THE SUN ROSE and set on Raphael for Carina. He's an angel ─ both in a literal and metaphorical context. She couldn't believe her luck: she's going to spend the rest of eternity with the doe-eyed, soft-hearted Archangel of Healing. She loves him, he loves her, everything is fine, all that jazz.

　She was in Heaven.

　(Well, not really. The keyword there is was. She's a demon now, so that was just wishful thinking.)

　Carina is Raphael's life. Without her, he wouldn't be here. He couldn't be more thankful ─ had they never loved, he was sure he'd never see the wonders of living. She's the only thing that's keeping him alive, despite the voices in his head telling him to find a way out. There was a weight of something on his shoulders and a strange ache in his heart that he carries with him. Despite this, he loves her, she loves him and he's staying alive . . . but something wasn't quite right.

　He's confused.

　For centuries, their lives revolved around each other and their romance blossomed in full bloom. Heaven & Hell saw their love unfold their very eyes and they couldn't believe it. A divine messenger and a cunning fiend, slow dancing to Somebody to Love by Queen? Impossible! they thought. Still, there was nothing to worry about.

　That is, until Raphael tells Carina that he wants to die.

　Again.

　Determined not to let him do just that, she sets herself on a quest to find him more reasons to keep living. They've been down this road many times before, so it shouldn't be that difficult. But as Carina retraces her steps back to where it all began, she finds that she needs more than a motivation to make him stay.

　Raphael wanted to end this, it's just that Carina didn't . . .

if you're here when saving grace was an impulsive decision i made in the bathroom at 3 am, you'd know that you'd have to be null and void of emotion to get through this book. now that it's a fully developed and overly-detailed story, you'd still have to be null and void of emotion while also having a wide attention span with the number of sub-plots and purple proses it has. good luck <33

saving grace is the shortest fanfic i've made so far, with only about 15 chapters, excluding the prologue and epilogue. the chapters are still long, but they pale in comparison to my other works such as play pretend (which i plan to have 45-50 chapters) and creative block (36 chapters). i've presented myself a challenge with telling you guys a story that's not too fast-paced but not too slow-burnt as well. i'm so excited to share this story with you despite having over 20 more drafts in my stories.

it's a huge honour to write this story, which tati and i crafted when we were in twelfth and ninth grade, respectively. this is one of our most beloved plots simply it's taken our favourite things to extremities: pain, angst, pain, medieval clothing, angst, sexc demon & angel dads, and a really confusing but deep storyline with more confusing but deeper characters.

this will have sub-plots to it, just like the novel. while the main storyline is fixated on raphael & carina, we'll also get to see other characters such as satan & aziraphale. it's not really your typical good omens fanfic if i'm being honest. it's almost neil gaiman-ish in format.

the chapters, which you'll come to see, are named after books of the bible. it's not necessarily in order, but they have corresponding symbolisms to it. i don't know why i'm explaining this to you but it's a callback to the origins of the book and my own religion as well. this will probably be a book that would cause me to be scolded by my entire catholic family and end in disownment. it'll all be worth it if i get to finish it, though.

oh yes, some members of the cast will be referred to as they/them!! 🙏🙏 in this house we need more diversity and i am giving you all just that.

i'll be frank with you, i did not see the gays winning with the announcement of good omens season 2. i'm stoked to see what becomes of our ineffable husbands especially because the sequel to the book never came to life with terry pratchett's passing. i can't wait for it to premiere soon with the five fennec foxes as crowley. 😭😭
