Author's pov 

Trivedi was beautifully decorated with flowers and shimmering lights. The relatives were running here and there in order to check if everything was going fine or not. The guests had also started to come to celebrate the union of two souls.

"Sari taiyari thik se ho gayi hai nah?(Are preparations done correctly or not?)" Mr Trivedi asked anxiously to his wife.

"Yes yes..everything is done...Don't take tension.  I am going to see if Kahani is ready or not..the women who are going to put mehendi (henna) on her hands  are  going to come after some time. You go and take some rest….I will see and do the works which are left." Mrs Trivedi said and smiled.

But seeing the sad smile on Mr. Trivedi's face,Mrs Trivedi's smile wiped away. She understood the sadness of husband which he tried to hide from everyone by keeping busy in the works of Marriage of her daughter, Kahani.

She held his hand and said," Utna socho maat...sab thik ho jayega.(Don't think much...Everything will be alright.)" 

Mr. Trivedi nodded and went to his room. 

Mrs. Trivedi sighed and went towards Kahani's room.

She entered her room to see Kahani getting ready with the help of Kahani's cousin sister Shina. She was in awe seeing her daughter looking ethereal in a yellow colored beautiful floor length anarkali suit paired with jewellery and minimal makeup.

Kahani's look

"Momma,you are here..see I told Shina not to dress me up so much and keep it simple...but she made me wear all this...isn't it too much?" Kahani said in a soft tone.  Hesitation was clear in her voice.
 
Shina left them alone. 

"No baby...you are looking beautiful. It's your wedding beta ,you should look pretty and like a queen. " Mrs Trivedi said,putting the flower in Kahani's bun.

"But….." 
"No but and if….I know that you are hesitating because of the situation….but whatever the situation is ,remember that Marriage is a memorable and most important part of your life...you should enjoy it a bit. That's why you need to pamper yourself a bit as well...so now hurry up.
And it's done….you are looking like a queen." Mrs Trivedi said ,interrupting Kahani. She kissed her forehead. Kahani smiled shyly.

"The ladies are here." Shina informed the mother-daughter duo.

"Let's go." Mrs Trivedi said and they both took Kahani towards the hall where the function of Mehendi was going to be held.

Kahani was sitting in the middle of two ladies who were applying mehendi on her hands. Shina and some other cousin sisters of Kahani were sitting with them as well.

The guests were enjoying themselves but still there was a silent tension and a kind of sadness in the atmosphere.

From a corner, Mrs Trivedi watched Kahani who was sitting with a soft smile on her face. She was thinking if her soft spoken and soft hearted girl would be able to adapt the new change. She knew that Kahani was someone who could adjust in any situation….but here,the situation was extremely different and critical as well.

"What are you thinking?" 
Hearing Her husband's voice ,she looked towards him.

"I am thinking whatever we are doing if it was right or not. You know how Kahani is….she never objects about anything,she bears every kind of hardship without uttering a word and Moreover she can't express her feelings and problems as well...will she able to cope up with everything?" Mrs Trivedi asked worriedly.

Mr. Trivedi said,"You know one thing. Kahani is like a water who is able to adjust in  any kind of situation and place. I believe that she will overcome this challenge as well like always. Don't worry...we are doing the correct thing." 

They both prayed to God to keep the precious smile of their daughter's face intact.

"Let's click a picture of yours..then we will send it to Jiju(brother in law) and I am sure that he is going to faint seeing your beauty." Shina said enthusiastically.

"Yes,Di...trust me ..if I was a man ,I surely married you today. You are looking so beautiful like a doll." Another cousin-sister said to Kahani,making her blush.

Shina was about to send the picture to Kahani's would-be husband when Kahani stopped her and said,"Please don't….I am...I am not comfortable...please." 

Seeing her hesitation, Shina stopped.

"We are done." The ladies said as they completed,applying the mehendi on her hands and took leave.

"Let's wait to see the colour of the mehendi tomorrow….elders say that the darkness of the mehendi decides how much your husband will love you...I am sure ,Kahani's mehendi is going to be the darkest ." Shina said with a wink and the girls laughed in order to tease Kahani.

Kahani just gave a tight lipped smile. From the time she had sat to apply mehendi ,her cousin sisters were teasing her . She wasn't enjoying these all a bit as she wasn't in a state to enjoy all these ….She wanted to make them shut up but unfortunately it wasn't her cup of tea to utter a rude or arrogant word to someone .
So she let them continue what they wanted to.

After some time, her phone rang...she looked to see that it was fiance's call.

She excused from there and left the place.

Entering inside her room,she called him back as the call got cut.

"Hello,"Kahani said as soon as her fiance picked her call up.
"Kahani...how are you? " He said in his gruff voice.

"I am fine,Deep. What is Disha doing? How is she now?" Kahani asked him.

"She is sleeping in Mom's room. She was kind of irritated the whole day due to her fever ...thankfully her fever went down in the evening itself." Deep said,making Kahani sigh in a relief. 

"Thank God...Do you want to say something?" Kahani asked him as she somehow understood that he wanted to say something to her.

"Actually yes. Kahani ,answer me honestly without fearing about anything...do you really want to marry me? If you don't, tell me without hesitation, I will stop it...because just for the sake of my daughter, I can't destroy your life. So tell me honestly...will you?" He asked her in a serious tone.

Kahani sighed and said,"Deep...when I said yes and took the responsibilities of Disha...I said it honestly and from the core of my heart. I am not destroying my life ,Deep in fact I am lucky that I am gaining the honour of being a mother of a daughter like Disha...I should thank you for giving me that opportunity ,Deep. Trust me,I am happy."

"Alright….You don't know how your words soothed me. I am lucky to have you in my life..I will give you everything you deserve,Kahani...but honestly I don't love you now…
but I know in future, maybe I will …I promise." Deep said ,bringing a smile on Kahani's face.

"Your promise is more than enough for me, Deep." Kahani said softly. Deep smiled.

After talking for some time,they cut the call. 
 
"Lekha...I wish all these never happened...I wish you could have lived with your family...your husband...your daughter. 
But I promise you  that I will give enough love to Disha...I will take care of Deep as well...I promise. " Kahani cried ,remembering her younger sister Lekha.

Lekha and Deep had married two years  ago. They were such a lovely couple and soon they became parents of a beautiful daughter, Disha. 

But  on a fateful day,Lekha fell down from stairs and she was rushed to hospital. But unfortunately she couldn't be saved. She died ,leaving her family alone. Disha was one month old then.

From then Kahani took care of Disha like her own daughter. Seeing their bond both the parents of Deep and Kahani decided to get them married for the sake of Disha and as well as Deep as they saw  how Kahani handled a heartbroken Deep as a friend.

When they informed Deep and Kahani about it ,both were angry. Deep created a huge scene as well. But when he thought about it he decided to go for it as he noticed the bond between Disha and Kahani...he also found a friend in Kahani.

So after three months,they decided to marry.

Tomorrow is the day.

Let's see where it takes them.
