Warning for potentially disturbing dreams/nightmares and panic attacks and such

He couldn't move.
He could feel everything around him, he could see things, and he could think, but he couldn't get his arms to move, or his fingers to twitch, or even his toes to wiggle.
His tongue sat numbly in his mouth, and all he found himself able to do was blink sluggishly and lazily look around the room.
He felt like he couldn't breath
He couldn't breath
He can't breath
He can't-

A face is suddenly in front of his. It's familiar, but he can't place it. The most notable thing is the pair of thin glasses resting on the person's nose, the rest of their face is just a smudged mess.
Suddenly there are hands on him, hundreds of hands trailing across his body, grabbing him and pulling him this way and that. He can feel them, he can't feel them and they cold, but he can't move. He can't speak. His heart keeps hammering in his chest, he can hear it pounding in his ears and around him, he can feel it's beat pulsing through his body.

"Ah, looks like it finally kicked in." A distant voice said, it also sounded vaguely familiar...
"bet you feel nice right now, your highness," the voice continued, "You just keep feeling nice and calm and let me do my work."

The hands were pulling his mouth open, slipping inside and wriggling down his throat.

He couldn't breath
He couldn't move

He feels like he's floating, but not in a good way. Like he's being held up by strings, pulling his body taught and still not letting him move, and the hands keep touching and touching and touching

"you'll get us a pretty penny from your parents to get you back." The voice continued, or was it a different voice? His vision was dark and he could just barely make out smudges of color, let alone actual objects or people.

The words muddled into distant mumbling he couldn't understand, but he didn't care, he was too focused on the hands that kept touching and touching and touching

Suddenly his body was moving, the strings and hands moving him along like a puppet or a doll, tugging him this way and that.
Then he felt himself falling, like the strings had been cut and the hands had let him go. He was engulfed by the darkness, which quickly pressed in on him, filling his head with an insane buzzing that made his brain itch and his skin crawl, suffocating him
He couldn't breath
He couldn't breath
He can't breath
He can't-

Virgil shot up with a gasp looking around wildly as he frantically tried to gulp down much needed air. Everything was a blur, it was dark, he couldn't breath, it was to quite and the quiet was to loud, his head was ringing, his-

"Hey, Virgil, baby can you hear me?"

-face was wet, and he found himself quickly choking on his tears, he couldn't breath he couldn't breath he couldn't breath-

"You can breath Virgil, come on, breath with me okay?"

-He can't he can't he can't he can't

"Virgil? Can you hear me? Just try and breath with me okay?"

He was curling in on himself, clawing at his scalp.
It was too much
There was too much
His already distorted vision was growing darker, his frantic attempts to breath getting faster. He couldn't feel hands on him, hundreds of hands, buzzing on his skin and in his head, he couldn't breath he can't breath
He can't breath

Virgil groaned softly as his mind sluggishly dragged itself into consciousness. His head was pounding, his skin felt sticky, his mouth was dry and his tongue felt heavy.

He could hear muffled voices, but they quickly stopped when he groaned softly and peeled his eyes open.

"Virgil? Are you awake sweetheart?" A familiar voice asked next to him.

"...pa'n?" He mumbled, his voice hoarse and his throat painful.

"Yeah it's me baby, and I have Roman and Logan with me too," the voice said again, "are you okay? Can you look at me?"

Virgil tilted his head to the side, and saw three familiar blurs that slowly focused to show his boyfriends, various levels of concern and worry on their faces.

"Hi sweetheart," Patton said softly, "can I touch you?"

Virgil hummed softly and nodded as blinked slowly.

Gentle hands carefully helped him to sit up, and then Logan was next to him, a cup of water in hand.

"You should drink this, you're most likely dehydrated." He said, his voice soft as he held the edge of the cup to Virgil's lips and let him take a few sips.

The water felt good on his throat, cool and refreshing.
"Thank you," He said softly when Logan pulled the cup away.

"You're welcome." Logan said, as he moved to put the cup down on the bedside table.

"You doing okay love?" Roman asked from his spot on the bed not even a foot away.

"I...I don't know," Virgil admitted softly, "what happened?"

"You were having a nightmare," Patton said, "and had a pretty nasty panic attack when you woke up." He continued, "you passed out and I had one of the guards go get Roman and Logan, you were out for maybe fifteen minutes."

Virgil frowned, "I don't...I don't remember that." He said softly, his face scrunching up a bit.

"That's okay dear," Patton said with a soft coo, "do you remember your nightmare? You don't need to talk about it, but we'd appreciate it." He said.

"I..." Virgil thought for a second, "I couldn't move, and there were people talking, and hands on me." He said softly, "I felt sick, and I couldn't breath, but I couldn't do anything, and the voices were talking about me being nice and compliant, and getting them money or something," he said.

"You were talking about not being able to breath when you first woke up," Patton said, "I tried to help but I don't think I did much."

"It's okay pat, I was in a little too deep I guess." Virgil said, earning a smile from Patton.

"This could be the memories from your time being kidnapped resurfacing," Logan said, "the doctor mentioned you might regain some of those memories, and your subconscious might have twisted them into a nightmare, since it was a negative and potentially traumatic situation." He suggested. "It sounds like it might be the case, if the voices you heard mean anything." He added.

Virgil nodded, "that's a good possibility," he said, "I can remember seeing a face, but I can't remember much about it, except for a pair of glasses." He said with a yawn.

"One of your kidnappers did wear a pair of glasses." Roman said as he moved to sit next to Virgil, who happily shifted to lean against Romans side.

Virgil hummed softly, acknowledging what Roman had said, as he closed his eyes as he body sagged a little bit.

"You tired baby?" Patton asked, keeping his voice soft.

Virgil nodded as snuggling closer to Roman, before letting one of his eyes slide open to look around at them.

"...stay with me?" He asked quietly, both physically and mentally craving the comfort their presence would give him; the gentle and reassuring feeling of being warm and having them all around him. He wanted it, his body almost felt like it was aching with the need for one of them to wrap him up in their arms and hold him close. He also didn't really want to go back to sleep without them, anxious about another nightmare happening and them not being there.

"Of course we can stay with you," Roman said as he pressed a kiss to Virgil's temple while Logan nodded in agreement, "you don't even need to ask." He added.

"I'll turn the lights out while you guys get comfortable." Logan said, pressing a quick kiss to Virgil's forehead before getting up from the bed.

Patton and Roman were quick to cuddle up against him after that, moving so they were all laying down with Virgil's head tucked under Romans chin and Patton's arms wrapped securely around his waist, fingers drawing lazy but calming patters on his skin underneath the hem of his shirt.

Logan quickly came back to the bed, taking patrons glasses and putting them on the side table with his own before climbing into bed as well, pressing himself up to Patton's back and draping an arm across both him and Virgil so he could hold Romans hand, the hands clasped and resting against Virgil's hip.

"Love you." Roman whispered into Virgil's ear, pressing a small string of kisses to wherever his lips could reach before snuggling closer, earning a small sleepy him from Virgil, who had already begun to drift off, still exhausted from his panic attack and fitful sleep.

-

The next full nightmare didn't happen for almost a week. Sure he had little snippets of moments, words spoken in his head here and there, but nothing nearly as bad as the first night.

This time he had asleep on his own, since both Patton and Roman were doing night training, and he had denied Logan's offer for cuddles because he knew Logan had stuff to do the next day and didn't want to bother him. In hindsight he wished he had.

Virgil felt like he was floating in the worst sort of way, untethered to his body and unable to get back to it.

Everything was dark, but then seconds later it was bright, almost blindingly so. He managed to close his eyes, but the rest of his body didn't respond. He felt numb.

The brightness faded eventually and then there were hands on him, fingers digging into his flesh as he was pulled and dragged, his limp body complying to their grip and movements.

"Time for bed your highness." a distant said, and then Virgil felt a sharp pain that made his nerves writhe and his skin pinch, before slipped into darkness.

In all honesty it wasn't that bad of a nightmare, quick and kinda easy to wake from -at least he didn't go straight into a panic attack this time.
But his mind was buzzing unpleasantly, and his skin crawled sickeningly.

He got out of bed, his arms and legs trembling with pent up anxiety, and stumbled his way over to the bathroom, where he quickly yet clumsily went about drawing himself as hot a bath as he could, wanting to get the feeling on his skin off.

He kinda zoned out when he was in the tub, his mind swirling as he let himself soak in the hot water that smelled strongly of honey and vanilla and frothed with mounds of bubbles that he sunk into, letting himself and his thoughts stew for who knows how long.

He must have dozed off at some point, because they next thing he knew he was being dragged out of the now cold, bubble-less water by a panicked Logan, who immediately began to check him over while lecturing him on how dangerous it is to fall asleep in the bath and asking him if he was okay.

Before he could even get a word out Logan was bundling him up in a fluffy towel and carrying him in his arms out of the bathroom and back to his bed.

"I- Logan I'm fine." Virgil said as Logan gently set him down on the bed.

"Are you sure? It's not safe to fall asleep in-"

"I know love, I didn't mean to," Virgil interrupted, "I just..." he trailed off as he looked down and away from logan.

Turns out Logan wasn't having that, since he quickly moved to sit next to Virgil and cupped his face in his hands, tilting his head so that he was looking up at him.

"What's wrong?" He asked, his gaze so soft and calm yet concerned, Virgil could practically feel himself melting as he leaned into Logan's touch.

"I just...I had another dream." He said softly as he closed his eyes.

"Like the one before? When Patton got Roman and I?" Logan asked.

Virgil nodded, "I think so," he said, "it wasn't as bad though- it was shorter, and I didn't have an attack." He said.

"I went to take a bath to try and calm down and because my skin felt gross and I thought it might help," He continued, "I didn't mean to fall asleep, I'm sorry for worrying you." He added.

"It's okay love," Logan said softly, "I'm not upset with you, and don't apologize just because I'm worried -I'll always worry."

"Just, come to me next time," Logan continued. "It doesn't matter if I'm asleep or awake or in the middle of something else, just come to me -even if you don't want to talk about it." He said as he pressed a kiss to Virgil's cheek which was still cool and damp from however long he'd been sleeping in the tub for.

Virgil nodded and moved his head to press a kiss to Logan's palm. "Okay." He said softly.

The two of them stayed together after that, cuddling on Virgil's bed after he'd gotten dressed back into his pajamas. They told Roman and Patton about what had happened later on, and Virgil explained the nightmare as best he could to the three of them, but they eventually got distracted because of Roman and Patton practically smothering Virgil and Logan with cuddles and kisses.

-

The next nightmare didn't happen for another week, and this one was nasty.

Virgil couldn't move
But this time it was different
Before he couldn't move and it felt like his body was just asleep or numb, like his body just wasn't responding

Now he couldn't move because something was holding him still.

His muscles strained and twitched as he tried to move his arms and legs, but all he could manage were small useless wiggles.

A room eventually faded into focus around him. It was cold, he could feel the chill deep in his bones, and the walls were dark and barren from anything except for a few shelves, and there was only a lamp in the corner, that provided a soft transparent glow across the room. There were no windows, no furniture, only a few stacks of boxes in some corners and a single door off to the side.

He tried to speak, but found that he couldn't, something was stuffed in his mouth, and all he could manage were small muffled sounds. He could feel himself beginning to panic as he tried even harder to wriggle out of his binds, his breathing speeding up a bit as well.

"Ah, I was wondering when you'd wake up." A voice said from somewhere around him, echoing off the walls and starting Virgil. "I was worried we'd given you too heavy of a dose the first time."

Images of a man with dark brown hair and olive skin sat on a chair across the room from him flashes through Virgil's mind. He looked familiar, in a sickening way, but Virgil couldn't quite put his finger on how or why.

"I'm sure you're confused," The man continued and suddenly he was in front of Virgil, staring into his eyes with a cold almost haunting gaze. "the drug has an effect on your memory, so you probably don't remember much from after you drank your tea and continued getting ready for bed." He said, without moving his mouth, and Virgil's breathing quickened a bit as the man continued to stare at him unblinking.

"Sadly you probably won't be remembering any of this, I have to give you another dose to keep you nice and compliant." He said, "not that I think you'd be much trouble as you are, but I'd just rather not take any chances." He said. "You'd better not say a word when this is off, or you'll be in trouble."

Suddenly Virgil found himself gasping for breath as his mouth was freed from whatever had been gagging it, his jaw aches and his lips for sore, he found himself desperate for the air, despite it being dusty and stale and making him choke.

"This should be enough to keep you out for the rest of the day," the voice continued, whispering directly into Virgil's ear now, "they'll kick in in a few minutes, but you'll actually pass out maybe ten minutes after that, since this a stronger dose than the one you took earlier,"

Suddenly his face was being gripped by a pair of hands, while two more wrenched open his mouth, spreading his jaw impossibly wide and making Virgil cry out as pained tears welled up in his eyes.

Then he was choking as another hand forced its was into his mouth and down his throat, his body spamming in its restraints as he choked and cried, his lungs begging for air and his throat silently screaming in pain.

"swallow these like the good prince you are."

Virgil ignored the voice though, and continued to try and find a way to breath
He needed to breath
He couldn't breath

"If you don't swallow them then I'll let you suffocate." He said, his voice steady.

His lungs and throat felt like they were on fire as his mind began to be consumed by more and more panic as he struggled a bit more before stopping and forcing himself to sit still and swallow, but he couldn't. The mans hand and arm were too big, he couldn't swallow around them.

The hands didn't go away

Virgil was numb. His body floating in a disgustingly familiar way. His mouth ached, and his throat was sore, but he could breath.

"Now I might as well explain what's happening before you drift off." Virgil barely processed what the voice was saying at this point, pent up anxiety swirling around inside his unresponsive body.

"Basically me and my brother want money, and who has more money than the royal family? I'm sure you have some to spare,"

The man continued to talk, but Virgil could barely hear it, his ears beginning to buzz as his hearing cut in and out on itself.

"In order for you to return safely, your parents will need to abide to our demands before our deadline,"the voice cut in again, "we'll either off you or sell you to the highest bidder at the ports or over seas."

Virgil felt a shudder of fear go down his spine, the room was fading
He was falling

"Let's hope, for your sake, that they listen."

Virgil was dragged back into consciousness by his mind and immediately felt sick.

His face was wet from tears, his eyes feeling puffy and itchy. His breathing was shallow and uneven, he couldn't get enough air in and his throat hurt.
His entire body was trembling like a leaf, painfully numb while also the exact opposite -all of his nerves tingling with anxiety and fear.

He couldn't see, his vision too blurry and spinning too much, but he could ear muffled voices all around him.

A small whine escaped his lips, and suddenly there were hands on him, gentle and cool fingers wiping his tears away and brushing the hair out of his face.

Another small whine slipped from his throat, and had he been a bit more aware he'd have been embarrassed, but right now the small sound was all he could manage at the moment.

"Sweetheart? Are you with us love?" A gentle voice asked from next to him, and he tilted his head towards the sound, taking comfort in the familiarity.

A hand from that same direction came and carded its fingers through his hair, and Virgil found himself being sat up a few moments later.

"Do you know where you are? Can you squeeze my hand?" A different voice asked as a warm hand moved to hold one of Virgil's cold and clammy ones, "squeeze if you can understand me."

It took a second for Virgil's fingers to respond, but he eventually managed to squeeze the person's hand.

"Good, do you know who I am? Squeeze once for yes and twice for no."

His fingers responded a little faster this time, allowing him to give the hand two gentle squeezes.

"That's okay love, do you know where you are?"

Another two squeezes.

"Alright love," the voice said, "we should have asked earlier, but is it okay that we're touching you? Or would you rather we move away?"

Virgil really didn't want that, another small whine escaping his throat as he gave the hand two squeezes.

"Do you want us to stay?"

One squeeze.

"Alright love, we'll stay."

And they did. They spoke softly to him as they each made physical contact with him in some way.
Someone was still holding his hand, and someone else was drawing invisible swirls on his torso, while someone else was playing with his hair.

He was floating a little, letting their gentle touches and the soft murmurings of their voices blanket over him comfortingly and let his mind just drift off for a bit.

He eventually came back down though, his mind slipping back into him as he peeled his eyes open and looked around groggily.

Logan was sitting on one side of him, his hand clasped in one of Virgil's while the other held a book he was reading out loud, his voice soft and soothing.

Patton was laying down on his other side next to him -when had Virgil laid down? He'd been sitting up hadn't he?- and had a hand resting on Virgil's stomach, tracing invisible shapes.

And then Roman was above virgil, with Virgil's head cradled in his lap and both of his hands playing with Virgil's hair and massaging his scalp soothingly.

Virgil groaned softly and the attention of the three of them immediately snapped back to him, Logan's book closing and Patton and Romans hands going still.

"You back with us baby?" Patton asked softly.

Virgil flexed his jaw, which still felt unbearably sore, before swallowed thickly, his mouth dry. "Hey." He said softly, his voice a little hoarse.

"Hello love," Logan said softly as he gently squeezed Virgil's hand, "it's good to have you back with us."

Virgil hummed in response, tilting his head to nuzzle against Romans thigh.

"Think you can sit up? You should really drink some water." Logan said as he let go of Virgil's hand.

"Probably." Virgil said softly, and the next thing he knew both Roman and Patton where gently helping him sit up, propping him up against Romans chest.

"Mouth open love." Pattons voice said softly, and Virgil opened his eyes -when had he closed them?

He obediently opened his mouth though, allowing Patton to bring the cup of water to his lips so he could take several grateful sips.

"Are you okay babe?" Roman asked from where his chin was resting on Virgil's shoulder. "You weren't all here for a while."

"I'm fine," Virgil said, moving his head to press a kiss to Romans cheek, "sorry if I worried you."

"Don't apologize, I already told you there's no need to when we're always going to worry." Logan said, earning a small nod from Virgil.

"Was it another nightmare? You were crying and muttering in your sleep." Patton said after setting the glass down on the bedside table.

Virgil closed his eyes and tilted his head to the side a bit, leaning into Roman a bit more, before nodding.

He explained what had happened, how this time it had been a bit different while happily letting Roman wrap his arms around him and hold him close in his lap comfortingly.

They talked through it and the three of them comforted him as best they could, which was pretty damn well in all honesty.

They'd asked if he wanted to take a bath, since that had seemed to help a little last time, but he denied and admitted he'd rather just sit and cuddle with them.

The three happily obliged, pressing in close and tangling themselves together while still being comfortable, each of them slowly but surely dozing off eventually.

He still had a few more dreams and nightmares after that, but they were all manageable and not too bad -he also had the three of them to help if he needed them or just wanted them.

It was nice, having people he could love and depend on who care about him.

And ta-hecking-da!
