hanging off it. he had short black hair and cold black eyes and a large belly.

This was Lord Rumplebottom, head of house Rumplebottom and royal advisor to King Agnarr. He was a wealthy man filled with greed and had a lust for power, using his status as advisor to bully those who couldn't do anything against him.

"Lord Rumplebottom sir." Odin said with a fake smile.

"Is that any way to address those higher than you Odin?" Rumplebottom said as he stared at his nails.

Odin looked around and saw armored guards surrounding his house and a carriage on the dirt road, Rumplebottom was even standing on a red carpet to avoid the dirt.

"Uh...of course sir..." Odin said apologetically as he shut the door of his house so that his family couldn't see the events happening, now towering over Rumplebottom.

The guards were about to draw their blades but stopped when Odin got on his knees, taking off his helm.

"Greetings Lord Rumplebottom." Odin said.

"Simple commoner can't even bow right." Rumplebottom said with a laugh, he looked around and glared at the guards who soon laughed as well.

"Do you know why I'm here Odin?" Rumplebottom asked.

"Aye." Odin said.

"What was that?" Rumplebottom asked.

"I mean – yes sir..." Odin said with gritted teeth.

"Why Odin?"

"Because-"

"Because your little embarrassment of a house is the only thing in my way of allowing me to build another manor. Now yesterday I came to you and you refused to sell it and the day before that I got the same answer, so I thought about it and realized that you are a fisherman which is why your little shack is closer to the stream. Then I poisoned the water to get rid of the fish so you could leave but apparently that didn't work." Rumplebottom spoke.

Odin glared at him as he raised his head, no wonder he could barely catch any fish the past couple of days "You did what!?"

"Careful Odin, I could have you and your entire infestation of a family executed for such threatening words."

"But I didn't-"

"Who will the king believe? His advisor or some nobody commoner that is not worth his time?" Rumplebottom asked with a smug smirk.

Odin grit his teeth and looked down at the ground "The house is still not for sale my lord; it is our home."

Rumplebottom groaned "You are really trying my hand Odin. Sell the house or suffer the consequences!"

"It's not for sale." Odin said as his words stood firm.

Rumplebottom clicked his tongue and spit on Odin's boot "Consequences it is and believe me, you will suffer them."

Rumplebottom promptly turned around and strutted to his carriage, a servant gave Odin an apologetic look as he rolled up the red carpet. Once Rumplebottom was inside, the carriage moved with guards marching behind.

Odin sighed as he stood up, wiping his boot and entering his house. Upon entering he saw Valka standing in front of him with a sad smile, Freya's door was slammed shut once he entered.

"Did she-"

"We heard everything, thin walls we have." Valka said as she gave Odin a hug.

"I'm sorry..." Odin said.

"Don't be, you did what you could and I'm proud of you for it." Valka whispered.

Odin put on his helm and picked up a bag and a rod "I'm going fishing."

"Okay, I'll take Freya with me today. What Rumplebottom said got me unsettled." Valka said.

Odin nodded as he left the house with Valka watching him leave sadly.
