Sara's day at school was like all the others. She went to class, had lunch, and went home. As she walked towards the big, white, house that she had grown up in, she thought about why her 'friend' didn't come see her at the school gate. He always did. It was troubling, but she felt relieved to know she wouldn't be bullied at all today. She sighed a depressed and relieved sigh.

Once she got up to the front door, she took out her keys from her backpack and unlocked the front door. She walked inside and started crying, knowing that her parents were still at work. She hung her backpack on a coat hanger that sat in the short hallway next to the door, hit tears still rolling down her face. She then walked up the stairs to do what she called 'atoning for her defects'; or, in other words, she went upstairs to cut. As she walked down the long hallway to the bathroom, she wiped away her tears, only to have more stream down her face. Just as she was about to grab the doorknob that led to the bathroom, she heard...noises. They were coming from upstairs. They sounded like gunshots from an old retro game. She froze.

How?...How is someone up there? Only I know how to get up there.

Her parents don't know of the attic, Sara kept it that way, so she may have someplace to go when she needed to cry or cut while they were home. She questioned her sanity, thinking it was all in her mind. But as she walked to the attic's entrance, the sounds got louder and louder. She opened the attic's entrance and poked her head inside, only to see a middle-aged man with curly, reddish-brown hair, and emotionless green eyes. He was playing some retro game with a spaceship shooting aliens or something. He was sitting on a dark red beanbag chair, with a darker red blanket covering him up. He was wearing a torn red plaid shirt and ripped blue jeans. He didn't seem to notice Sara peering in. "H-hello?" She asked, with hesitation in her voice. The mysterious man paused the game and turned the TV off, then he looked at Sara with a blank, bone-chilling stare. He didn't respond. "W-who are you?" She asked, shivering, as she lifted herself up into the attic completely. The man only shrugged. "You don't have a name?" She asked curiously. He nodded. Sara bit her lip and asked "then... how about I give you a name?" The man nodded again. "O-okay...how about..." Sara pondered on this for a moment as the man waited patiently. "H-how a bout...Frank?" The man's eyes seemed to light up a bit, then he nodded, confirming that he liked the name. "Okay then, Frank! Um...what are you playing?" Sara asked curiously. The man turned the TV back on and the starting screen showed two words in big letters 'Space Invaders'. "Space Invaders, huh?" The man nodded. "Well, how do you play?" Sara asked. The man started a new game and showed her the mechanics, all without saying a single word. Surprisingly, Sara understood pretty much everything. "Um..." Sara blushed, afraid of asking the question that swarmed her mind. She bit her lip and asked "may I play?" Sara grew a bit uncomfortable. She doesn't like asking questions. The man nodded and hander her his controller. Sara smiled and took it. They played 'Space Invaders' all night. Sara's heart was filled with hope, now that she had found her first friend.

Maybe...maybe my life isn't all that bad.

Little did the young girl know, that meeting Frank would lead to death. Death by their hands.
