it took decades

for the little doll to love again

she was abandoned

forgotten

and yet she learned

that her little cloth clothes

and her little button eyes

were beautiful after all

she could see galaxies in his eyes

her heart was too big for her body

it couldn't fit in the cloth

her dress tore into seams from the size of her heart

he couldn't love her back 

and her heart tore into pieces

broke like shattered glass

slowly, unending pain

and then, a miracle

her dress, tiny as it was

mended her heart 

put it back together

stitched it back with needle and cloth

it hurt her heart

and yet she was full again

the little doll could see galaxies in his eyes

and yet her soul was overflowing with joy

her heart remains too big for her body

and yet now

it is to be hers

and hers alone 

forever.
