Description:

Ruby felt alone. Her sister Yang had moved out a few weeks ago. She said she had met someone. Ruby had her doubts. Could it be that her big sister had grown tired of her constant whining?

 Ruby's POV:

I sat up on the edge of my bed. My sister had not told me she was moving out. Yet, a few weeks ago, I came home to find my sister gone, her things missing, and a note that said, "Dear Ruby, I have decided it was high time, I moved out. I know it may come as a shock to you. I mean no harm. It is only that I met someone. He makes me so happy and he has asked me to marry him. I have agreed to do so. The wedding takes place on the eighth of August two thousand and twenty-four at two in the afternoon. Should you decide to attend make sure to wear something nice.  "No slouching, it is bad for your back, and smile for crying out loud. It is a wedding, not a wake."   Oh, and the wedding is at Beacon Academy.

     Your loving sister, Yang.

I  sat there in dismay feeling sorry for myself.  I had never felt so alone in my entire life. Pyrrha and John reunited after years apart and got married two months ago. Blake, had her boyfriend, Sun, and Weiss she was content with Jupiter.  Nora was with Wren, and it seemed like almost everyone else had their special someone. Ruby had no one.

There was no one I could call the man for me.  I knew that much about my life. Was it because I  was a bore?  Was that why the others felt a need to abandon me for romance? Was I a bad leader?  Or was it because they truly had fallen in love?

Whatever it was greatly troubled her. I felt alone and had no idea what to do about it.  I supposed I could attend Yang's wedding since my sister had invited me. I had no idea who her future brother-in-law might be, but I knew I would not miss out on my sister's big day.

I checked the date and realized that was today. I better get ready fast. I picked out a nice red dress and pulled it over her head. I paired it with red sandals, red leggings, a black sweater, and some nice jewelry. I fixed her hair into a short yet cute braided bun. There that ought to do it,I  thought.

I arrived at the wedding and smiled at the others. I found my seat. I smiled as a young boy sat beside me. I did not know who he was but he was rather cute.

The ceremony went by quickly, and soon, I heard the words "The bride is on her way, places everyone." I stood up, and the others did the same. I smiled when  I saw Yang walk the aisle in a bright green and yellow two-toned dress with a matching veil.  I knew my sister was not much for traditional, but that dress was amazing.

The reception was great, with lots of food, fun, dancing, and mingling among the guests.  Yang danced with her husband, Alexander. Nora danced with Wren, Sun with Blake, Juanne "pronounced John" and Pyrrrha, and so on.

I danced alone but felt someone tap my shoulder.  I spun around to see Henry standing there. I  nodded my head in agreement. Soon, I danced with him and enjoyed the dance more than I let on.

I  heard the pitter-patter as the rain came onto the tin roof. I was glad the wedding was inside this way none of us got soaked, and the bride's dress did not get ruined.  I consoled a lad who was wearing out on the balcony. I went to him and hugged him. To my surprise, he was my dance partner from earlier. "So, are you alright?" I asked. "Not when the girl, I like does not even notice me," He said. His tone was low. I could tell a broken heart when I saw one. His was one of the worst cases of broken heart I had seen in years.  I hugged him again and he hugged me.

"Thanks, Ruby," He said. "Don't mention it," I said. I sighed. Soon, the two of them returned to the others who did not seem to notice we had left. I watched in surprise as Yang tossed the bouquet only to have the flowers caught by Blake. This left all of us surprised since Blake had not gotten engaged yet.

Later, after the married couple had left and most of the guests had gone home, I headed to my car. I heard someone say, "Ruby watch out!" I  looked up to see headlights headed right at me and felt someone pull me away to safety. "Thank goodness, you are alright," He said. I smiled.  "Not that anyone would miss me anyway, "I  said.  "That is not true, I would miss you," He said. He lifted my chin and kissed me. I was taken aback by the sudden kiss but responded with a kiss.

 The end...
