Welp I got an idea for him being a survivor of a shipwreck when he was a child and he was raised by Samoan/Hawaiian based people/culture thus I was thinking of what the guards would look like and yes this will be on an island that is distant from the main land so no one there knows Herobrine or Notch but instead they know Alexblaze and Jeb like Alexblaze being the main deity while Jeb is the protector/keeper of the shrine.

Steve is tasked to face a tough foe [the wither] that almost destroyed the island village he lives in and gains a trophy from it [this being the wither star] and since he saved his village he was gifted the wither star as a necklace.

Steve is a guard and a fire dance apprentice [he's a full on guard but he's also being taught fire dancing as well which he's still trying to accomplish]

Herobrine has yet to play a part in Steve's life yet since Steve has yet to travel to the main land.

SamoanaGirl101 I was thinking about your culture as well as Hawaiian culture when thinking of this AU and yes Herobrine once he meets Steve would probably be confused by the accent lol.
