Mk so I'm reading the second kane chronicle book rn and I just feel like after Carter got healed it was kinda rushed. Like there was nothing of him being like in shock hardly soooooo I'mma rewrite that part :D

[Sadie's POV]

Carter's fever broke. He shuddered, took a deep breath, and opened his eyes.

"Right," I said sternly. "Don't even ride another bloody snake monsters again!"

... (Skip that part when she's think and the secret name stuff ig)

Carter looked down at his shaking hands and muttered, "I thought... I thought I was going to..." He trailed off.

"You thought you were going to die?!" I exclaimed, baffled. "I was the one that was conscious, and had to heal you!"

Carter look up at me, and then back down at his hands, which were still shaking. "Right. Sorry," he said softly.

I realized that maybe yelling at someone who just almost died wasn't the best approach. Especially if you just look inside their head and learned everything about them. I knew Carter hated anything going wrong because of him, or anyone being mad or upset because of him. He didn't like disappointing anyone.

I tried to work up the courage to at least apologize, but before I said anything I looked at Carter.

He was sitting up now, but his knees were pressed against his chest, and his arms were hugging his legs.
A few tears had fallen from Carter's eyes, but he instantly wiped them away with the back of his hand, when he saw me looking.

"Sorry, I... Sorry..." Carter murmured, with a sniff.

Quite honestly, I didn't know what to do. My older brother was crying. What are you expected to do in that situation?!

I thought about scolding him, but then realized that wouldn't help. Then I thought about trying to crack a joke, I hated when things got too serious. But I also realized that the poor boy had almost died. Not just "a monster attacked us and it was scary", Carter had been on the verge of death and had an incurable poison in his body.

So I decided to do the only reasonable think someone would do when their mate is crying; I hugged Carter.

Horrifying, I know. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

Once my idiot brother stopped crying, Baz walked over.

The dwarf god offered Carter the chocolate nose of his chocolate head. "Here."

Carter rubbed his eyes, which were puffy from crying. "Does chocolate have healing properties?" He asks with a sniffle.

Baz grins. "Nah, [some random thing I forgot what he said-], it just tastes good."

Carter smiled slightly, and took the chocolate nose.

Chile anyways thats all for now :D bye honestly idk if this is good or not but um- bye
