     GABRIELLA KANE tried her hardest to hold onto the things that her mother told her when she was still alive when she was a child. She told her that no matter the circumstances, she should not settle for being anything less than extraordinary. So she never did.

After her father floated her mother, Gabriella went completely rogue. She spent most of her time in Farm Station or on Argo and Factory Station where she caused all sorts of trouble ─ much to her father's dismay.

A few weeks before turning sixteen, the devil in disguise, John Murphy reached out to her and told her he found the guard that got her mother and his father arrested. Two days later they set his office on fire, not expecting him to be inside of it while doing so. That was the last straw for Marcus Kane and he finally arrested her. He grew tired of having to cover for her and said that she had to take responsibility for her reckless actions.

While Gabriella hoped her father was going to be the one that floated her, when the time came, just to make him sulk in guilt for a few years if he actually cared about her enough, he had entirely other plans. On the day Gabriella turned eighteen, she was ready to get floated, but instead, her father's spot on the council gave her a first-class ticket to Earth with ninety-nine other underaged teenagers.

     JOHN MURPHY NEVER knew hope until he stumbled upon Gabriella Kane who was sneaking around after curfew. The night that she came into his life, his world was turned completely upside down.

Before her, he was ready to end up a sad old drunk that never did anything with his life just like his mother. Gabriella's existence made him feel something other than grief and anger. She made him feel loved and appreciated. She matched his rebellious side perfectly and showed him every day that she was not just the stuck-up daughter of Marcus Kane. They were two sides of the same coin and mirrored each other in almost every way. At least back then, when Gabriella thought that there was no hope for her.

Murphy always thought that when the time came he would always choose her no matter what. But he was proved wrong when they landed on Earth and he realized that he was no longer her only priority.

     BELLAMY BLAKE was only sure about one thing in his life from the day his little sister was born; no matter the consequences, he would always protect her and their mother. When Octavia got arrested and their mother got floated, his whole world fell apart and he was left doing nothing but picking up the broken pieces with no one by his side.

When his former boss came knocking on his door and gave him a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that included both seeing his sister and being able to stop her from facing the same tragic death their mother faced, he had no choice but to accept.

That was how he found himself sneaking into the dropship that contained a hundred criminals, wearing nothing but a guard's uniform and a gun strapped to his hip. He never expected to survive planet Earth, let alone fall for a stubborn blonde with anger issues along the way.

His sister was once the only thing he cared about. But as their chances of survival grew slimmer and as his need for allies grew stronger, he realized that keeping Gabriella Kane out of his heart was an impossible mission, despite how much she claimed to hate him.
