Chapter 10

SnowWinter was pacing above the hollow, stressing about the fight a few days ago. MoonFox's teacher was to busy to train her, so she hasn't been training the last few days either. GleamingFur would help with her training, while SharpFang trained SkyFox.

Now she was doing her duties, and going to fill leaves with water. She walked beside WishFox, there steps matching as they held the giant leaf. They neared the river, and she let the wind ruffle her coat.

"I'll fill the leaf this time." MoonFox said as she slowly walked into the current.

WishFox nodded.

The coldness of the water made her flinch. She entered deeper, dipping the leaf. Under water, she tripped on a stone. She fell deeper, and the current began to carry her.

   She bobbed up her head, "Help!" She saw WishFox's worried eyes, then the water over took her.

   She struggled a against the water, until she felt her pelt being tugged on. She was placed on sandy gravel and looked up to see four trainees looming over her.

   One small squeaked, "Is she still alive?"

   The other small one, but glossy looked closely at her. "Yep!"

   A strangely spotted one then spoke, "We should take her to NatureSpring, then he will award us!"

   The only reynard barked, "We would get in so much trouble!"

   The small one squeaked again, "A party is coming!"

   They dove under a bush, hiding in the brambles. As they approached the Reynard focused his gaze. She watched as he made waves roar from the river, almost carrying a fox in. They backed away and kept walking.

   "How?"' MoonFox asked astonished.

   She spotted fox hit the reynard with her paw, "Remember, other skulks can't know we have powers already WavePup!"

   The small one one spoke quietly, "But NatureSpring says there is all peace, there is no harm in knowledge."

   The vixen growled back, "There isn't. NatureSpring just won't admit it! Remember that DewPup."

WavePup then barked sincerely, "We must bring her to camp, it's the right thing to do."

Before she knew it, everything around her went black.

    MoonFox awoke to an older trainee gazing at her. "LifeHerb, she is awake." She said.

   An old reynard walked over to her, "How are you feeling?" He asked.

   MoonFox stood up out of the bedding, her sores now painful. "Fine." She mumbled.

    MoonFox looked around, fearful. She now saw many small grey foxes wandering. She remembered their scent as SpringSkulk. She was lucky to be here, for they are known for there peaceful ways. She saw as the senior reynard walked over to her, his eyes glowing green.

   LifeHerb mumbled, "ShellFur and GreenLeaf are down there waiting. They will escort you back home." He then pointed with his tail.

   MoonFox nodded and walked towards them. One looked stern, while the other looked kind. She saw as others stopped to look, but then continued there duties.

The reynard with the kind gaze barked, "I am GreenLeaf, lead hunter of SpringSkulk. And who must you be?"

The one who must be ShellFur gave GreenLeaf a warning glance, but he ignored the glare. "I'm MoonFox." MoonFox said quietly.

ShellFur stared her from up to down. "I am ShellFur, fighter of SpringSkulk." ShellFur then flexed her muscles. She then added, "Now let's go."

They walked through SpringSkulks territory silently. Once they were at the border, ShellFur left, while GreenLeaf continued escorting her. Once they had entered the camp, GreenLeaf wagged his tail as SnowWinter approached. MoonFox looked down, ashamed.

SnowWinter looked surprised, "FrostFur!" She barked. "Cancel the other parties, MoonFox is back."

FrostFur nodded and left.

"Greetings GreenLeaf." SnowWinter continued. "Thank you for bringing MoonFox back to us."

"It's my pleasure." GreenLeaf said soothingly. He then gave her chief a quick lick on the ear, then left. MoonFox looked curiously. SnowWinter looked dazzled.

"Am I in trouble?" MoonFox asked sadly.

SnowWinter gave a warm gaze, "No, of course not. WishFox told me you accidentally went to deep into the water."

MoonFox nodded.

SnowWinter put her tail around her. "Let's get IceBreeze to check up on you." They then padded over to the healers tree.

SnowWinter then left her at the entrance. MoonFox walked to where IceBreeze was sorting herbs, alone. It felt strange not having CloudPuffs usual enjoyable sweet scent around. Now it smelt as if she was never here.

"MoonFox." IceBreeze said as he turned to face her. "I'm glad to see you have returned. Now, how are you feeling."

MoonFox let her tail sway, "I'm fine, LifeHerb already checked me out."

IceBreeze flicked his ears up, curious. "That is good. All you need is rest now."

MoonFox nodded understandably, and walked over to the trainees den. She saw as HawkFox and GentleFox lay in the bedding.

   "Oh, MoonFox! Thank StarSkulk you are back!" GentleFox barked.

   HawkFox glared at her, his muscled tensed. But he stayed silent. GentleFox then stretched. "I'll go get us prey." She then left the den.

   HawkFox curled away, facing the stone. MoonFox looked back as the sun started to fall. Pink clouds started covering the sky. Her mind twisted as she thought back about the four strange pups.
