"Are you fucking kidding me?!", you shouted as the airplane started to get moving and jumped out of hiding to chase after it.

Adler was right behind you, glued to your heel as always.

"Not fast enough!", he shouted. "Aim for Arash!"

"I can't aim while running, shades!"

Woods and Mason were running a few feet behind you. They were quick on their legs and probably also had a lot of stamina. But even they wouldn't be able to reach a plane that was about to rise into the sky.

Woods head snapped around.

"Quick, before that plane takes off!", he huffed and pointed to your right. "Get to that truck! Let's go!"

Breathing heavily while sweat was already running down your face, you turned to Adler.

Agreeing, he nodded and changed directions.

Now you were running behind him. If you would have been in his position, roles reversed and knew what his true deal was, you would have been hella uncomfortable with him in your back.

But he was as calm and reserved as ever, maybe even confident with you guarding his back.

You could have shot him.

There was a good distance between you and Adler and Woods and Mason. If you would shoot him now, the other two would struggle to react before you took cover. You knew that Woods was a hot headed man, so if you teased him he'd act without thinking.

Your finger twitched on the trigger, putting a little pressure on it.

Mason could have been a problem, but he wasn't as good of a shot as you were. One good opportunity and he'd be dead meat.

You had convinced Adler that a few years out of service mad taken a toll on your abilities, but that was just a lie to make him think you weren't a potential threat to him. You had trained every night in the woods next to your house.

You would have dared to say you were better than ever.

But ultimately, you still needed Adler. There were still more things to discover and more information to be stolen.

He was still of use.

So, you let your finger loosen on the trigger and ran after him instead.

"Hop in!", Woods gave you a hand to jump into the back of the truck with Mason.

Adler slid into the passenger seat and Woods took the wheel.

"You think that's a good idea?", you asked Mason with a smirk and tapped the glass to signalise everyone was on board.

Woods hit the gas.

Tires squeaked. With a sudden jump, the car got going.
Mason raised his riffle.

"He's a better driver than you think.", he replied and started shooting to clear the path. "Take the right for me!"

"On it!", squeezing an eye shut, you aimed for a car that was heading straight towards your truck.

The driver had some sort of fire in his eyes, ready to sacrifice himself if it meant to serve the greater cause. He was ready to cause a crash.

Your finger twitched on the trigger.

Woods was already turning the truck slightly to the left, trying to avoid the approaching disaster.

You aimed, took a deep breath and shot.

The bullet cut through the air like a hot knife through butter.

A shattering sound mixed into the chaos. Tires squeaked.

The drivers head snapped back as the bullet pierced his face. Blood splattered and the car started loosing control.

With one quick movement, Woods turned the truck to the side in such a sharp manner that you lost your balance. You still tried to hold onto something.

But your fingers missed the pole. Like a sack of sand, you slammed into Mason and tore him to the ground with you.

He almost stumbled over the edge of the back of the truck, threatening to end up as roadkill.

"Fucking hell, Woods, where did you get your licence?!", you asked and helped Mason get back on his feet. "We're trying to kill people back here!"

Through the glass window, Woods flipped you off and hit the gas even harder.

The plane was slowly but surely getting closer. Unfortunately, it also rose higher by the minute.

"Window's closing!", Mason warned and managed to take down another vehicle in the same breath. "Whatever you're planning to do, do it now!"

All of a sudden, Adler threw the passenger door open and let a small RC fall onto the street.

Your eyes got caught by the stack of explosives taped to either side and the top. A small red light blinked, indicating that everything was sharp and ready to blow up.

With a whistle, Adler caught your attention.

"Your turn!", he threw a remote control.

Taking a sharp breath in, you managed to pick it out of the air.

"That could have gone wrong, shades!", you laughed and activated the control.

He pulled the door shut.

"But it didn't. Take out the landing gear!"

"Alright, let me see what this baby can do!", you pulled your head in and switched sides with Mason in the trunk. "Be a dear and cover the right. Would be a shame if a bullet would hit it. It's my chocolate side."

A huff escaped Adler. Lucky for him, nobody noticed in the heat of the moment.

With your eyes glued to the small red dot chasing through the dark, you directed the small RC past the lines of the enemy.

The little thing was surprisingly fast, so fast, that all the attempts to shoot it down failed miserably.

One car in front of yours lost control. Someone hit the brakes.

Woods had to tear the steering wheel around to avoid colliding with them.

"Fuck...", you gasped as you lost sight of the RC. "Mason!"

"Top left!", he whispered. "It's right under the plane."

"Lucky me.", you smirked.

At the front, Adler was getting impatient.

"Get under the plane!", he said.

"I'm two steps ahead of you, shades!", you flipped open the safety lid of the launch button. "Happy freedom!"

An explosion tore the darkness apart.
