You might think I have the perfect life. Well, not exactly. I hear a loud voice behind me. My problem, Melinda Bailey. "Trying to make up for your lameness by hanging with cute guys?" "Lay off, Melinda." I answer calmly. Sadly, I'm used to this. She's the kind of person who is popular and mean, when I'm more or less popular and laid back. Dealing with her is one of my hourly duties. As one of her followers walked by, I smelt a faint wisp of smoke. I got a funny feeling that there was something strangely wrong with her, because for a few seconds, all I could hear was an eerie silence. Then I thought I must've imagined it, because it was loud as ever in the cafeteria. Later, I found myself alone with her in the washroom. I have no idea why, but I flung myself at her. I jumped back, because she burst into flames. I held in my hand a dagger dripping with blood that slowly faded away, along with the drips of blood. Left in the girls place, named Maddison McHanob, was a cloud of smoke, ashes, and a fiery, or bloody red gem. Trembling, I picked up the warm jewel, slipped it in my pocket and burst out of the washrooms to find Melinda. "Melinda, where's Maddison?!" She blinked. Who's Maddison? I don't know any Maddison."
