Sorry I had to do this but it was something that Gale fears is to be like his father Nightmare...

Probably a bit more backstory is needed... and I think I don't want to because how Gale came into this world was pretty bad... and after that Nightmare left and Outertale Sans after the events didn't want anything to deal with Nightmare but when Gale was born Outertale Sans couldn't abandon his son so even though Gale looked like Nightmare he still loved his son dearly and didn't want Nightmare near him... but Gale when he's asleep is when his father Nightmare talks to him tries to trick and manipulate Gale to be with him and his group which Gale refuses time and time again only to be tortured by others who fear and consider him a freak... soon a genocide run happens and there was no reset so when Gale kills his father Outertale Sans's murderer he is conflicted and scared due to much LV he had obtained and he could hear his father Nightmare's voice laughing in his head and he didn't like it.

Gale tries to stay away from his father Nightmare who constantly reminds Gale that he's not going to be trusted by others like his father and give into genocide and madness even though Gale doesn't want to he knows he's slowly breaking down every time Nightmare shows Gale killing Outertale Sans's murderer over and over again along with the other people who are afraid of him and Nightmare knows the more negative energy Gale and him feel the more powerful they become so when looks at others he's looking for and escape and crying out for help even though no one would ever care or even go near him but Gale still tries to find help and has even stopped sleeping and doesn't want to sleep anymore knowing Nightmare is waiting for him there in his mind ready to torment him more...

Nightmare does show his affection when Gale kills something or does something everyone would consider terrible and scary... Nightmare praises this behavior... this thinking... while Gale everytime is mortified... and just wants Nightmare to leave him alone...  

And when Gale fought Nightmare in his sleep and won Nightmare looks at Gale who gave Nightmare a decent gash to chuckle and say "see... we're not so different..." to which Gale was more terrified about...

Now Gale is on the run because Nightmare has sent Dust and Killer to track Gale down and bring him back alive to manipulate and make him into their group so Gale keeps running even though he's getting more and more exhausted by the hour...

Gale at this point looks to anyone out there who is willing to help him escape and stop him from mentally going insane...

"Please... help me..." Gale says to you all before disappearing as he runs away and trying not to be caught...

[End of backstory]

Yeesh... I made Gale's past terrible... and the reason why it's hard for him to trust others... but trying to reach out for help...
